https://youtu.be/jo9deyG9ikk Most systems appear to be far from complete, what is present has major pacing issues. Far too much time spent waiting for resources with little player interactions.

PeriAreion is a free 3D rendered hybrid of an RTS and a city builder/survival/crafting game. You're in charge of a bunch of Mars colonists and you must guide them to build a thriving Mars colony by clicking on them then clicking on various jobs for them... yeah, it looks and feels almost like a mobile app, and the low poly graphics aren't helping. The concept shows a great deal of promise, but the implementation here is really lacklustre, convoluted and unengaging. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the game resolution caps out at 1080p, a very low resolution that became mainstream back in 2006 and became obsolete when 4K entered the mainstream in 2014. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. The game is completely free. This is noble a gesture that shows dedication to both gamers, and the gaming industry. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. The quality here is simply too low for me to recommend, even for free.
Oh, how I really wanted this game to be good. I love space, exploration, Mars... anything 4X, really. Given that this was an indie project, I really wanted to enjoy this, and assumed it'd be a little more offbeat than the usual "colonise a planet" simulators. Sadly, I found numerous issues with the game. Considering it's very low-poly, it fair kills a mobile GPU. In sandstorms, the game becomes a slideshow on my laptop. The game has a number of pacing issues. You just seem to spend a lot of time waiting for things to happen. The tech tree seems moderately well thought out... A nice nod to the way that money reaches these projects. There are some interesting things to do and see, some interesting ideas here, but after the umpteenth crash, the umpteenth failed mission because of some oversight, or someone ran out of something... I just gave up. I really really wanted this game to succeed, but it needs some serious pacing changes and a good solid look at the way money and resources amass to bring the fun back in, and decrease the slog and repeated deaths. I don't want to do this, because it's an indie game, and it's clearly a labour of love, 80% of it is really well designed and put together, but it just isn't fun (yet) :(
I know I've only played this game for an hour and a half, but I can't recommend it. It's not terrible. It's actually a pretty good idea for a game. Unfortunately, the execution is not good enough for me to want to continue. You spend too much time repairing and healing your crew and so expansion and improvement of your base is a hard slog that doesn't feel very rewarding. That may just be my personal preference and so this will probably hold some appeal to some people. However, when you combine the gameplay with the bugs, it just becomes too much trouble. One of the most annoying bugs I encountered was that from time to time, you couldn't interact with a module in the base. My colonists almost starved because I couldn't interact with the agriculture module for a while and when I finally could again, I found I didn't have enough resources and no longer had enough time to collect them. Given that it has been a long time since there was un update (more than a year from the time I'm writing it seems), I think it's probably safe to assume that this is as far as it will go. I recommend that you do not waste your time with this one.
Not a finished game. Many better options available today.
Pretty solid space survival game. The graphics are pretty good as well for being such a small company.
Straight up nintendo hard... like 80s style yo!
