About
Pole vaulting in real life is both difficult and dangerous
Not unlike this game
POLE VAULT is a precision platformer where you play as a stretchy newt. The newt's passion for pole vaulting lets them launch high into the sky. Vault your way to the top of the tower to achieve victory. In POLE VAULT, you'll climb up a single, huge tower. You can expect your performance to be evaluated when you reach the apex.
The end of your pole is a cursor that you control. Drag your pole into the ground while moving, time your release, and be sent flying through the air. Catch yourself on the edges of platforms. Pogo bounce directly from a fall to maintain the highest speed.

Have been eager to play Newt Game ever since the devs posted on r/IndieGaming a couple weeks ago, and boy oh boy does it hold up to the hype. Controls are incredibly innovative which makes the gameplay really unique and fun to move around. The game is super challenging, but every time I've fallen back to start I still have a smile on my face because of how much charm is in this game. Would love to see an endless mode (even if just horizontal for distance) get added for replayability as well as some more newt-like sounds. The sound effect of a man grunting every time you vault for a cute little newt is really the only thing that took me out of this beautifully crafted world. In my dream world, it would be awesome to have a multiplayer feature, similarly to the Lost Egg series. Imagining a group of newts all trying to climb together--what could be better than that?! Well worth the $4 and can't recommend enough if you want a fun, charming, cute challenge.
This game is fun and entertaining. A great game to pass the time! A game always has flaws and this one is no exception. While I really like the vibrant neon colors, I feel like this game lacks structure. The overall design of the map is pretty basic. The music has a unique and vibrant feel to it. Great for the background while playing this game! I really like the feel of the movement how how the character swiftly moves. I do feel as though the pole could be more accurate as to where the players cursor adjusts it to. For example, when you look all the way down the pole resets and points straight up. But, I really like the physics of launching and how holding your right click for a longer duration of time when launching - boosts the character more in the air. If you were a fan of "Getting over it" you will likely like this game. While "Pole Vault" has a similar feel, it is a completely unique new game. This game will definitely keep you immersed. Don't let its vibrant design cloud your judgement though, this game will be difficult at times based on how well the player understands the launching aspect - and that will come with trial and error from playing this game. This game has so much potential and I can't wait for more! Definitely recommend giving this game a try!

While visually interesting, the gameplay opened up by being so obtuse that it very quickly left me completely uninterested in continuing. The pole would not work in any consistent way and was just unusable. With that being the only way you really have to get around, I'm not going to bother putting myself through that. It does not matter if the visuals are good when the gameplay is so abysmal.
very good. VERY VERY GOOD. pole x jeremy (the newt)
its good for what it is
First things first. I love single mechanics game that extend the game and give depth to that single mechanic. Also i love the artstyle. Character controller is a bit weak but it tries to be physics so its ok. The pole is weird. It has its own movement logic which I cannot understand. Slapping a difficult tag with something that doesnt make sense isnt good gameplay logic. Atleast the pole should be consistent ? idk I wanted to give this a Positive review cuz i love underrated indie games. however it has to be a negative for now.
I really love the art style and the controls feel a lot of fun to play. It's something that you'll struggle with at first but then later find yourself breezing through the same parts with ease, which is very satisfying. And I'm not even close to beating it yet. I personally found the music to be a bit lacking. It feels very simple and repetitive, especially if you spend a lot of time near the bottom. Plus, you can't really pause the game (at this moment, at least) and it has led to me losing progress while paused multiple times. But I'd recommend anyone try it out for themselves, especially since it's pretty affordable. Edit: Just beat it at 5.4 hours. Such a good feeling. Fun game!

It's like if a rage game were fun! The movement feels really good and the world is unique and beautiful!
https://youtu.be/FkrAOZEieFo Offering a silly theme and mechanic with a 'rage' tower to climb, it's well implemented outside some camera issues but not much depth overall.
