UPDATE after 40 hours - After a short learning curve with the UI, it's smooth sailing. I am loving this game! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like it so far. I have the physical game but haven't played it yet. (Can't get any friends to try new stuff) I took a chance on this, even with all the negative UI reviews. I'm glad I did! I watched one how to video and had no trouble finishing my first game. To be fair, the UI isn't the best but it's not as bad as all the reviews make it out to be. I lost the first game against two easy AIs, although I did accidentally discard the wrong power plant once. More games will tell if they are any good. Don't be scared off by the bad UI reviews. It's totally playable as is, and has the potential to be a really good game.
The UI is a bit clunky as other reviewers have noted, but for experienced players of the board game the UI quirks can be learned. It can also link to your BrettSpielWelt account. The AI players are relatively weak, but are still useful for trying odd strategies. For experienced Power Grid players I think it is overall worth it. However, I would not recommend this for new players and would suggest starting with the board game first instead.
Thank you so much for making this game available on Steam. I really enjoy play Power Grid Board Game and I do not own a hard copy of the game now. This way I can really continue to enjoy to play this board game. Thanks
This is not a hidden information game. Yet the amount of money opponents have is hidden. The UI is clunky. The AI is passable. The options menu is basically non-existent. For purposes of the UI alone, this is a non-recommend.
I love the board game, but this one... well, it's quite difficult to play. UI is not intuitive and easy to use, and this makes the game slow and rough.
This game is very, very basic in its programming. UI is not great, sound effects abrasive, game play not smooth. Its playable, and does match the board game in rules/gameplay, but the computer version looks like a student programming project rather than a professional paid game.
Very poor and ugly implementation of a decent board game.
