Better than Pillars 1, way more polished and more fun class and combat system. Even if the story is a bit weaker.
Me saquearon los "dioses" por las decisiones de la primera entrega... no me gusta el sistema del barco.
What a masterpiece that Pillars of Eternity II is! From the world building, art, and even amazing voice acting - I find myself immersed and caring so much for each individual NPC in this game. I often find myself swapping out NPCs to hear their backstory and the game even recommends certain party members during quests. It's just great overall and makes you CARE. Just like the first, the combat system is simply amazing. Adding turn-based made the game feel very much like other RPGs (Divinity OS II) but even without it, the pause/play party fighting is great! Leveling and grinding is fine, as there is so much to do everywhere! No PoI feels the same, nor does any quest feel boring/intrusive. I loved the first Pillars game, but this one is a great followup. Maybe one day we'll get a third! Those of you that enjoy great roleplaying without over-saturated mechanics, try this one out. It has its own system and doesn't use "5e" or anything but it's fantastic overall. The game is very well worth the full price tag, but sometimes you can get the full edition for 25 USD. The Beast of Winter was AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE as well. LOVED IT!!!! Also reviewing at 66.6 hours LOL
Obsidian's magnum opus.
Gameplay has been improved tremendously compared to PIllars of Eternity 1, but for the story it leaves a lot to be desired. The ending is leaves a bitter taste and I think maybe it was made like that in order for people to be more interested in a potential sequel (which, unfortunately, turned into Avowed. Obsidian please, make Pillars 3) The gameplay is great and Obisidian has made a great Real time with Pause system that works well, making it stand out a lot compared to other CRPGs in the market (Baldurs Gate, Divinity, Pathfinder, etc.) Higher tier combat has you scrambling to manage each character and check each enemy, making it quite adrenaline-pumping when you consider it. Still a must play if you like CRPGs. Highly recommend.
Amazing game from top to bottom. So much to do, even compared to the first game. I was told the story in the first game was better, but I enjoyed this one on par or even more so. And you SHOULD play the first game. You can carry over your decisions and there is much about the world and characters the game would you like to know in advance. Play this if you've played the first game. The experience is much more polished.
Another gem by obsidian.
The game mechanics are wonky and out of balance. Level 1 group of three facing Level 5 quests at the beginning doesn't work very well. Too annoyed to continue playing.
The game is stuttering all over the place and can't hold a stable framerate, and jpegs have memory leaks. The UI is utter useless garbage.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a great CRPG if you like deep lore, tactical combat, morally messy choices, and piratesque lore and styling. The world is rich, the companions are strong. The ship stuff is fine. Not amazing, not terrible. Mostly there so you can feel like a reasonable pirate with administrative duties. Although I really like that part of it all; and it can make money too in game But it's not strong on things like ship-2-ship combat Also, the Critical Role cast being all over this game is extremely cool. Hearing those voices in a D&D-style fantasy RPG just feels correct and if you like them it's cool to hear them "at work". It can be dense, slow, and occasionally too in love with its own lore, but overall it’s a fantastic RPG for people who like their adventures with gods, politics, boats, and some emotional baggage. Worth it. Replayable as well. 10/10 buy and play!
