Roguelite deckbuilders are a crowded shelf, which is exactly why QPopGirl's hook matters. Most deckbuilders only let you act at the moment you pick a card. This one adds a physical layer on top: the best build in the world does nothing if you misjudge the claw, and a mediocre build survives if your pulls are precise. The two axes prop each other up, and that's the whole design. The four doll classes divide the work well. Making the Mage scale off enemy max HP alone splits boss fights and trash fights into genuinely different problems. And tying the Healer's restore to damage dealt keeps her from being a passive safety valve — she's a piece that wants to be built around. The card split between upgrades and items is more meaningful than it first looks. Growing the claw is broad improvement that raises the floor on every pull. Adding a new doll opens a tool but dilutes the pool you're pulling from. Every choice is really the same question in a new outfit: does this run need width or depth right now? The pixel art is cute and, more importantly, legible. The machine gets crowded and you can still read it at a glance. Casual on the surface, calculating underneath — and the gap between those two is a lot of the appeal.
It's a cool little game
Sat down thinking "just one quick run" and somehow an hour went by. This is a really solid casual roguelike — short runs, easy to pick up, and hard to put down. Fair warning if you've got a little kid around: they're going to steal your keyboard for a good 20-30 minutes, because it's that simple to get into. And once the combos start landing, it actually feels rewarding — not the kind of game where you wonder if anything you did even mattered. If I had one wish, it'd be for the status effects to hit a bit harder — things like your controls getting messed with, or your target shrinking/weakening so it's harder to grab. A bit more of that would really ramp up the tension while you're playing. Still, it's a fun way to spend some downtime, and I'll always support a well-made indie game.
