I went back and forth on this review for ages. At the start I was really enjoying this game then I took a break from it for ages just not feeling the pull to go back to it. When I finally came back to finish the game it felt like such a drag to get it finished. Perhaps Pixel Survivors just doesn't have the same long term enjoyment for me as other games do.
EDIT2: It can be fun, but there are just too many small issues. Fun stuff only get unlocked when you're already many hours into the game, instead of a progressive unlock like other Vampire Survivor clones. If you really REALLY want a VS clone for cheap, then ok. The "One Skill" mode is pretty fun, taking a single skill to game-breaking limits. My original review follows: It's okay, buy it for cheap if you're curious. As far as Vampire Survivors clone goes, this is really just it, a clone. It feels like they put together anything they could to create the game, without really adding anything to the formula. Worse, this game is extremely RNG-Heavy, you can get lucky and get powerful upgrades soon, which win you the game, or you may never get anything useful and be doomed from the start. Something else that really botters me is the broken english, I've encountered a few ambiguous effect descriptions that left me wondering what's really going on with them... in a game where you should be able to find overpowered synergies and break it, unclear descriptions are a sin. Come on game, what do you mean by "reduced by 2 times"? Is it halved? Is it the base, or the total? "If already full, convert 20% into maximum" MAXIMUM WHAT? If it is full, what will what be converted into what? The music is very short, boring and repetitive. The sound effects are... fine, but glitch often as you increase stats. At 2x atk speed the sound is fine, suddenly at 4x atk speed it sounds like 1x atk speed. The heavy RNG makes it grindy in a boring way, since you can't really control much like you can in other Vampire Survivor clones; again, there's nothing new here, there's no fun creative mechanic, it's really just a simple VS clone. The starting characters/classes feel unbalanced. I do not regret buying it for the low price I paid, but I can't recommend this VS clone when there are much better options. If you really like bad games and are looking for something almost brainless to play/grind, feel free to give it a try. EDIT: forgot to mention that there's no consistent art style, there's pixel, hand-drawn-like, and some really out of place high quality effects/particles, it's a mess.

Pixel Survivors : Roguelike
One of the earliest Vampire Survivors clones on the market, wasn't expecting a whole lot from this game but I was definitely surprised, it feels very similar to Nomad Survival. Good variety of weapons and passives can be levelled for a ridiculously long time.
Gameplay
Before I get into the good, I want to make a list of the bad: hitboxes aren't great and a lot of the time it's impossible to tell where damage came from. Winning runs is kinda reliant on being able to pick up items from chests, having to pick them up is an issue in itself but this game doesn't have a weapon transparency setting so it's often hard to see near your character with certain weapons. There's a good variety of weapons that all feel unique, alongside which you are offered passives that can be levelled hundreds of times, weapons have multiple evolutions that are seemingly offered at random and there are tonnes of artifacts that grant huge boosts that are also just offered at random, these just lead to never being bored levelling up. I'm glad there is a Quick-mode, it reduces run time from 30 to 15 mins and you can even x2 speed to take runs down to 7.5 mins, and you can continue all runs into endless. It makes the game very fast-paced. The game is very basic compared to a lot of the better takes on the genre but it's cheap on sale for a quick completion.
Achievements (118/118)
Fairly easy completion, lots can be done in a single run, challenges can be stacked and are all relatively easy to complete.
Settings/Accessibility/Misc
Works well on steamdeck but had a performance issue in one lategame run. Keyboard, mouse and gamepad support. 10 languages supported.
TL;DR
Short and simple early bullet-heaven. Poor hitboxes. Good variety of weapons and huge amount of upgrades. Quick runs between 7.5/15/30 mins. Stackable challenges. Cheap on sale. Easy achievements.
Check out my Curator page
Pixel Survivors is an okay game. This game feels like Vampire Survivors clone with a lot of functions removed, despite that it's fun. I really like the bosses and pixelated graphics. Skills and items in this game also feel unique. What I'm really missing is a system to see your unlocks, to track how much damage you did with what skill in your run and a bit better progression system, since I unlocked everything in around 10 hours of playtime. If you do late runs, you are basically immortal no matter if you are in minute 30 or 200. First 110-ish/118 achievements are fun, last ones are VERY boring (1M dmg with Thunder Dash, chest achievements...) 6/10
Filled with grammatical errors, unbalanced items and an unoriginal sprites set. It's really not worth the time even if the price is low.
Every single run is a couple minutes of dodging, then you get your Luck stat boosted up, which makes treasure chests spawn everywhere. Loot them, become insanely powerful, stand there watching everything get nuked and wonder why you bought this. It's not *bad* but it's also not *good*. Best I can say is get it on 90% of don't bother. It's not that fun as literally 3h of my displayed playtime is turning off "auto level up" in the settings menu, then leaving my controller on the table and letting the game play itself, coming back to level up every 10 minutes. Unless you have some obsession with this game, really just pass on it.
good game but please update this game cause the game is not that smooth
