I absolutely love the game, and probably have a couple 1000 hours of gametime across the game series since 2010, but as the years have gone by, I feel it isn’t progressing much. As this review is based on the 2021 version, I am not sure how many of these issues have been solved, but I will revisit that at a later date. To preface this review, I mostly play career mode and play with one of the workshop dbs, which adds races, teams and more rider. These are, however, not a big part of my criticism. Actually, being able to use custom dbs like this, is one of the things I like most about the game. I love developing talent in career mode and love trying to break old records, and bringing small teams to the top, so a lot of my criticism is based in how the career mode works. This is a comprehensive list of what I think could be done to improve the game, and I believe most apply to the 2023 version as well: Static sponsor goals – One of my biggest problems is that the sponsors don’t take falls and injuries into account. This can ruin an otherwise good season, if you don’t just restart, when your star crashes. Rider objectives – when planning the riders’ objectives for the season, there is no easy way to check the riders favourite races, which could very easily be indicated somewhere on the page, and it would be nice if the sponsors goals were simply listed on the side of the screen, when planning objectives Raceplanner – While planning the season, you can only see in which period the riders form is peaking, and not which race it is for – especially annoying at the time of Tirreno -Adriatico and Paris-Nice. Furthermore, it isn’t indicated when the rider will have a fitness peak, even though it is simple to calculate, and should be indicated on the page, just like form peaks are. More different stats on the archives page - it would be nice to see more stats. Fx showing the top 5 riders with most stage wins, showing most stage wins in all grand tours, not just showing nr. 1 in each category. Also record for youngest and oldest winners. AI squadbuilding – After some years, you start seeing sprinter teams, who have gathered 4 or 5 of the top 10 sprinters, but have no ridders for the classics and GC, and might not even have any good TT’ers. The teams become very unbalanced and skewed towards 1 niche of races. Furthermore, a lot of teams are very hesitant to fill their squads, and some even become world-tour teams, while only having 8 riders in their entire squad, and some continental teams wont even sign any riders. AI raceplanning – AI teams will often bring their top rider to all three grand tours in a year, or bring their worst cobble riders to Roubaix, which would never, or very rarely happen in real life. Some years into a career, it happens every year. Sponsors – It would be a lot more fun, and realistic, to be able to sign up to two sponsors, and to be able to sign multi-year deals. Furthermore, I have seen more than 2 teams having the same exact sponsor, actually up to 5 different teams, but that might be due to the workshop db – if it isn’t, please make sponsors mutually exclusive. Also, while playing career mode, the team will always have the nationality of the first team you chose, not matter how many times you change sponsors, which is both just visually not pleasing, and locks one of your options for a national team for the entire career. Staff – Maybe add more clarification of what impact the reputation of the staff has, or maybe just add their skills as stats, just like for the riders. A trainer could have 75 in mountain coaching, but 65 in sprinters – this would make them a lot more impactful Attributes – One of my biggest problems with the game is that I have to research what each attribute actually means, as that information isn’t easily accessible. Do something like football manger, where you can hover over a stat like Accelaration and then it says “How fast a rider accelerates to their max speed” or something in that order. Weather – Re-implement a rider being better or worse in rain/cold/heat, and maybe also at higher altitudes. Change how signing equipment suppliers work – it is not very fun to go in blind every single time, and end up with bad equipment, when you had 20 different options, just because you couldn’t access any information – at least being able to see a history of what suppliers you have had. Rider search – Possible to make birth region a criteria Races – Using previous years versions of races as in years after the first season, so you wont just be racing the same exact route forever – it gets stale. National, European and world championship jersey - Implementing national, European and world championship jerseys into leaders jerseys, like they do In real life maybe just a slight stripe across the stomach like Hushovds jersey in 2011 Contracts and morale – I have experienced riders being very unwilling to renew, since they didn’t race for a long time, but that was caused by an injury, and it feels stupid for them to be mad at the team because of that. Rider Stats – just like each year is summed up on a riders career page, there should also be a screen on the same page, where you can see all the victories of riders, how many in world tour, how many in grand tour, stuff like that. World championships – Make all countries able to go the world championship, like in real life, and base their number of riders on the coefficient list, like in real life. This would make it a lot more fun to race with obscure teams and nations. Maybe also add junior and youth world championships, and the baby giro Bastille day – maybe make this a goal for French riders? Crosswinds – Make them more common and more random. Not just the same crosswind happening on the same stage at the same place as the year before Further into the future – It would be nice to be able to implement VO2 max and Watts in some way, though I do not know how. As you can see, many of these are things happening outside of the races, and I believe that many of these things are not hard to implement, and could improve the enjoyment of career mode players a whole lot
Effectivement le pire de tous les PCM. "point positif" il est clair que ça peut pas être pire
good game, but getting water bottles in this game is sometimes a nightmare and have made me rage quit more than once.
