A psychological horror game with NO jumpscares. Feel the tension and suspense, get goosebumps, experience strange frightening events, and explore, look for keys, solve puzzles, while thinking hard to find a way to get out of this huge, and maybe not so empty prison.

Es ist nicht gruselig, es ist langweilig.
Prison Alone, developed by Gaister Studios and published by Farmando XP, is an indie horror title that embraces restraint in a genre often dominated by loud scares and relentless pursuit mechanics. Its premise is immediately intriguing: after a series of unexplained disappearances force the evacuation of a prison, one inmate sees an opportunity for freedom. By convincing a guard to leave him behind during the chaos, he believes escape is finally within reach. Instead, he finds himself trapped in a place that feels increasingly unnatural, where every corridor hides another unsettling secret. The game's greatest strength lies in how effectively it uses its setting. The abandoned prison is more than a backdrop; it serves as the foundation for the entire experience. Long cell blocks, dim maintenance areas, and forgotten administrative offices create a persistent sense of unease. The environment encourages exploration, rewarding players with clues that gradually reveal the truth behind the prison's sudden abandonment. Rather than overwhelming players with constant danger, Prison Alone allows tension to build naturally, turning silence into one of its most powerful tools. Gameplay revolves around exploration and puzzle-solving. Players spend much of their time locating keys, unlocking new sections of the facility, and piecing together fragments of the story. The puzzles are accessible without feeling overly simplistic, maintaining momentum while ensuring that the narrative remains the primary focus. There are moments of backtracking that can occasionally slow the pace, but the oppressive atmosphere helps maintain engagement throughout these quieter stretches. The game understands that horror often works best when players are left alone with their thoughts. Psychological horror is clearly the central design philosophy. Prison Alone intentionally avoids relying on excessive jump scares, instead opting for subtle visual cues and unsettling events that make players question what is happening around them. Strange noises echo through empty hallways, shadows seem to linger a little too long, and the prison itself begins to feel alive. This approach gives the game a distinct identity, especially for players who appreciate horror experiences that emphasize mood and suspense over immediate shock value. Visually, the title makes good use of lighting and environmental design to enhance immersion. While it does not possess the graphical fidelity of larger productions, it compensates with effective art direction and a consistent atmosphere. Sound design deserves particular praise, as ambient effects contribute significantly to the sense of isolation. At times, the lack of music can be more unnerving than any soundtrack, forcing players to focus on every creak and distant sound within the prison walls. That said, some rough edges remain evident in character interactions and animation quality, reminding players of the game's indie origins. Prison Alone ultimately succeeds because it remains committed to its vision from beginning to end. It delivers a focused horror experience centered on mystery, exploration, and psychological tension without attempting to become something it is not. While players seeking intense action or highly complex mechanics may come away wanting more, fans of atmospheric horror will find plenty to appreciate. Gaister Studios has created a memorable journey through an abandoned prison that lingers in the imagination, proving that sometimes the fear of being alone is more effective than any monster lurking in the dark. Rating: 6/10

It's a short but well-made game that evokes a good sense of horror and suspense; I liked it. It's also well-polished.
