a fun classic
It's Quake!
Ok, you probably know about Scourge of Armagon. Well, it's something similar, but now with different weapons and different enemies, and you also get to play in new settings, looking more like medieval castles and pyramids. And yes, you get to fight a dragon at the end. Both expansion packs are good. And for some unknown reason I always look at them together because they seem to be complementing one another. They both have new guns, they both have new enemies, and at the same time they are complete opposites, with Scourge of Armagon being more futuristic, and Dissolution of Eternity focused more on fantasy-like settings. I liked it, and do recommend it.

Final Score: 91/100 As was the case with Scourge of Armagon, Dissolution of Eternity is a blast. It's a full-blown campaign with new weapons and new enemies, and I'd argue it's somewhat more streamlined in experience than Armagon. The earthquake mechanics are annoying, forced fall damage is a nuisance, and an occasional tendency to overwhelm you with enemies can make this game tedious, but otherwise it's solid and perfect if you're a Quake fan.
Quake
Included in the main game nowadays so no point in buying it separatly As for the DLC it's not bad.
Usually expansion packs make me groan, but this reminds me of what I miss about map packs or expansions for (good) older games: Actual game mechanics married with clever and varied map design. It's more Quake 1 with some neat themed levels that makes good use of the DPS boost you get out of your upgraded variants of your weapons. Definitely was a fast-paced ride I enjoyed. I'd recommend playing it in the Quake 1 re-release on Steam.
