Project Hybrid

This game is better than I expected. MUCH better actually, I really liked it! Project Hybrid can be defined as an admixture between a survival horror and a puzzle game, with very clever design choices for both in my opinion. Talking about the survival horror component, there is this constant feeling of dread and anxiety that is mainly fueled by the constant darkness and by the extreme aggressivity of the monsters, that can ambush you at any moment with brutal speed and efficiency. They literally come out of nowhere, because the darkness is so thick that even your trusty night vision camera can't pierce it further than just a few meters ahead, so the only way to spot the monsters from afar is looking for their little glowing eyes, or for their shadows when they pass by one of the few light sources. I'm honest, this is scary stuff, you never feel safe while roaming their hunting grounds. But the game is not frustrating at all, because you can make as many saved states as you want, whenever and wherever you like, so losing progress is practically impossible. Also, there are safe zones you can use to escape the monsters, and to plan your next move. Talking about the puzzles, I found them very clever, not too difficult, but not too easy either. I truly had to use my brain, because the game tells you nothing, you have to figure out what to do on your own, with the help of a few hints hidden in the environment. The atmosphere, as I said, is very scary and haunting, the level design is well thought, and, albeit the endings left me a bit disappointed, the story is very nice, I enormously appreciated the references to great classics such as The Island of Doctor Moreau and The Cabin in the Woods. Overall, a very fun and engaging horror game, definitely recommended. Cheers guys!

This game surprised me—in the best way. Project Hybrid is a fantastic blend of survival horror and puzzle-solving, with clever design choices in both areas. The survival horror aspect is truly intense. The constant darkness and the monsters’ aggressive, lightning-fast ambushes create a deep sense of dread. They come out of nowhere, and even with a night vision camera, visibility is minimal—you have to spot their glowing eyes or catch their shadows near light sources. It’s genuinely terrifying, but thankfully, the game avoids frustration by allowing unlimited manual saves and providing safe zones to regroup and plan. The puzzles are also well-designed—not too easy, not too hard. The game doesn’t hold your hand, so you have to piece things together using environmental hints, which I really enjoyed. The atmosphere is haunting, the level design is solid, and the story is compelling, with great nods to classics like The Island of Doctor Moreau and The Cabin in the Woods. The endings were a bit underwhelming, but overall, this was a fun, tense, and engaging horror experience. Absolutely recommended!
