Pocket Penguin DX ( ポケットペンギン): A Retro Style Adventure

This is a cool, adorable, charming platformer that becomes quite challenging in the last level. It controls well, the music is awesome, and it emulates the game boy feel perfectly. The main mechanic is your bombs are used as makeshift platforms, and as your weapon. You have to manage them well, especially on bosses - because getting stuck in an area when your bombs are on cooldown is almost a sure death sentence. It's very engaging and I loved it. This is an easy recommendation for anyone, and especially if you like platformers.

I've been playing this game... AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!! This game really capture the feeling and the aesthetic of the Game Boy games.. so If you are a retro enthusiast... You'll love it.

Even if I didn't play 8 bits games on its time, with Pocket Penguin I can feel a very nostalgic vibe, somehow it remembers me of my childhood. Fun, entertaining and a real challenge!

【25.5/6追記】開発者様がきちんとフィードバックに応えていただけまして、自身のゲームを大事にしていると好感を持てます。 日本語実装もありがとうございます、もしまた時間の隙間がありましたら再度ゲームをプレイさせていただきます。 -------------------------------------------------------------------- このゲーム自体は凄く良いゲームと感じられます。 ただ「何故私がオススメしないのか」、理由についてはレビュー内容を良くご覧ください。 雰囲気的に「星のカービィ2」（英名：Kirby's Dream Land 2）を彷彿とさせる見た目で、そのようなゲームなのかなと思いました。 爆弾要素は把握してましたが、カービィでもボム能力はありますし、主に攻撃手段に用いる用途中心かと思いました。 ただ、PVでも良く見ると爆弾で足場を作り、それで進んでいる部分もあるんですよ。 ゲーム性がまるで「星のカービィ2のイメージとは違う」、そのような理由で肩透かしを喰らいました。 いや、しかしこれはこれで面白いとも思えます。 しかし私が感じた率直な感想としましては、爆弾で足場を生成しながら進んで行くのが「テンポが悪い」と感じました。 アクションは割りとサクサク進めて行きたい派なので、サクサク進めたい私とは仕様が噛み合わなかった、そういう事です。 ゲーム自体は普通に楽しめそうでやり込めそうな内容です。 しかし「カービィ2のような内容ではない」「テンポが悪い」と、2つも肩透かしでは「オススメ出来ない」寄りでしょうか。 初見では1-2で、一見爆弾を増やせないと詰み状態に見えてしまい、私はその為に1-1でコイン集め周回をやりまくりました。 しかし実際は爆弾を足場にして進めますので、この仕様を理解しないと不要な周回さえもさせられます。 しかも貯めたコインをショップで意図せず消費させられ（買う気も無いアイテムなのにジャンプで触れたら勝手に購入扱い……）、少々システム回りも不親切に感じられました。 1-2の爆弾で足場を作る地帯には、看板などでチュートリアル的な文面を設けるべきです。 商品に関しても「触れたら購入になってしまう」と言う仕様は、事前に知っておきたかった情報です。 それとゲーム中Rボタンを押してもリセットが機能せず。 コントローラー云々以前にキーボード側のボタンでもリセット不可なので、バグでしょうか？ 現状ゲーム終了手段がAlt+F4、もしくはTabキーでsteamクライアントを出してから停止を押すしかありません。 私の環境だけなのか分かりませんが、終了の仕方に関しては他のレビュワーも言及されていましたね。

Fun Gameboy like game that has a lot of charm and great pixel art. In my opinion, it would have been a lot more fun if it was made like Kirby's bomb powerup (throw bombs at enemies). This could of been a really good Kirby clone. Maybe make the Penguin have Kirby's bomb powerup in Pocket Penguin 2? Anyways, I'm still having fun playing it, and I'm happy I helped kickstart it :D

Really fun and cute game, if this existed on Gameboy when I was a kid, I'd have definitely owned it!

is a cute little game - however the price point is not something I would recommend due the simplicity of the gameplay and the amount the bugs. Achievements don't work and you cannot even exit the game through a menu, you need to alt+f4... kinda crazy.

Pocket Penguin es un juego hecho con cariño, el diseño de niveles es bastante ingenioso, lo cual lo hace muy entretenido, ademas de que cuenta con una buena dificultad. También cabe resaltar el estilo de game boy y la banda sonora, pues hay temas muy buenos. Este titulo es muy recomendado y deberías tenerlo en tu biblioteca
