When my friends and myself did read ALL the changes you anounced, we where very happy to start this new edition... BUT... Where are ALL those so called 'more realism bringing' changes, the only 'real' change is that there now are European Championship rides ? What you mostley did (for +- 98%) = copy/paste 2020 and ask AGAIN 40 Euro's to have it !!! It's more an insult and showing no respect to the players that support you for years... *** We give this year (for the first time in all those years we play this game) a negative revieuw : Not for the game itself, but for making all those announcements & promissing changes not come true : because there is NOT more realism in the game as before... and it's bad we need to say that for a game that gives us a lot of playing time but could give us sooooooo much more... promissing words don't change a game ! (for example; get rid of the pointless 'point' system to look for new riders for the next season, make realism as the 'real' cycling world showing us the way things go... Thanks in advance for looking & making real changes in the future).
They bring out the same game very year and yet it feels buggy / unfinished. The training plan was easier to manage in PCM 2018. That was the last version i owned. The menu looks more modern but it is too complicated and unintuitive in handling. Another frustrating point is the peleton movements. Once PCM Daily give us their update it hopefully will be enjoyable but right now it wasn't for me. Whar does it say about a developer that for YEARS the game needs community modding to be good?
My last PCM was the 19. And the 21 is the same game -Same music -Same menu -Same carrer What a shame. It's like if you give money to a guy who insult you It's been how many year , the game is 95% like the previous version ?
I think since the release of Pro Cycling Manager 2011. A decade ago "10 years" to be exact. Cyanide Studio with the help of PUBLISHER: Nacon has been selling the same product year after year to its fans with a minimal patch, updates here and there in the graphics looks too. What a petty thing to do. You should be ashamed to resell the same game to us. But that is exactly what happens, when there is no others companies interested in making these types of games for a specific group of fans of international & national cycling modalities. I'm ashamed of this company for not having even a serious game developer "High scale" with discipline in what he or she does. Investing in a new software platform. Develop a game seriously from now on Cyanide Studio. When you invest, return comes back it makes the company grow bigger more money in your pockets. And by doing debt you get goods. You guys look like you're living in the last century. Get out of the stone age. Cyanide Studio If you think small! It will always be a small company. Go bigger in the investments!!! Learn from others big gamer developers. This is my favorite game since 2010. Every year I buy it. because i love cycling. But I have to not recommend this game with my thumb down sadly.
Cyanide is the worst company of all time. Year after year they are abusing the fact, that hardcore PCM-fans will buy the game no matter what. Even if it literally contains no changes from the previous year. Every new version could simply be a DLC. At this rate of development, there has been no point making new gameversions since 2015. Charging money for the new versions is just pure evil capitalism.
Right at the beginning of Pro Cycling Manager 2021, a tracker is initialized that joyfully and extensively makes a long-distance call to the developer. At our expense, of course.
What does the product do?
The product takes various hardware identifiers from the user for initialization. Furthermore, there is an online requirement. Players are forced to enter an email and a username even for the single-player game. Those who do not do so will be kicked out of the game. The active telemetry service tracks every action and sends it to Cyanide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3032041746
Who runs the product?
Developed by Cyanide Studio (aquired by BigBen Interactive, now Nacon) and published by Nacon (formerly BigBen Interactive)
Where are the service providers located
Cyanide Studio - Nanterre, Ile-de-France, France Nacon - Fretin, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
What data is collected?
Everything :] Cyanide is greedy, because how else could we have a new spin-off of this great series coming every year ^^ For the hardware recording alone (a single connection is established for each individual value), 17 TCP connections were opened. Since every click on a button is tracked in the game itself, this adds up to quite a lot in the end. Tracker is active under
51.91.72.28 http://web.cyanide-studio.com/metrics/get/pcm/index.php
Especially in this case "https" (secure connection and internet standard) seems not to have arrived in France yet (unfortunately again) Actually, you can say that "https" has more or less become the standard on the Internet after the Snowden leaks (2013) to "protect" against the US surveillance. They will only laugh about it and Cyanide and Nacon probably as well, because it is not the only product in their portfolio with insecure data transfers. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3032046286
Raw data examples
The "Value" is then exchanged with the value to be captured in each case
{ "build" : "1.0.6.2", "date" : "2023-09-07 02:58:56", "key" : "591127CBADF6D8B72F8625FFD7F47BA6", "platform" : "Win", "product" : "pcm", "revision" : "21", "session" : "22f0820293a5bcd91452353b759ae9c3", "stats" : [ { "type" : "generic", "value" : "HARDWARE RAM 32691" } ] }
Tracked Hardware
HARDWARE DirectXVersion DirectX 12 HARDWARE DisplayWidth 2560 HARDWARE GPU Manufacturer NVIDIA HARDWARE Proc CORECOUNT 12 HARDWARE Proc Speed 3593 HARDWARE GPU TotalVRam 28474 HARDWARE GPU DedicatedVRam 3072 OPTIONS_GAME FX 50 MUSIC 30 COMMENTS 50 RESOLUTION 2560x1440 FULLSCREEN 0 HCURSOR 1 PRESET 0 HARDWARE GPU Name NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 HARDWARE RAM 32691 HARDWARE Proc Desc AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor HARDWARE GPU DriverDate 14.08.2023 02:00:00 HARDWARE OS Windows 11 Enterprise 64-bit HARDWARE GPU Vendor-DeviceId 10de-2504 HARDWARE DisplayHeight 1440
In the game itself the code is extended a bit and player actions are tracked specifically. The first version I've bought since 2016. It is a great game, career mode very addictive if you're into that sort of thing. I like the new interface (although I don't know how new it is!), the way the races run is different but just as enjoyable and I think more realistic, and if there were no bugs then I'd be over the moon with the game in general. However... I always play career mode and start with a custom team, and there are always bugs that come in after a few seasons that make the game incredibly frustrating (riders you've signed get double-signed by another team so you end up a few riders short in your squad, team sponsorship just stops working after a few seasons, change in nationality of team sponsors not accounted for in objectives, training schedules of lesser riders no longer editable etc etc). I am interested to see whether any of these have been fixed for this new edition, as they don't become apparent straight away and I'm only 2 seasons into my game. So far in PCM21, the main bug I have found is that the European and World Championships (TT & road races) do not run, you click for a 3D race but it a) runs a quick simulation and b) excludes all the riders in my team. Judging by some other (slightly more argumentative!) comments on here, it doesn't look like I'm alone in finding that. Especially frustrating since this was happening in the Worlds TT race in the 2016 game, so I'd have hoped in 5 years this would have been sorted... If you love road cycling and management sims like Football Manager etc, then I'm pretty sure this is the best option out there. There are aspects of it that aren't realistic, but that's OK - its a game. However there are also bugs that are really poor (certainly in career mode with a custom team - the only mode I've really tried). Ideally it would be great if there was an easy, transparent way of reporting these so they could be fixed quickly. Would appreciate a reply from Team PCM on the above, and I will certainly be posting back on here if any of the other bugs I've found in previous versions of the game start rearing their ugly heads again in 2021!
I don't know how to say it in english, but in french we call this "foutage de gueule". Same game as always. Some little changes but not worth 40 €. It is at best a DLC. I love how they didn't even bother to change the tutorial telling you how to adjust training intensity with +, ++, +++ or 0 while this function is no longer present. Edit, : after two patches, the game is still full of game-breaking bugs. DO NOT BUY THIS SCAM!
I buy and play this game year by year, with positive or less positive changes from an edition to another. But PCM21 mess up things in ITT and TTT, making time trials competitions PCM's "cinderella". First, the producers introduce the red bar, I guess for sprinting in TT competitions, which is crazy. I don't know when to use this energy from red bar. In TTT with 99 speed all riders of my team look like a bunch of amators (they accelerate and stop all the time). Second thing is that in prologues and short ITT's (until 15-20 km, depending on type of profile) with 85 speed the rider will finish the stage with energy left. If you go with speed over 85 you lose red bar. Crazy changes! Third thing is speed on curves. Who saw in real life a cyclist on a TT stage entering in curves with speed as on straight road. I hope the producers will see my comment and they will try ITT's and TTT's to see what stoopid things they did to this type of races. Shame on them! They disrespect buyers of the game. It's almost half a year from game launching and I still don't get it how to play TT's.
It's the only cycling management game and it's basically great but DONT BUY IT . Buy an older version. This version was released as a beta or even alpha version with so obvious bugs. You can safely say that many things haven't been even tested once before release. New features are buggy as hell (e.g. championships) and some were not even mentioned on the shop site (like wind zones). The release and price policy over the last years reached it's climax with this (like my frustration). It feels like getting scammed by a company that's trying to milk a dead cow. My recommendation: buy the 2020 version and you will have way less pain in your a**.
