Man, what is there to say. Ive played the game "Boiling Point" wich was made by this studio when I was younger and it still is one of my favorit game of all time. Sadly Ive never knew it had a second installment namely "Xenus White Gold" and I wouldve absolutely loved to play Precursors when I was younger. However I can still completely enjoy this game and recommend it to everyone that is looking for classic good games that offer alot of depth. This one right here is a space adventure with so much possabilities, you wont forget, IF you can overlook the outdated graphics and animations.
Sadly unfinished but fun to see, you can get a flyer in the first level if you use set clip = 1 and fly up to the platform. Apparently the flyer was available for the player to buy in game in version 1.0... i have no clue why they would remove the best part of the game like that..weird. I reccomend you go get it back. Just a warning tho, If you are using the flyer and you run back to the spot where you are first standing upon entering goldin for the first time, npcs will take over your flyer and u gotta load an old save. So i reckon you get the parcel quest out of the way first, then get flyer, then enjoy like 20 gameplay hours of goldin getting all the sidequests and leveling up and playing the game! Plus the npcs always talk about the flyer as if you have one, so it makes more sense to just grab it. also if you gonna play precursors, disable its vsync in options, enable vsync in nvidia instead, and also use reshades new forcefullscreen=true option which is located inside reshade.ini. It completely fixed the odd mouse feel for me. also install the community patch (so you get a postprocess folder added into your game directory) and 0kb all the txt files inside there. This will disable motion blur, bloom,HDR, dof, and sharpening. You can also go into videooptions.ini and set all mipmaploadbias values to 0.00. This disables a slight blur the game has. A positive mip bias = blur. A negative mip bias = sharpening. Set it to 0.00 (Nvidias override to clamp mip does not work on precursors for whatever reason so this must be done if you care about that sort of thing) That file can be found in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Precursors\INI also the games completely open world and all the zones are loaded into the games ram at once. I even mapped out how to get to the other worlds from goldin. That was a lot of fun. I even found a hidden dev testing room with an 18 wheeler and green mech that arent useable in the main game. Oh and a bug/snail thing i never seen before. https://i.imgur.com/e9gVtox.jpg sidenote i used cheatengine (with custom hotkey alt+c that i set for start/stop speed toggle) at x4 gamespeed. I nowadays use cheatengine no matter what game i am playing. All games have long animations or dumb cutscenes you cant skip so i always make sure to have CE running. Its really not cheating because it makes combat impossible. Its just for moments that are stupid and need to be sped up! anyways i got the game running right now, the reason my hours are off is because steams stupid DRM wouldnt let me use the 4gb patcher on the games exe, but if you check out my youtube randalmcdaniel i did have a lot of fun playing through all the deepshadows games over the past like 70 days of my life. What an adventure! Im still not done! But im sad the actual literal main storys and games are done now :(. Like really sad. Like these were the best games i ever discovered out of nowhere in my life. Cuz finding games out of nowhere that are obscure/unknown and awesome really is AMAZING. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xtBa_gVB_E&t=1168s i did 100 hours before i beat it, but i literally do everything when i love a game like this. A regular person could probably beat it in a day and just be like meh if they didnt do any of the sidequests. The space is honestly super high quality. ITs hard to hit enemies with blaster tho because its like real ballistics
Pretty solid game. Blends a lot of science fiction and open-world styles into one. Definitely similar to a lot of the biggest franchises of the time while keeping its slavjank charm. It's worth picking up if you don't mind a lot of travel time between quests and npcs.
Because of the terrible mouse acceleration that can't be fixed by anything, panic attacks have started, definitely a downside.

This is a thumbs up with a BIG caveat - I ran into a game-breaking bug and was unable to finish Precursors after 10 hours of playtime, which was very saddening. However, I'm still giving it a thumbs up because I really liked the parts of the game I was able to access and I went into the game knowing it has a reputation for being essentially unfinished (due to financial issues) So, I was prepared for a sudden ending already - it's just that the ending came even earlier for me! Precursors is one of those underground immersive sims that can be quite jarring at first as you get accustomed to its unusual systems and pacing. I almost gave up on it between the 1-2 hour mark, but then things started to "click" and I got familiar enough with its quirks to become immersed in the adventure. The graphics also look really good on a modern computer, lots of creative design and atmospheric lighting - the visual style is a little reminiscent of Halo 1 and Half Life 2 with a big dollop of Star Wars influence mixed in. The gameplay mixes a lot of different ideas - inventory management and equipment maintenance reminiscent of Arma/DayZ, open world FPS/RPG adventuring and side questing like Fallout 3, vehicle combat like Halo, open universe space travel/combat like Elite/No Man's Sky - it was hugely ambitious and could honestly have been a masterpiece if developed and polished to a more stable and complete version. The closest comparison I could give this game's "vibe" is Knights of the Old Republic - this surprises me, because the actual mechanics are completely different and the action is way more like the other games mentioned - but the overall structure of the experience reminds me of KOTOR: moving between distinct locations on different planets (each planet featuring its own sub-story that feeds into your main quest), then doing bits and pieces onboard your ship in between worlds. I wish Precursors could have got a finished edition - it's so close to being an amazing game. Still, I'm glad it exists and I was able to explore its universe if only a little bit.
Ех, Deep Shadows, на найцікавішому...
