POLYBIUS is a fast, trippy tunnel shooter playable on a normal screen or in VR. 50 levels of blissful trance shooting action are set to a blistering soundtrack. The PS4 version was EDGE Magazine's VR GOTY in 2017, and the PC version of the game was even used as the basis for a NIN music video.

Back in middle school I showed a friend Touhou and I think this is what he saw. Don't play this if your eyes are sensitive. Tempest was one of the games that inspired the Polybius story, so perfect for Jeff Minter and Llamasoft, creators of Tempest 2000 and TxK, to work on an "official" version. It's distinct from those though, being more like a traditional rail shooter than Tempest's fixed Tube Shooter style. Rather than overt evil, this goes for visual overstimulation. A normal video game that makes me feel the way this game does would be negative, but this turns that feeling into an art. Separating the noise from the signal is the challenge of this game, while still having a mechanically solid game underneath. Of course, there were definitely times when I had no idea what made me die and I repeated stages without knowing what was going on multiple times in a row, but I was able to persevere. Soundtrack's great as usual too. Normal VR makes me feel sick so I wouldn't dare try this game's VR mode even if I had a headset. I only cleared Normal mode. Pure and YOLO mode are definitely not for me. Not even just out of difficulty, I'm also worried my eyes would hurt.
Best VR experience 10/10 - psychedelic fun from Jeff Minter. Do not try in a neurotypical state!
It's good.
Quite the entrancing experience. It does an amazing job of being a hypnotically fun experience while still posing a good challenge. While some levels do feel a bit too difficult, the majority of the levels are excellent. The difficulty curve is pretty steady as well.
Amazing, trippy, very British. All that you can expect and love from Llamasoft
my eyeballs explode with delight
Come on Yak, make this standalone for the Q3 headset instead of relying on faulty steam!

Absolutely mesmerizing! One of Llamasoft's best for sure. You can lose yourself in this - completely getting in the zone at breakneck speeds it's wonderful. Put your VR goggles on and treat even more of your senses to a full on sensory buzz! WheeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeee
