funny, weird, chilling, unique puzzle action ... addictive!
Cute little strategy game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXJc85AAJrg&t=1s
https://youtu.be/Bkf1kcpPRYc They've made one of the most unique games I've ever seen! The puking is disgusting and perfect. I love how the bugs can get covered and they have to wipe it away. Also the whole premise behind the game, trying to suck up tennis balls is weird and interesting. Some of the levels feel a bit repetitive and I can't believe they stretched it so far (with so many levels). The overworld is a bit boring to navigate getting to all the different clams to find the levels. The bosses though, really fun and one of a kind. Accordion that plays music as you battle it! If you like seeing inventive new and weird gameplay then you should check this out. Light recommendation from me. I found the small levels to be repetitive and not as inventive as the theme.
The story centers on a princess from the Cake Kingdom. Despite her royal upbringing, the princess feels confined by her gilded life. She longs to see the world beyond the sugary walls of her kingdom, to discover what lies past the borders of confectionary perfection. Unfortunately for her, her father, the King, believes it’s time for her to settle down and marry. To ensure her future security, he organizes a grand competition across the kingdom, inviting brave suitors from all realms to participate in a series of games. The winner will earn the princess’s hand in marriage. However, the princess has no intention of being treated like a prize to be won. Furious but determined, she decides to disguises herself and secretly enters the very games her father has organized. true goal is freedom. The competition unfolds across five distinct worlds, each serving as a hub with secrets, challenges, and characters to meet. Though the hubs give the illusion of free exploration, progress is largely linear, as certain areas are blocked by barriers or gatekeepers. These obstacles only disappear when specific objectives are met, primarily by winning the “clam” challenges scattered throughout each world. A “clam” acts as a mini-collection of stages. Each clam contains between one and five levels that must be completed consecutively. Beating an entire clam rewards the player with a pearl, a vital item used to appease the world’s gatekeepers. Each gatekeeper demands a certain number of pearls before allowing passage to the next section. Once all clams in a world are cleared and the required pearls collected, the way to the world’s boss opens. Boss battles are not overly complex: they involve dodging incoming attacks and dashing into weak spots at the right moments. Once beaten, you unlock a passage to the next world that introduces new mechanics, hazards, and enemies. Beating all five worlds is no small feat, as each one grows increasingly challenging and time-consuming. The core gameplay is simple. You control the princess, who can move around each stage and “eat” all the bouncing balls scattered about. The mechanic resembles a cross between a vacuum cleaner and a hungry monster; she constantly sucks in balls unless you press the right mouse button to stop the suction. The princess automatically follows your mouse cursor, making the mouse the most intuitive control method, although gamepads are also supported. Besides suction control, the only other move is a dash, activated by the left mouse button. This move is not gamer-friendly because it puts a lot of strain on your fingers. If you dash into an object and destroy it, you can instantly dash again. The problem is that it turns the experience into a button mashing that gets more annoying in later stages. Although the gameplay sound easy, the challenge quickly becomes apparent. Each ball you consume causes the princess to grow larger, which creates a physical obstacle. Some areas and passageways in the stage are narrow, and being too big means you won’t fit through. When that happens, the only solution is to “barf”, to spit out some of the collected balls. But once you vomit them out, they become covered in barf, temporarily “dirty.” You can eat them again once they’re clean, but if you consume too many dirty balls too soon, the princess becomes sick and will start to barf uncontrollably. Managing this sickness is key to success. A barf timer appears above the princess when she’s close to throwing up. The timer runs for a few seconds, and if it expires, she loses control and vomits all over the place, scattering balls in unpredictable directions. To suppress the sickness, you need to keep eating clean balls before the timer runs out. However, barfing can also be triggered by hazards such as spikes, spike balls, or ghost-like enemies that chase you around the stage. Interestingly, when you’re in a barf state, you can temporarily “repress” it by eating threats, which turns an otherwise dangerous situation into a strategic opportunity. The downside is that while sick, you lose the ability to dash, which can be critical during timed or obstacle-heavy sections. Stages generally revolve around consuming every ball, but there are often extra conditions, like finishing before a countdown timer ends, avoiding damage beyond a set limit, or tackling maze-like challenges. Each stage awards up to three medals depending on performance, though earning a gold medal is particularly tough. While you don’t need gold to advance, achieving it unlocks additional content and contributes toward full completion and achievements. After finishing all stages within a clam, you can replay them individually. This feature is especially useful for medal hunters who want to perfect their runs without repeating earlier levels. The game also introduces disguises, collectible outfits hidden across stages and hubs. Each disguise modifies gameplay with both positive and negative effects. For example, a pair of magical lips might grant stronger suction power but also make you get sick faster, while a belt could let you eat more balls before growing, but cause you to barf out more at once. Finding and experimenting with disguises can make certain stages significantly easier, or much harder. Each hub world has a central area connected to three smaller sub-hubs, and within these spaces lie secrets such as disguises, power-ups, and optional fetch quests. The game conveniently displays how many disguises are hidden in each hub, ensuring you don’t waste time searching endlessly. Power-ups found within stages or hubs provide temporary advantages. For instance, a magnet increases suction range, while a shield protects against hazards. However, power-ups obtained in hub areas can only be used once; after they’re consumed, they disappear permanently. While the game’s mechanics are clever and rewarding, earning gold medals remains its greatest challenge. Often, success depends on finding the perfect disguise for each stage, and even then, one small mistake can cost precious seconds or lead to accidental barfing. The game does offer an easy mode after repeated failures, but activating it disqualifies you from earning gold medals. This forces you to come back to a world later, when you find a helpful disguise. Unfortunately, the game isn’t without technical issues. A major bug causes the game to become unplayable and stuck indefinitely on a loading screen. Switching to a beta “test” build fixes the issue, but this comes at a steep cost: the beta version lacks many updates, features, and fixes present in the normal build. Even worse, reverting to the regular version after using the beta completely erases all saved progress.
so i got this for 8.99 and at first i didnt really like it too much, felt like somthing i would have paid $2 for. i got it because it looked like somthing i would like and the reviews seemed great. after a little bit of time i started to figure out the game and i think im going to end up liking it quite a bit. the music is really nice and i love the art style. some times games will just hook me and i wont see it coming, i think that could happen here. tbh at this moment i dont think its worth the full $15 price. i think 10$ is fair enough for this game. if this is your kind of thing pick it up on sale.
