Unfortunately, for various reasons, no further work will be done on this title in the future. However, the developers were kind enough to publish the first chapter for us, so to speak. As in the first demo, we are a detective in a high-tech cyberpunk future and have to solve a complicated case. This time, an accident with a flying car doesn't really seem to have happened by chance. To solve the case we make use of a powerful and advanced virtual reality that allows us to manipulate time. We can rewind and fast-forward events and use free locomotion or teleport to move around the environment in the frame of events. This allows us to view the course of events from many angles. Interactions with objects in the scenes or manipulations of the direct events are of course not possible. As a detective, we only observe and set points in our control tool at prominent actions of the protagonists. The controls are not really comfortable, while teleporting works flawlessly, free movement is a bit awkward. However, the operation of the time manipulators is unnecessarily complicated and I'm not sure I understood and used them correctly. The sound and English audio are fine and sufficient to feel like you're in the action. The graphics for this are really great. The characters look very realistic and have excellent movement. Especially in the first scene you can see how much attention to detail went into this project. It's a shame it's not being pursued any further. A great idea and an interesting package. Of course this unfinished project is not as extensive as e.g. "The invisible hours" but every detective or and cyberpunk fan should definitely take a look here. Quanero 2 is free just like its predecessor. More investigative reviews 👀can be discovered on my curator page. Quanero 2 - System Release is a free VR Experience. It worked on my HTC Vive, Quest 3 via Steam Link, and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. This is a college coding project, wow it looks good. This is sort of like Minority Report in a form of a virtual Video game. "We released! Hey everybody! Today we released Q2. We decided to stay silent about the status of the game, because we continuously broke promises. Here's a little explanation: The work on "Quanero 2 - System Release" stopped in 2018. All participants finished University and went to work in different jobs in different countries. Sadly Q2 never got finished. The project was too ambitious for a small inexperienced team. Some game mechanics were flawed the begin with and there was no cohesive logic behind it. We decided to strip Q2 of it's main gameplay mechanics and release a version of the game that resembles the first episode of Quanero. We still really hope you like it, have fun with it and can recognize the potential of VR storytelling. So go ahead and try it - you might like those choppy animations!" Try this, you might find it interesting for a little bit.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/6mkHj552M8M If you played the original Quanero, then this is pretty similar, except with more content and better visuals. There's a short story here as well. Different viewpoints of the same event sequence (not sure the last two sequences happened at the same time, although they are related). Whole thing took me about 40 minutes, after figuring out the controls. I didn't like the control scheme here, but I got used to it. You can either choose teleport or you can choose full locomotion, but there is no smooth or snap turning. The game is running on the Unreal Engine and overall it looks nice. However, the lighting seemed pretty bad to me as faces seemed to have a shiny effect and it seemed as though the game needed some shaders to fix these issues. It's an interesting short story. You basically highlight key events (whilst hitting fast forward, pause, rewind) and you can see your unlock progress. I'm not sure if you need to highlight a certain number of key events, but I was always able to highlight the majority of them in each scene and I was always able to go on to the next scene. The voice acting was .... serviceable. There were some issues with the animations. You can clip through everything it seems and you'll see the NPCs do the same with their hands and such. This is free though, so there's only so much you can expect. Overall, I did enjoy the experience. I just think the controls could have been better. Rate 6/10. It's worth a download if you're the type who likes to dig in to a story. You'll have to fight the controls though, especially when first starting out.
What could have been and what is ... you got bladerunner, matrix and fight club whats not to like , I wish i had a pc to play this on MAX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0jkBinhOS4
Interesting VR experience. Kind of buggy and unoptimized, however if you figure out the controls and soldier on you will get 30-40 minutes of exposition through some interesting time-travel mechanics. A shame the devs never followed through with an actual, polished full-length title.
Got past the level then got a warning say out of memory. I have above the recommended requirements and yet the game crashed.
The premise is straight out of Minority Report mixed with I, Robot. You're thrown into a crime scene recreation with the ability to pause, fast forward and rewind at any time. Your mission, find clues to solve an ever expanding narrative across multiple locations. The graphics are fairly better than many indie titles; good quality models and lighting. The voice acting and animation are little rough around the edges but good enough that you couldn't tell this was made as an university project. The For the low price of admission of free, definitely worth a look if you're into mystery crime dramas.
