While it looks a bit like a modern Match3 RPG, it's actually quite different from the modern form, but sadly not in a good way. The match3 part is played on a shared board with your opponent, and you take turns pushing a row or column one block at a time, and then do damage/acquire manna for any set of 3 adjacent matches. There's no chance to set up combos since you take turns on the same board, which takes all the fun/skill out of it. As for the RPG the leveling up of your single hero is essentially linear, so there's no strategy there as well; it's just a way to balance the gameplay by offering some grinding if you are losing the match3 battles. It was nice to play a game that didn't have ads or constant pushes to buy a resource pack, however, so in that one way this game is superior to modern match3 RPGs.
