This is an excellent game that simulates the Cold War well.
GOOD GAME
its aight
Pretty interesting sim of the cold war!
Precipice is a very fun game. To sum up the game play: It's basically like a Cold War chess set. My biggest complaint is it's over reliance on RNG to determine the outcome of events. If you hate RNG as much as I do, most likely you will develop an intense love/hate relationship with this game.
Good basic strategy game to play when you're tired of how complex hoi4 is
Fun
It's a good board game idk what else to say edit: one of my favorite games of all tlime
Amazing game, and very fun. The only problem this game has is that you can't play online due to a lack of players. There are literally not people online to play this two player game.
I've spotted this game I think 2 yrs before I've bought it. First impression was it was humorous board game variation with various "tongue & cheek" decisions. I wasn't very far from reality here, but that is a good point here. Here you have fast-paced Cold War strategy where you can set the turn limit, you can be the "Free World" leader masked as a eagle or "Evil Empire" leader with bear incarnation, and also you have various animals around you as a friends, or foes or neutral buddies, which you can manipulate in various ways. Most animals are accurate cartoons of historic leaders from Cold War era, and if you're expert for that part of history, they're actually easily recognizable. Primary point is to outsmart rival but avoiding the pushing the notorious red button. The rival is actually watching your every step and he's actually trying to find weak spot in your doctrine and your approach to the rest of world. Sometimes he'll try to bribe your allies, rig the elections or even invade your ally. But the point is, you can do the same with or without consuequences to his satellites. From trading aid to protests, from coups to sabotages, various spy missions and so on. If you're spotted, the tensions can escalate to very serious ones. AI is actually the biggest plus here, he is adapting to your gamestyle and actually he tries at most parts to imitate you. It's like playing chess on intermediate levels. In the first session I was agressive for funny moment, and AI was also very agressive until the point of nuclear meltdown. In second session AI was more adaptive and actually tried to understand my pace, but sometimes provoking my reaction for pushing the button (and failed). Third session was mostly diplomatic one and AI's invasions were even less frequent. Spy game is actually minigame or game within the game. The rules are simple, Reds and Blues have limited amount of spies, which are used for destabilizing most countries. It's simple cat & mouse game, if you're detected, you lose the spy and vice versa, and there aren't replacement pools here. The premise of the game is to be sassy and show agression, but until the certain point. If you're too agressive, you face several consuequences, from direct confrontation to civil unrest in your home country, and voila you lost. Space race is actually simple and you can achieve it for couple of turns, but satellite part has couple of benefits, mostly in espionage. If I can describe the mechanics....they're simple board mechanics with downgraded Grand Strategy options, similar to HOI4 or EU family, easy to learn hard to master with endless options for casual gamers. And also, like in 1990s games, there's also the player-vs-player hotseat mode. Music is dubstep inspired, somewhat inappropriate for this game, but I was expecting 80s synth 8-bit themes, no serious con, but just not my taste. Is it worth trying? Yes. If you don't want big time-wasting strategy, go ahead and try it. Final verdict: 8.5/10.
