Pierre's Adventures in French [Learn French]

The guide book is a pointless buy, it does not offer anything useful, just a bunch of worthless flavor text. The game is pretty straightforward up until the end. You get locked into an encounter with "Evil Pierre" that appears broken and there isn't any resource available to explain the next steps, nor did they make an effort to leave a clue to be used. The game itself had potential and for learning French it seems like a fun tool, but the bugs, broken click on object find, very low quality graphics, among other issues make this a no for me.

I’m like B1 in French and I haven’t learned that many new words yet but it’s still a good refresher and more fun than stupid Duolingo lol

Great and fun ways to learn, As i walked through the château i learned so much and the thing's that u can interact with is many!, Had an amazing experience solving puzzles and walking also repeating the talk with the NPCS, Really fun.

I liked the playful, yet instructive methods the game uses to allow me to try and understand the language. It is very entertaining.

I think more than anything this recommendation goes for those who are just starting to learn the language and need a simple game to practice, as I find the potential audience to this game to be extremely niche. The tone and story is more oriented towards to a younger demographic, who isn't exactly fond of adventure games. Regardless, I enjoyed it. The storyline has some surprisingly funny little moments and while the character art leaves a lot to be desired, the music is nice and the environments look genuinely pretty good. My only grievance is the food and drinking mechanic, where actions cannot be executed when thirsty or hungry. While it's basically an excuse to teach you names of food items, it stops being fun to keep an eye on it by the first hour and can be quite tedious. I guess more than anything, if you already learned languages playing games as a kid without subtitles, this game might just appeal to you a lot more as a fun trip down memory lane. As a regular adventure game, it's nothing amazing, but it's well made and has a noble intent behind it.

This is a great game for learning French which I'd thoroughly recommend to anyone keen on using the language more. You learn through immersion and the game is a standalone point-and-click adventure, which would be fun even in my native language. It's playable even if you don't know a few words, and the voice acting is fantastic for hearing the language spoken. The clear and simple French used still teaches new words even for more advanced B2 speakers (I didn't know what screwdriver, cemetery or spanner were before playing!), and the repetition of words or phrases really help cement the French into my vocabulary. It's a shame I've finished it, although I did miss an achievement so I'll be replaying to try and get them all!

Cependant, j'ai pu jouer à ce jeu avec peu de problèmes. J'ai été aidé par le fait d'avoir une deuxième fenêtre ouverte avec la traduction Google du français vers l'anglais. Cependant, vous pouvez essayer de jouer au jeu en devinant simplement ce qui est dit. Mais je ne le recommande pas. Bref, c'est essentiellement un petit gars joyeux appelé Pierre qui apprend qu'une princesse a été enlevée et qu'il doit partir en quête pour la retrouver. Il découvre qu'il doit trouver trois gemmes cachées à différents endroits et vaincre un puissant sorcier pour la sauver.Pour accomplir la quête, vous parlez aux gens en commençant par le village, puis en voyageant vers d'autres villes. La plupart de votre expérience de jeu consiste à chercher certains objets ou certaines personnes. Les combats ou les tâches incluent généralement de déterminer quels objets utiliser, où les obtenir, comment les utiliser contre les ennemis ou pour obtenir davantage d'informations dans le jeu. (exemple : Vous pourriez réellement avoir besoin de donner du brandy à un ivrogne ou de la soupe à un vagabond) J'ai trouvé ce jeu très agréable. Un joueur expérimenté pourrait terminer ce jeu en quelques heures, probablement. Pour les autres, cela prendra plus de temps. Soyez juste attentif au liste de tâches donnée. Vous devez accomplir certaines tâches pour progresser dans le jeu, mais pas toutes. Mais c'est amusant. Et même dans les parties difficiles du jeu, vous êtes heureux et pas stressé. It serves the purpose and it's engaging enough, so if you know of anything similar, please let me know.

I wish there were more language learning games like this. It has lots of useful words that come up in multiple situations (eg. climb, fill, cut) as well as words that will expand your vocab and allow you to enjoy more french language media. (Eg. rope, chest, sword) One of the best things about how this game is designed for learners is that every line of dialogue will hold until you're ready to click to advance the game. So if you didn't understand what they said, you've got time to read the subtitles or look up words that you don't understand. If this game were to add some features though, I would love if you could replay lines of dialogue and let you click on key words to see their definition. (Lots of language learning books do a similiar thing where they have key words in between chapters.) Another great thing is it doesn't assume you know how to play point n click adventure games and it has a nice lil tutorial. The eating/drinking mechanic is interesting - though it does become a bit of a pain due to the slow walk speed. Unlike most point n click games you can't double click the edge of an area to skip ahead. I think the slow walk speed is my only real complaint. Otherwise this is a really excellent example of how games can be an engaging tool to help with learning a language.

It's a very fun way to learn. Not too easy as one might assume. I'm thoroughly enjoying a break from the monotony of youtube videos and books to learn French.
