This is one of my favorite games, criminally under-rated. It clicks with my brain in such a way, beyond clicking with it, it almost melds with my mind, I can almost feel the resonance within me. An amazing game, please play it.
Came here from the commentary track on the iOS version of "A Dark Room." The concept and story are cool, but I didn't really understand what was going on. I mean I understood moment to moment character interactions but I never understood what "the machine" was or what it did by the end. I came away generally positive, but there's some QoL gripes I have. Some things that immediately took me out in the first (third?) chapter: - I'd question the use of the word "dully". This might be personal preference but it just sounds...basic to me, especially for a first sentence. - "but then an alarm loudly over the old PA system" the alarm loudly what? Chapter 2 also: - "Marie's briefcase sitting indictingly in the center of the - table" shouldn't it be sits or is sitting to complete the sentence? I agree with the other review that the cycled music gets annoying. I mean, I understand how much work and personal passion went into it after looking through the concept art, but I can't help the way that I feel. I think a volume slider and smoother transitions might help. I don't mean to be a pedantic nitpicker but these were the problems I had with the game (Is it even a game? It's more literal novel than your average VN seeing as...well no visuals. Experience?) and there's so few reviews that this will probably reach the devs if they're still active.
I loved this game. The story, though it takes a little work to unpack, is fascinating and the format is so unique!
A game best described as "twisty." It does, perhaps, get a bit esoteric and incomprehensible the further down you go, but I think it fits the general story quite well.
i totally loved the mobile version of penrose and i will totally play through this one again. the writing is absolutely beautifull and really catches the atmosphere and feelings. i dont wanna go to deep into the story, but penrose is deffinitely something different! go grab it now and give it a shot! and after you played penrose you should go and play all the other doublespeak games, cause they are all masterpieces in their own way
Amazing, in-depth story that you never want to put down
Truly unforgivable for a game like this not to have any sort of autosave feature. All progress from my first session lost, because I didn't exit the game exactly the correct way.
