Here is a little history lesson for you: the developers also created a little game called Beyond Sol. I and many others loved it. They didn't always have the fastest progess, but it was an enjoyable game. I shared a lot of good times with friends over that game. Unfortunately, our fun ended with about half the features we wanted and about 75% of the ones the devs wanted. No explanation was given for dropping it, well, no good one. History repeats itself with this game. Only the backing by the fans isn't really there. So the progress isn't there either. Buyer beware, they will probably drop this one as well.
Pirates of the Polygon Sea is a pirate action adventure game. You play as a pirate vying to take control of the Mythic Isles. In doing so you will build your very own port town, trade with neighboring islands, hunt for lost pleasure and attack merchant ships and opposing pirates. The first decision that the player makes is arguably the most important of the game. You are given the choice of four pirates to play as:

Blackwood is given the Dhow Warship to start with. He is known for his presence and tactical mastery as a former navy admiral. To select him is to play with a mindset of bringing civilization to the savage land.
Amar is also given the Dhow Warship as his beginning ship. He is a courageous leader of cutthroat mercenaries. To play with him is to take an offensive minded approach to the game.
Scarlett is ever resourceful. Her crew are adventure seekers whose primary ambition is to hunt for lost treasure and ancient artifacts. She begins with the Sloop Scout Ship.
James Corben starts with a Cog Merchant Ship. He is a former merchant captain who saw his crew murdered and now he seeks their revenge. He is stoic in his resolve to account for their deaths.
Not only are their ambitions and their starting ships at the forefront but they each belong to a different faction. The other three become your sworn enemies and who you will battle throughout the game. The game ultimately boils down to a race to see which of the four pirates can accumulate the most amount of wealth. Unlocking certain levels of wealth will increase your rank with rank twenty awarding you the governor rank and winning the game.
Presentation
The overall presentation of the game is top notch. The aesthetic that they've chosen is a match made in heaven with the game. The design decision to go with low-poly graphics was well thought out and has been implemented well. The game is artistically brilliant. For such a cartoon-y style look they have captured a relatively high level of realism that I wasn't expecting. This is in part due to the outstanding weather effects and the tides system. The musical score is loaded with songs that fit the pirate themes. The non-stop soundtrack is a great mix. The other sounds have been well chosen and are of a high quality. The game runs smooth as silk. I have not dropped under 60 FPS throughout my entire play time with the game. I have also not encountered any bugs either which is something that I have come to expect from early access titles. Praxia Entertainment should be very proud of the game that they have released thus far into early access. They're well ahead of the eight ball without anybody being able to query whether it was the right time for the public to gain access to the game. Consequently, Pirates of the Polygon Sea could easily be considered a model for what early access titles.
Naval Combat
This game does not hold your hand. There is a learning curve. Becoming accurate with your cannon shooting will undoubtedly take time and effort. There's a real sense of reward when you land successful shots. That's even before you win an engagement - a much more significant reward. I feel that at this stage the naval combat is the most influential and enjoyable component of the game. Thankfully, you have a secondary weapon aside from just shooting your rounds of cannon balls. This secondary attack sets fire to ships in an area of effect around you. The developers continue to work on additional features and refinements for the naval combat system. In many ways I can envision a combat system that is every bit as fluent and deep as the great action RPGs such as Diablo, Grim Dawn and Torchlight. The difference with this taking place on a pirate ship is somewhat inspiring and unique in comparison. While you are busy on the seas you may want to consider the other events that are available to you. Events such as rescue missions, supporting merchant vessels, the charge of strong angry pirates and of course the dreaded beasts that lurk in the depths of the ocean ready to destroy you within a moment's notice. The penalty for death can often leave you penniless and place you in grave risk of being unable to catch up to your opponents. As money is of vital importance in the game you will want to weigh up the risk-reward of any and all possible scenarios. As a result sometimes it really isn't worth taking on an enemy even if the bounty is very appealing.
City Building & Economic Components
The game also contains city building and economic elements. However, I feel that these can tend to be a little repetitious. The different building options are unlockable through the game's rank system. The bigger and badder you become the more options become accessible to you. A fair amount of strategy must be utilized in determining which buildings you will build and the order in which you build them. This is a stronger system than I originally was going to give the game credit for. These are features of the game that are going to be updated and added to over the life of the Early Access period. This is something that I am very excited to see because I feel that if executed properly could make one of the more complete action-city builder games on Steam.
Is it Steamified?
As of writing the developers are yet to add achievements or trading cards into the mix. However, the game is in early access after all and it must be noted that these are relatively minor updates. Therefore, I am not at all concerned about the current status of the game and believe that the developers will add both in future updates.
Verdict
I am thoroughly impressed with Pirates of the Polygon Sea. As a result of Praxia Entertainment's quality assurances they have released the game into early access that is ready to play. They are among the more conscientious developers on Steam and have grand ambitions for their title. Consequently, its playable state combined with a strong future I wholeheartedly endorse the game. If you're a fan of pirate related media then this is a must own game. It could ultimately become the best pirate game since Sid Meier's Pirates.
About Praxia Entertainment
Praxia Entertainment is a game development company based in Edmonton, Canada. They strive to deliver engaging, innovative, and fresh gaming experiences for players weary of the same-old. Their first game, Beyond Sol was exceptionally well received with a current metacritic score of 83 and is very much worth checking out. Therefore, they are in the process of building a very good reputation. Here's where we draw the distinction between games with points and game binging junkfood. It's functional, it's playable, it's even somewhat enjoyable- but there's no point. You sail around buying and selling goods, attacking ships, and fighting sea beasts but there's nothing you're working towards except for better ships to do more of the same and in the same way I dislike MMO's as we simply grind for the sake of more grinding, the nautical theme can't salvage that for me. I need a good story, a way to make my own story, or at least a world that reacts to me. Otherwise this is nothing more than a pretty world with some functional but uninspired mechanics, music, and gameplay.
It had potential but the scammer devs abandoned it, and only 2 hours into the game you realize you cannot buy better ships - so you are stuck with level 1 ships for the remainder of the game just because the devs have not added the new ship content. Please be careful before you buy. The scammer devs have time since 2 years to put this game on sale and rip people off, but they have no time to continue developing it. Have reported on Steam, and will follow up with more reprecussions - scammer devs will not be tolerated any longer.
A simple but still a fun game. Not as deep as similar games like Sid Meier's Pirates and it gets quite repetetive after some hours. But for 4 dollars (at the Steam Summer Sale) I had great fun playing it for a couple of hours, well worth the money.
This game. Has so much potientional, more then we realise nowadays, I recommend this game for all who had played sid meiers pirates and others who love pirate games. This game offers you to choose between "two sides" which you always can change through (pirates and "good guys?"). You start on a randon generated map which a decent medium sized island. On the island you build your own harbour OR as I would like to call it if you're a villain, a big pirate cove. You build households, taverns and resource fields so you can upgrade your port to higher level to proceed further into the game, yet you also establish defences in case pirates raid you (good to start of doing early). There are no speicific missions or campaign for you to make this game senes for you to play if thats what you want, though there are quests that allows you to gain gold. Enough with the base information, not only can you build your base, so can you with ships, there are 3 "classes" of ships with 5 different ship choices.
scouts Warhips Tradeships
They all possess 1 unique abillity that will favour you in battle. If I should dislike anything about this game, is probably that it really feels like early access (limitations) but I really hope that the devs add more features to this game as I said in the beginning, the game has a lot of potientional.
+ Looks decent + Cheap + Fun O Grindy O Multiplayer doesn't invite players to interact with each other. O Raiding is near impossible due to swarms of bounty hunters combined with respawns. O Can not steer the steering wheel - Complicated Multiplayer setup / No Master server. Requires Port-Forwarding which not everyone is able to do - Limited Multiplayer Character creation (Can only replace one of the ai players. Can't change my or my ships name, the ai will already have spent all the starting ressources) - Buggy: - Textures of buildings just disappear after a while - If you steer into a corner it's near impossible to steer out again - Escorts getting stuck everywhere (when you have two escorts they'll literally keep on sailing away from you for hours because one wants to steer left, while the one to the left wants to steer to the right) - Questionworthy game-balance - AI players are very weak and slow (I used a difficulty which would translate to something like "difficult") - The game either punishes you by random death or is no challenge at all (- my 9-star escort dies to two bounty hunters while being stuck at a reef) - Little content: Due to the grindy nature of the game you might extend a match to a couple of hours, after which you'll already have seen everything Admittedly, if the devs had fixed the bugs (to which I found entries dating back a year) and given more care into the ai I would have recommended this game.
Decent game by the kings of unfinished games.
İndirimde ~5 TL'ye alabileceğiniz, eğlenceli birkaç saat sunan güzel bir oyun.
Lacks any sort of uniqueness or depth to be enjoyable. There is only few building options for your colony, no leveling of character, no upgrades for your ship other than buying higher tier ship or ship of different class (3 ship classes, 5 ships each, none really unique), combat is simple as you only have one cannon ball type to shoot with in addition to 1 special weapon for each ship class. Only 1 winning condition (get enough prestige and money to buy max title for yourself) and, as far as I can tell, you can't destroy your enemies completely (each of my opponents had buildings I could not shoot. I reduced each to like 1 building and they were able to rebuild). There are also multiple annoying bugs like being able to place buildings on top of each other; after playing awhile opening tavern menu causes FPS to drop to 1 rendering the menu useless until you exit and restart the game and after you destroy AI fort they build it deeper and deeper inland. Also as far as I could tell, the cannon towers never shot at anyone so what's their point? I sat next to them multiple times shooting at them without being shot back and my own never defended my colony from pirates no matter how many I build. Considering many better pirate themed sailing and sea trading games out there, I don't see any reason to pick this one over them.
