Punch Club hooked me right away with its charming pixel art, killer retro soundtrack, and clever 80s references — spotting nods to Rocky, Fight Club, and Ninja Turtles never got old. The fighter management loop is genuinely engaging once you figure out your build, and the story does a surprisingly decent job carrying you through. That said, the stat decay system is brutally punishing early on, and the grind becomes a real slog — you spend so much time working jobs and eating beef just to tread water that it starts to feel less like a boxing game and more like a stressful life sim. If you go in with a plan and grab it on sale, there's a solid 15-20 hours of fun here; just don't expect it to stay exciting all the way through.
