A cool picross/nonogram game in which you solve 3d puzzles. It has some very nice quality-of-life features like greying out solves parts and removing the number when removing the excessive blocks. No missable achievements and completion takes around 17 hours. In this game, you solve the puzzles in 3d, so the numbers are printed on the blocks. What makes this game so good is that they grey out the number when you have colored the correct block but even remove the number when you also have removed the excessive blocks. That last thing is especially very helpful; the puzzles get less overwhelming the further you get into them, and the clearer it becomes where in the puzzle you still have to solve a part of the puzzle. It also has a nice option in the settings to remove the fail state, so you can't fail a puzzle and have to start all over. Using this will not lock you out of earning the achievements, which is also very nice. The only thing I missed (or couldn't find) was a button press to see the whole puzzle again. You move layer by layer to get to the right part, but after that, you have to go back all the way by pressing the opposite button. It would be lovely to have a button to see the whole puzzle again so you can switch the direction you're looking at the puzzle more easily. EDIT: Thank you Lilly from Lilly's Corner for mentioning that with the TAB key you can unfold the whole block again. None of the achievements in Nonogram 3D: Mega Puzzle are missable, as they are all for completing the puzzles in this game and doing 1 random puzzle, but this can be a very small one. I give Nonogram 3D : Mega Puzzle 4 out of 5 stars. This game is like Voxelgram except the UX/UI is much clunkier. However, this game adds a new dimension by introducing a second color, so it becomes a two-color 3D nonogram puzzle. The game needs more polish in terms of user experience and spelling mistakes, and the puzzle generator was underwhelming, but the puzzles themselves are interesting and challenging. Recommended if you have some patience.
I expected more challenge. There are a few bugs: "loose" instead of "lost", the swan puzzle seems buggy (ended up with the last two voxels with no choice to make but a random one..) and I *think* the guitar puzzle is present twice in 2 different collections. Also, controls are a bit rigid. Some keyboard shortcuts dont seem to exist: did not find any to navigate "inside" the puzzle, had to click on the arrows... And the rotation system does not allow one to navigate with a touchscreen. In the end, it's a meh.
I'm not convinced these developers have played either of the Picross 3D games. There's just too much here that suggests otherwise. The artstyle is nonexistent, literally just basic 3d shapes with flat color textures on them. Randomly generated puzzles, even on the highest difficulty at the highest size, are almost completely filled with trivial rows and columns to the point that you can solve a 15x15x15 cube within like five minutes. In a 14x12x6 puzzle roughly halfway through the game, there are 21 rows of 14 blocks each and 21 rows of 12 blocks each which all have zeroes on them. Four puzzles later there is an 8x15x6 puzzle with 14 rows of 15 blocks and and 29 rows of 8 blocks that are zeroes and another 8 rows that are filled. This game does not have the option to automatically delete trivial rows. I do not know what else to say. I rarely get frustrated with games and I don't think I've ever been frustrated by a game being too easy. Buy this game if you are desperate and addicted and cannot live without new 3d picross games. If you're looking for an actual challenge or actual detail or actual well designed puzzles, please look elsewhere.
It scratches the itch I had for more Picross 3D content. It's pretty easy to determine the common patterns present in every puzzle, which makes the difficulty as a whole somewhat lacking. Honestly though, I'm okay with that. I wasn't a huge fan of Voxelgram because I thought it was way too confusing, to a point of frustration. I'm just glad to see another Picross 3D successor, the more the merrier.
Voxelgram?
