Extremely Underrated
Thus ends this game and thus, the Scribes have chosen This game bought by me shall be reviewed Praised of all deeds Returned to glory in my steam library. Supergiant's games and all others shall remain... ...to carry out their rightful sentences in the backlog.
I mean, it's Supergiant. Of course it's amazing. 10/10 art, music, & story. Gameplay is... different. Feels a bit odd. But it works. 8/10

my personal favorite of Supergiants games. The sport like gameplay was very weird at first but is a surprisingly fun gameplay center. What makes this game so incredible, is the visual novel kind of story. The ludonarrative of this game is so thought out - i have never seen or heard of anything comparable. Play this one blind and let your emotions and own thoughts guide you. You are not alone in the underworld.
The almost funny thing about Pyre is that I would almost recommend it FIRST in the line of Supergiant games, because I feel that if you come to this after all its other games.... You might struggle just a little bit. This is because Pyre is SUCH a departure from the rest of the Supergiant lineup. It's not a bad game by any means - in fact I would say it's incredible like all Supergiant games are - but it's also nothing like the others... so the adjustment may take a minute. For example, you can make the relative jump from Bastion to Hades rather easily. The POV and combat are all rather similar, even if exact mechanics for things like weapons may differ. Jumping from either of those to Transistor could be a little trickier, due to the mixture of something akin to turn-based mechanics in it, but it's still something you could adjust to. However, there's no combat in Pyre. You don't even use WASD in Pyre - the default controls make you guide your character with the *mouse*, and, say, "W" is a jump/fly button. So that's one of the first things I think could turn some away from this game. Additionally, "three act as one" is from the trailers, and that's also an important part of being vaguely decent at the game: you have to juggle between three different characters in the same match while it is actively ongoing. In gameplay, it is absolutely NOTHING like Bastion, Transistor, or the Hades duo. However, god, it is such a fun game to play. I think that once you can adjust to the mechanics of the game, you will find it's actually really really fun and interesting to mess with. I'm not going to even REMOTELY pretend that I'm good at it, but even just the little bits I was able to touch on without Super Committing to the mechanics was a blast! I imagine those willing to or interested in really focusing in on those, it could be even more enjoyable. Every member you gain on your team adds something new and interesting to play with. Even for those who seem similar - Hedwyn and the Vagabond Girl for instance - there are some differences that really help them stand out from one another! And that's not even talking about fun stuff like playing with Bertrude's pounce, or wiggling along as Gilman. Needless to say, at some point you also gain the ability to make things HARDER for yourself, even at the base difficulty, so for those who love a challenge and find themselves adjusting really well to Pyre's gameplay... The game is more than happy to give that to you even on a first run. So, even if adjusting to the different gameplay and controls might trip some people up... I HIGHLY recommend working through it regardless. Because I find it really can be so fun to play with once you get your bearings. On this front, Pyre is truly an underrated Supergiant gem. And of course because it IS still a Supergiant game at the end of the day, you're guaranteed to get stunning art, incredible worldbuilding, and radical music no matter anything else, which makes any learning curves worth the effort. There's a dog with a moustache. Old crone witches are also giant snakes and they have antlers for some reason. A fully grown man beefs with a marketable plushie of a creature. Ancient eldritch horrors still exist amongst the stars, but they're not really your problem at this moment as you deal with magical sports ball. The main aspect of the game is that you care for each of your teammates and want to set them free, but have to struggle with the hole they may leave behind, both emotionally and as part of your team. But Rukey wants to see his mother again. But Hedwyn needs to reunite with who he loves. But Jodarial needs to make amends. So you fight to get them free. And, the entire time, you learn about old friendships in your group, soothe over old rivalries, and soothe someone losing a friend. Anyway, the ending song makes me literally shed tears every time, this is not an exaggeration, so play Pyre.
Beautifully crafted game. Loving it so far!
原来这跟hades是一个厂家啊,难怪总觉得有点像,玩法非常特殊 不过游戏的剧情+美术大概是大于玩法的
Very meh. Felt like I was always waiting for things to happen. Not really my cup of tea. I’d still recommend it, but know that this game has a strangely paced narrative mixed with the esport (?) aspect of it. Mixed bag.
simultaneously Supergiant's best and most underrated game. highly unique fantasy sport gameplay, with nonlinear narrative design executed in a way that most games would never attempt. compelling characters are voiced in a bespoke fictional language that is foreign to the tongue yet familiar to the ear. an uncut gem waiting for the player to shape its beauty. 9.5/10.
