Quack Invasion is a fun and challenging half-roguelike, half-vampire survivorslike where you pilot a mech in order to mow down horders upon hordes of space ducks. The gameplay loop instantly reminds me of games like Vampire Survivors, with two important distinctions: you can aim and shoot manually, and the gameplay area is a confined arena, as opposed to an infinite plane. The enemies still rush you from off screen and you gradually gather experience in order to upgrade your mech, but the game still plays a lot like traditional top-down shooter. Don't let the cute theme fool you though: this game is tough. I have a lot of trouble surviving for more than five minutes even on the "beginner" difficulty, and above all the game is unforgiving: the damage you take will stay with you for the run. I'm on the fence about if it actually feels a bit too unforgiving, as often if I took damage early in the run, I felt like I should just restart on the spot rather than try and stick it out. Health feels like a resource you absolutely need to save for the lategame. This is, of course, a skill issue on my part but still, it's worth mentioning. The gameplay itself is snappy: you have a weapon, some grenades if you pick them up, and a dash, and you need to time your shots around a reload timer. When you gain exp, you can upgrade stats like damage, reload speed, movement speed etc. and of course change your mech! Some mechs are light and fast and others tanky and slow. You can swap multiple times in the same run. I only have one clear criticism about the game, and that is the music. The main track is quite simple, and it's extremely short - meaning that you'll hear it in a constant, short loop throughout your entire attempt. I opted to play the game with my own playlist playing in the background, and the experience was better. At the time of this review, the game is still in early access, and as such it's hard to gauge what this game will look like as a full release. But I think it has potential! At the moment, it gets a bit repetitive, but with new mechs, stages, enemies and weapons I can see this game get really good. And even in it's current state, I enjoyed it a lot.
Great
Unfortunately the game plays just like a beta or demo. It has been out in EA for some time and has no real updates that will keep players interest. Updates are few and deal with bugs basically. No progression at all. It has 0 meta upgrade system at all. In fact there are no upgrades or progression system of any kind at all. No different characters to choose from. You have one duck/mech, you shoot at stuff, level up and choose from only a handful of items, and that is absolutely it. There is no optional features like auto aim or auto target in the menu, nor are there any accessibility features. You cant change the keybindings, and have to hold down one button to shoot and another to aim, then another to release a bomb. Therefore, anyone over the age of 50 who is a bit slower with reaction time, or someone younger than 8, wont be able to play. Anyone with any disability or motor skill issues will also not be able to play. The game is way over priced for the content it gives the player, as again it is more like a demo game. Saying bare bones is putting it nicely. The play time value is about 20 minutes before you lose total interest and are bored. Very disappointed. The developer seems to not be active at all in the steam forums because he has no posts other than a few news postings about updates from ages ago. I refunded the game quite stunned about how it was released in this state and can not recommend it. If the developer fixes the things I have mentioned above, and adds the content this game deserves, I will rebuy the game and change my review. This game has potential and I think if the dev collaborates with the community, it could be an amazing game. But it doesnt seem he/she is interested in doing any of that. It would also help to have a discord link or something on the game page or in the forum. The only link that i saw was in the actual game menu and it takes you to a dead link.

Funciona bem no steam deck. Estou jogando com ele ainda em acesso antecipado, e o desenvolvedor se mostrou muito solicito e acessível, logo não tenho como não recomendar.
