I played a little bit and I am not a fan. You start with a weapon with a bad arch and fires forward. and can only unlock 1 weapon with a bad arch and fires forward. then you get nothing else til you die. horrible design. you should be able to try to win but they limit you so hard. then you can unlock a third weapon that has a bad arch and fires forward. i see in trailed what looks like different weapons but the first 3 weapons you have are legit the same and so boring. plus in 30 minutes in a such a tiny area with horrible repetitive music. the lack of no upgrades to change how weapons work or get better is awful. you just feel so limited and that should not be how these games work. so this game is a very big NO. i will keep it around and hope to see changes and fixes it. but right now not worth it.
Amazingly terrible. Enemies run just as fast as you. Weapons only hit in the direction you are facing and most have limited range so the whole game is doing figure 8;s around the tiny 1 screen map and try to graze the enemy with your weapon as you complete a loop. Or...Run, run, run, run, run, run, turn back as your weapon triggers, run away again, run, run, run, run, run, turn back as your weapon triggers, etc.
This is a good example of not what to do in a survivorslike game. One map, I played 3 characters, unlocked a few weapons. The enemies barely spawn, it gets boring quickly. The upgrades are few, mostly gold or hp. Weapons dont seem to upgrade in battle.
Ragnarok Survivors: Valhalla has so much potential, only frustrating aspect of the game is no auto-aim, you can only fire in the direction that you are running and unable to hit enemies to the side or from behind, for a rogue-lite title this is very unusual, hopefully the developers will put an auto-aim in the options menu which will make the gaming experience so much more better. Still a very positive score, with that auto-aim option added we will have a gem of a game "thumbs up".
its difficult but once you play a few characters and find the one you vibe with the game gets easier great game highly recommend it
Seriously fun 👍
Extremely fun and challenging, BUT BEFORE YOU START: Don't make the mistake of buying building that needs 5000 gold to make duplicate weapon. It will be a hard grind, and then hard grind to kill first boss to get new building material.
This is bad. I don't know what to praise. Everything is bad. I won't refund for now, but this game needs to become... interesting?
UPDATE and WARNING: The review changed to "not recommended" because the developer/publisher (Koding Nights) revoked my key on 04.05.2026. The original review was posted on 16.11.2024. Developer then went further and lied by calling it a "demo", which is not true since it was "for Beta Testing". They tried to explain this by stating that beta finished years ago - while it's true "Beta Testing" copies can be revoked, this happens in less than 1% becasue indie developers use them for promotion, giveaways, review purposes, etc. Changes to established formula are rarely welcomed, especially if they don't improve. There are fourteen heroes named after Nordic gods. You start with only four, and the others must be unlocked first. Each hero has unique attributes and a starter weapon. Then you choose the raid you wish to join. There are 12 of them, but you must first improve your shipyard before moving on to the next ones. The distinctive mechanic is the ability to build structures in your base. They require money earned through raids and special gems acquired from bosses. Gems are very rare and might lead to grind. Buildings are required if you wish to unlock new heroes and permanent upgrades. However, simply building something sometimes insufficient because it must be upgraded multiple times. Permanent upgrades will enhance your runs. The selection is typical for this type of game, with increases in damage, speed, more strong magnets, bigger awards, and so on. Some can be bought multiple times, but each subsequent upgrade is more expensive. Each upgrade, like heroes, becomes available when the right building is built. The gameplay differs from the traditional horde survival games. You still have to evade and kill enemies and try to survive as long as possible, but your hero's main attack is pointless. First and foremost, while there is auto-fire, auto-aim is inexplicably absent. This means you can only attack in the direction you are looking at, either left or right. Of course, it depends on the weapon (the shield, for instance, attacks around you), but it’s still annoying. Because you have no control over your attacks, you frequently miss because you may turn at the last second to avoid the enemy. Another issue is that the cooldown period for your attack is not visible. Your success is dependent on the runes dropped by foes. When collected, it unleashes lightning, a bombardment of bullets, or something else that fills the entire screen. So the standard run entails running around until the screen is filled with enemies, then collecting one of the runes to defeat them. That is why, if you want to live a long life, you should consider upgrading your speed. Most enemies are faster than you and can end your run in a matter of minutes. Enemies also drop gems, which unlock bonuses. The choices are determined by the type of structures in the base. So, when you initially start, you will just see health and coins. Coins, on the other hand, turn out to be one of the best bonuses because slaying enemies and bosses will never provide you with enough money. Each bonus grants you 50 coins, so you frequently go on useless runs only to grind money. Sadly, since you only choose among three random bonuses, you can make things a lot more difficult for yourself by constructing buildings and lowering the chances of seeing money. The biggest problem is grind for gems. Instead of using money to get better each run and to give you some sense of progress, you’re stuck fighting bosses until you get that one gem that allows you to build one structure. And then you have to do it all over again for the next building. It sadly doesn’t have that “one more run before bedtime” feel.
