jeu tué par sa trop mauvaise jouabilité: la façon de se déplacer dans l'espace est horrible, et c'est beaucoup trop sombre. je passe.
A fairly good game. Puzzles were generally easy, although a walk-through was required in one instance. Game-play was unnecessarily let down by having to repeatedly adjust the screen contrast/brightness levels. Game ending was poor - Too sudden.
Niezła przygodówka w nieco okultystycznych klimatach z kilkoma nietrudnymi zagadkami do rozwiązania. W promocji można brać i grać.
edit: review text unchanged but flipped to a non-recommendation due to issues and annoyances. escape room games are starting to become a dime a dozen on steam and possession 1881 isn't among the best, but it's definitely among the most expensive without anything to back up the comparatively high asking price. the game starts in a dark house, as usual, no intro or anything. point & click movement and interaction through 7 locations in a decent-sized mansion, but the sense of exploration is mostly absent, as there are only a few places you can move to in each room, and find very little of interest there, then pretty quickly move to the next location, and so on. the story, which always takes a backseat in such games, is about the occult, witchcraft and wizardry and all that, and it's told via letters and notes found around the house, but it's very generic and the ending is completely underwhelming, then you're dropped back to the desktop after the credits. how elegant. the biggest annoyance is that you have to constantly use the torch to reveal the surroundings and light candles and lanterns. the former is achieved by scrolling up, the latter by scrolling down and clicking the object, which is unnecessarily complicated and confusing. scroll down could be used to bring up the inventory instead of right click, and that in turn could back out of puzzles, not only clicking the back button all the time. there's absolutely no upside to the torch thing, it's just incredibly annoying because it goes out every half minute or so (or immediately after examining anything in the inventory) and there aren't enough permanent light fixtures, so you often have to light puzzles up too. there are no brightness settings and cranking it up on the desktop doesn't really help either, so a 'torch always on' setting would go a long way, preferably with a 'torch sound off' option because it's pretty jarring after a while. I found the camera kinda weird too. opening a drawer makes it automatically zoom in on the contents, then whatever's inside gets picked up with a pop-up saying what it is, then the camera zooms out and you get back control. the same pop-up appears after solving inventory puzzles, and those would definitely need optional x/y axis flips because rotating items is a pain. and after examining something the camera occasionally freaks out and you get turned around. rotating dials takes way too long as well, and of course it can only be done in one direction. the presentation is average, the graphics are mediocre, sound effects are functional, music is almost non-existant. I didn't particularly like the puzzles, least of all the one in the sewer that took me 20 minutes with the extremely grating valve squeaking noise repeating a million times, and of course what would we do without a xylophone puzzle? some of the stuff was pretty clever though, and the exclusion of sliding, lights out and math nonsense was a pleasant surprise. it works on win7 despite the win8 minimum on the store page, resolutions and windowed mode via the unity launcher, no settings in the main menu (big no-no!), and they're only for separate volumes and camera pan speed, nothing else. no autosaves, but manual saving and loading is possible anytime, except there's only one slot and no timestamp, nor overwrite confirmation. while I can't really say anything overly positive about the game, it works and should somewhat satisfy fans of the genre for about 3 hours, but seeing as the escaper is 3.29 eur and escape: the brother's saloon is 6.59 eur and they both offer a similar amount of content and came out around the same time, originally asking 14, then 10 eur for this was insulting even without the fact that it's inferior to both of them in every possible way, and the torch constantly going out is maddening. however, in june 2021 full price went down to 4 eur, which is pretty reasonable, though I'd still recommend playing the other games first.
Fun puzzle game. Controls are different and a tad awkward at times most of the puzzles are pretty easy. But it is fun and has a decent and dark story to go along with it. I'm not sure the price is justified but it was a decent game.
Loved this and wish it was longer. Need to find some other games like this :)
Sadly, this is unpleasent and boring. Good luck for the next game, and I mean it!
Boring. Unundestandable plot. Seems old game.
