Puzzle game, pastime, puzzle. Beautiful and wonderful Fantasy-style illustrations to rebuild, it is possible to choose the shape of the pieces and the number to be broken down from 30 to 1024 pieces. Each attached piece provides mana, you will find it collected on the right in the menu, click on it and you will use it to embellish and improve the enchanted forest where the fairy lives. There are 7 chapters to complete in total containing 250 HD images, there is also an eighth chapter which will allow you to use your own photos or images and create your own puzzles. If you want you can also increase the difficulty by setting the Timer, otherwise play in relaxation mode. If you don't complete the puzzle, the game automatically saves your progress. Game MENUS: Rotate= Setting Lens= Zoom + or - ? = General tips and How to play Symbols from left: Help, Divide the border pieces from the rest Change background color Start over Put the photo for reference Ghost photo Pleasant to play and relaxing, the music accompanies the images well, allows you to make beautiful screeshots, perfect playability and I did not find any bugs. Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring is a jigsaw puzzle game developed by Graphium Studio and published by Denda Games. As there isn't really a story behind this game, I'll just jump right into the gameplay. Puzzle Pieces 5 is a collection of jigsaw puzzles that are fairytale, fantasy themed. When you first start up the game, you're given five unlocked chapters, with an additional two chapters that are unlocked as you complete the puzzles. Each chapter consists of 36 jigsaw puzzles, and you can customize each puzzle by the number of pieces, puzzle shapes, etc. In short, you can make the puzzles as challenging as you wish. Also, there is a hint button as well as other helpful features. Now, there is a mana system, and I'll explain what that does. On the main menu, you're given a fantasy scene, but a lot of the items are locked. Thus, you need to accumulate mana to unlock these items. Mana can be obtained by completing the puzzles (which you can do in any order, assuming that they're unlocked) as well as logging into the game daily. The items are purely for cosmetic purposes, though. In addition, you can upload images to make your own jigsaw puzzles. At the time of this review, there aren't any Steam achievements or Steam trading cards. Now that I've gone over the gameplay, I'll move onto my critique. I enjoyed the developer's previous game, Puzzle Pieces 4: Farewell Dear Winter, so I looked forward to trying this game out. Also, it doesn't hurt that I enjoy fantasy-themed games. XD Although there isn't much of a story here, other than you're in a fantasy world and such, I don't feel like it's necessary to have one, as the main focus is the gameplay. In regards to the gameplay aspects, I had no technical issues. I was able to complete all of the puzzles with relative ease, and the hint buttons help if you're struggling to figure out where to put those last couple of pieces. However, like in Puzzle Pieces 4, I had issues with the windowed mode. I wasn't able to adjust the window size to my liking, which would have been nice since windowed mode looks almost like full screen mode. (I hope that the devs take note of this, and assuming that there are future games in the series, this issue is ironed out.) However, I was able to unlock all of the items for the fantasy scene, and this can be done relatively quickly. It almost felt a bit too easy to do so, but since I believe this game is meant more for relaxation purposes, then this is ok. Regarding the art, this aspect is the highlight of this game. The scenes are breathtaking, and they range from beautiful creatures, like the unicorn, to the more environmental scenery. Colors are applied well, and the pictures themselves mostly look like photographs although a few are more like paintings. In regards to the music, there's only one track. Although it's the same track that's in Puzzle Pieces 4, it is lovely to listen to and it feels very relaxing as you play through the puzzles. I wish there was a new track, though, if not more variety. Overall, would I recommend Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring? If you enjoy jigsaw puzzles and want a relaxing game, then this is worth taking a look. Since I played Puzzle Pieces 4: Farewell Dear Winter, this game felt very similar in regards to the gameplay and such. Only the art is really different here. Still, I enjoyed going through the puzzles here, and it is a relaxing game to spend some hours on. For the asking price, I'd say it's just about worth it although you can wait to get it on a sale. ^^
Flying free and writing reviews solely for The Introverted Gamer.
I love the developer Graphium Studio and have all of the Master of Pieces puzzles as well as some of the My Hobby puzzles and the Just Puzzles which are all published by Graphium Studio. I have a couple of these Puzzle Pieces and of the House of Jigsaw which are developed by Graphium Studio but published by Denda Games. I do not like these games as I find them to be pretty much unplayable. In House of Jigsaw the pieces are all distorted. In this Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring, I have been muddling through one of the puzzles and am at about 25% completion. All of a sudden when I pick up a piece to try to fit it somewhere all I see is a silhouette or shadow of the piece. It is very hard to place a shadow piece with another. I don't know why this all of a sudden happened. I didn't change any settings. Also, I find it very annoying that you cannot move a group of pieces at one time because I prefer to work the puzzle off on the side but it is just too much to have to move one piece at a time. Apparently the only way to work these puzzles is right in the space they have designated and then pieces click into place if they are in the right spot. This is not enjoyable to me. I don't have a clue what all the "mana" is about. I just want to work some puzzles. And, the music doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure how these Denda Games are getting such good reviews. They are a waste of my money. I just had to add this information. After 10.5 hours I made it to 64% completion but now I cannot go any further as the pieces just won't move. Some I can pick up but wherever you put them down, they just get stuck there. They might be on top of other pieces, inside the puzzle area, or outside the puzzle area. They just get stuck to the board and cannot be moved again. Horrible, horrible, horrible!
Puzzle Pieces 5: Fairy Ring

Basically, Puzzles…
Although I haven’t played a lot of literal jigsaw puzzle games, I’ve played enough to get a rough idea about them. Most of the titles I played usually featured a few puzzles which you can finish very quickly depending on the difficulty you choose. This game felt a bit different since it offers a lot more puzzles and some pretty interesting features which I haven’t come across in other games from the same genre.
About This Game

Storyline
At first glance, anybody would think that this game actually comes with a well-laid-out plot. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Yes, the game does have dialogues from a single forest fairy kinda woman, but these dialogues don’t actually narrate a story. They just tell you about the “buildings” you unlock. It would be cool if they added a plot since they did set a foundation for a short story with the magical forest theme, the forest fairy, and the mana system.
Gameplay Mechanics
This game actually offers pretty unique features which I haven’t seen in other puzzle games. I mean, I know that I haven’t played a lot of jigsaw puzzle games, so don’t take my word when I say that these features are “Unique”. Starting with the number of puzzles, the game offers 7 chapters in total with each chapter comprising 36 puzzles. This is already a lot of content but they also allow you to import your own custom picture which the game will turn into a puzzle for you to solve. I really appreciate how the developers’ were considerate enough to allow us to make custom puzzles! The next thing is the mana system the game uses. Mana is a currency that has to be collected and can be used to unlock “Buildings” in the chapter selection menu. In order to unlock more chapters, you need to unlock a certain number of buildings depending on the chapters’ requirements. You can obtain this mana by completing puzzles and the game gives you this currency every day as long as you open the game. Basically, daily login rewards. Now onto the actual puzzles themselves. So, as mentioned before, you have a vast selection of pictures to choose from. After choosing the picture of your choice, you get a few more options regarding the puzzle’s appearance & difficulty as follows: [olist]
You get to choose from 8 puzzle cutouts. My favorite is the 7th one since it’s the default cutout.
You can also choose the number of pieces for the puzzle. The higher the number, the more difficult the puzzle is. The choices range from 30 to 1024 pieces.
You can choose to either enable or disable rotation. Enabling it will make the puzzle harder since the scattered pieces will be rotated randomly.
The final option is to either enable or disable extra pieces. Enabling it will add decoy pieces to confuse you and make the overall experience a bit more challenging. [/olist] So yeah, the difficulty of the entire gameplay experience is completely in your hands. Luckily, the game autosaves your progress on the puzzles which allows you to pick off from where you left off during your previous session. I did face an issue here when I tried to play the first puzzle in the first chapter but the loading screen was stuck at 28/30. It was kinda annoying since the puzzle didn’t load even after I restarted the whole game. So yeah, loading takes a bit too long for a game that’s pretty simple. Yes, the game has more features when you’re actually in the gameplay segment solving the puzzle. Here are the other options you’re offered: [olist]
The basic zoom-in and zoom-out.
Shuffle which literally shuffles the pieces again.
A button that shows you the preview of the reference picture.
Auto-solve which solves a part of the puzzle automatically as the name indicates. This is like a power-up so it has limited uses and you require 99 mana in order to purchase it again.
Restart button that allows you to restart the puzzle.
You can also change the background which may improve the visibility of some puzzle pieces.
A button that filters out the middle pieces so you can focus on solving the edges first.
You can get the ghost of the final image on the puzzle-solving board so it makes solving a bit easier.
The final feature is the usual “Hint” button that most puzzle games offer. It literally shows the correct position of the selected puzzle piece. You get 2 free hints then you will have to pay 40 mana per hint. [/olist] There’s one more option that allows you to alter the brightness and colors of the overall game. Basically, it allows you to play around with the brightness and Light warmth. You can also change which mouse button you use to drag the table and whether you need a timer or not. The issue is that this options menu doesn’t function when you’re in-game. Like, you can open it and view the options but when you click on something, it will automatically close. I am pretty sure this is a bug that requires fixing. The final issue I had was with the tutorial. I mean, I am glad that they offer a tutorial. The problem is that it’s very very slow for no reason. They should at least give us the option to skip the highlighting animation since it’s really sorry and kinda annoyed me as I have almost no patience lmao.
Visuals & Audio
What can I possibly say about the visuals, they literally use stock images. The UI is not very attractive but it does its job. I don’t know why but I am not just a fan of this game’s UI. What was funny is how the game boasts that it has HD pictures when HD quality has become the minimum requirement in almost all platforms. The aural aspect of the game is decent since it uses calm instrumentals. But, as always, I recommend muting the game and relying on Spotify or whatever music app/website you use.
Pros

A lot of puzzles for you to solve. It apparently has 250+ puzzles.
There’s an option that allows you to create custom puzzles using custom pictures.
The difficulty of the puzzle is completely in your hands since you can change several of its aspects.
The game offers several features that aid you when you get stuck while solving the puzzle.
The mana system they have gives the players a sense of progression which is actually good.

Cons

The UI is underwhelming.
The game takes too long to load.
The Brightness and Colors menu is bugged since you can’t change any setting when you’re in-game.
The tutorial is extremely slow. They should add an option that allows us to skip it.
Sometimes, the loading screen gets bugged and freezes. They should look into this.

Conclusion
I would say that this game is actually fun as a great time killer. Unfortunately, I think $10 is a bit too much to pay for a jigsaw puzzle game. But I do recommend getting it when it’s on sale only if you’re a fan of solving puzzles since this game offers endless gameplay time due to the inclusion of a custom puzzle creator.
