Plazma Being, developed and published by Hedge Knight Games, is a compact puzzle-platformer that builds its entire experience around a single, imaginative idea: controlling a fluid, energy-based organism in a hostile alien environment. You play as Zeb, a glowing, shape-shifting entity abducted and abandoned on a strange world, and your journey is less about traditional platforming skill and more about understanding how to manipulate your own form to survive. The premise is simple, but it provides a strong foundation for a game that prioritizes thoughtful interaction over reflex-driven action. What immediately sets the game apart is how it handles movement and control. Zeb is not bound by the usual rules of platforming; instead, he can alter his form and interact with the environment in ways that feel unconventional. Movement becomes an extension of puzzle-solving, as players must consider how to use Zeb’s properties to overcome obstacles, navigate hazards, and reach otherwise inaccessible areas. This gives the game a distinct rhythm, where progress depends on observation and experimentation rather than speed or precision alone. The level design is structured to gradually introduce and expand on these mechanics. Early stages act as a gentle introduction, allowing players to familiarize themselves with the core abilities without overwhelming them. As the game progresses, new challenges are layered on top of these fundamentals, requiring more deliberate thinking and creative problem-solving. The puzzles often rely on understanding how different elements of the environment interact with Zeb’s form, leading to satisfying moments when a solution becomes clear. While the difficulty curve is generally balanced, there are occasional moments where the game introduces ideas somewhat abruptly, which can briefly disrupt the otherwise steady progression. Visually, Plazma Being embraces a colorful 2D style that emphasizes contrast and clarity. Zeb’s bright, glowing form stands out against darker, more subdued environments, making it easy to track movement and interactions. The alien landscapes, while not highly detailed, are varied enough to keep the experience visually engaging, with subtle changes in tone and design across different areas. The animations, particularly those tied to Zeb’s transformations, add a layer of charm and reinforce the uniqueness of the central mechanic. The presentation is modest, but cohesive and effective in supporting the gameplay. The audio design follows a similarly restrained approach. Background music and sound effects are used to complement the experience rather than dominate it, creating a calm and focused atmosphere that suits the puzzle-driven gameplay. While the soundtrack may not be particularly memorable, it serves its purpose well, maintaining immersion without becoming distracting. Where the game shows its limitations is in its overall scope. The experience is relatively short, with a playthrough lasting only a few hours depending on how quickly puzzles are solved. This brevity helps maintain a consistent pace, ensuring that the core mechanic does not become stale, but it also limits the game’s ability to fully explore its potential. There are moments where it feels as though the concept could have been expanded further, with more complex interactions or a wider variety of challenges. Replay value is also somewhat limited. Once the puzzles have been solved, there is little incentive to revisit the levels, as the solutions remain largely the same. Additionally, while the game’s mechanics are creative, they do not evolve significantly beyond their initial introduction, which can make later stages feel like extensions of earlier ideas rather than entirely new experiences. Despite these constraints, Plazma Being succeeds in delivering a focused and engaging experience. Its strength lies in its commitment to a central idea and its ability to build a cohesive gameplay loop around that concept. It avoids unnecessary complexity, instead refining its mechanics to create a series of puzzles that are both approachable and satisfying to solve. The result is a game that feels deliberate and well-considered, even if it does not aim for large-scale ambition. In the end, Plazma Being is a strong example of how a simple concept can carry a game when executed with care. It offers a short but enjoyable journey that emphasizes creativity and problem-solving, leaving a positive impression despite its modest scope. For players who appreciate puzzle-platformers with a unique twist, it provides a worthwhile experience that stands out through its originality rather than its scale. Rating: 7/10
Конечно, игра хорошая, но слишком сложно для моих 12 IQ
After having this game on my library sitting at 0% achievements for 9 years, i can finally check this game off my 100% to-do list, the game was quite fun if you like platform physics puzzle games, however on level 7, if you die at the end when the shooter drone spawns, there's a 70% chance the game will hard lock, and you'll need to restart the entire level. I'm assuming this happens when the game tries to spawn the drone again and fails to. This game took around 2.7 hours to 100% start to finish.
