About
One fine day, in a remote island community off the coast of Maine, nine cats wake up to discover that their humans have disappeared. To survive, they must band together to uncover the mysteries of their storied island home - and ultimately, it is up to them to decide:
Are the humans worth bringing back?

- Explore a truly open world - The entirety of the island will be accessible, with each building containing a hand-crafted interior. No "Invisible Walls," or buildings with no purpose.
- A realistic weather & tidal system - From foggy nights, to morning downpours, to clear, blue skies - you never know what those southeast winds might bring in - and you'll never want to miss a beautiful sunset!
- Nine Playable Cats - Each with their own stories, preferences, skills, & weaknesses - as you get to know them, you'll know which one might be the best for a certain job!
- A commitment to using only HUMAN-MADE content - We want to provide our players with a human-made experience, from beginning to end!

- Delve into a rich, 200-year alternate history - Learn family lineages, study old maps, and read books & letters better left hidden.
- Your decisions matter! - How you approach life after humanity will decide how the game plays out in the end.
- Replayability - Three different possible endings (and perhaps more!)

- Experience a hand-crafted world - From the very beginning, we strove to create a world that isn't just "that place between mission points." The island might be small, but there is a LOT to discover and re-discover!
- Original, adaptive soundtrack - From the mood of the cats, to the time of day, to the weather, the soundtrack changes. Each player's musical experience will be different!
- An expanded emotional palette - Games are a wonderful storytelling - and all stories are not happy ones.

- Relax! - Sometimes, you just want to hang out with the cats and watch the sun set. A mix of casual/slow gaming.
- Meet new friends - and new enemies! - The humans might be gone, but old power structures remain. Currying favor with the deer might make the Seagulls less willing to talk!

Peace Island began in November of 2017, when a Eric (a line cook) and Laura (a care worker) noticed a severe lack of rich, single-player, story-driven experiences in a game world where the major publishers were intent on developing the next open-world shooter.
They knew it wasn't going to be easy - developing a video game of this size typically requires dozens of people and significant funding. They just had themselves, and whatever pocket change they could set aside after bills and rent. They worked on the project in whatever few hours they could set aside outside of their sleep and regular jobs.

The world took shape, slowly but steadily. Occasionally, they could convince a friend to donate a piece of artwork, or save enough to hire a coder for an hour or two to help build the first, simple systems.
From the very start, emphasis was put on crafting a beautiful world- one that would not simply serve as "that space between one destination and another," but as a place the player wants to linger in for just perhaps one more sunset.

After two years of slow but steady progress, Peace Island "went viral" in the fall of 2019, finally allowing the project to expand beyond a single bedroom, an outdated computer, and a few notebooks.

Since then, the Peace Island project has expanded to include a a core team of 7, and an expanded talent pool of over 40 creatives from around the world.
As we enter the fist days of our fifth year of development, we are more excited than ever to share the world & story of Peace Island.
OUR COMMITMENT, REGARDING GENERATIVE AI CONTENT:
Simply put: We don't like it. As of now, there are 3 or fewer possible artifact textures/bitmaps within Peace Island that are of AI origin, out of the approximately 3,500 currently used within the game - these are methodically being removed, and replaced with 100% verified human content.
We apologize for this oversight, and sincerely regret any confusion this might have caused, as most of this remaining questionable content was procured from third-party sources, and not properly reviewed before use.

Working my way around the island. Has an earie vibe - especially with the trippy soundtrack. I'm enjoying the visuals, the Island is lush with much to explore, Many paths, buildings, greenery. There is a mystery to unlock, and I'm sure it's tied to those "UFO"s hanging about. The initial house lays the groundwork for the cat's sleuthing. There is food to eat, litter boxes to use (LOL), and places to snooze. I've encountered a goose and a few chickens, even a small chicken quest! Oh, and there is a yard filled with toilets - Wicked funny. I look forward to updates to this game.
Very chill game getting to wander around and explore the island as a cat. Sure it has it's issues, but what new indie game doesn't? This game clearly has a lot of love behind it and the dev is very open to feedback and tries to fix any bugs as soon as they can. It's already a completely different experience from launch and I encourage you to give it a try, especially if you love cats.
I know it's still in production so I'm giving this an OMG this is gonna be sooooo good!!!! Just runs a bit rough right now but I know it will get better.
Game has a lot of lore and story depth. There are some bugs but the devs are working constantly to improve the game. I thought it was fun when I figured out I can drive a golf cart with a cat! I'm looking forward to updates! :D
You need to keep in mind this is an indie game - and a beta. In my opinion it's a beautiful idea, a longterm project with a lot of passion, trial and error, ups and downs - now it's time for the community to give their valuable feedback to further improve! After 4 hours of playing this is my feeddback: ++ I liked the introduction. I am fine with the movement of the cat, the control is kind of intuitive if you have prior gaming experience; the tutorial-like start in the beginning to follow our new cat friend worked fine and was fun. I liked climbing, balancing on the rope, collecting things; I got how to enter the upper floor & how to use the entrance card to enter the town hall. Story-wise I am not sure how to move on now; but I had much fun to further explore the island. The music is nice and athmospheric, maybe some more nature sounds could be included. -- I have minor struggles in the fluency of my cat walking, but it's okay. But my biggest issue at the moment is the light; we can't adjust the settings in detail and general addjustments didn't change my issue: I have a severe overexposure in my game (only outside, whenever sunlight is involved, so this is mainly about the sky & light effects); I also had a problem with floating shaddows, that disappeared after re-loading the game; but I had the issue again when I restarted several times for a try. The lighting of the sky feels quite psychedelic at the moment, I will send some graphics directly to the developer. I hope this problem can be solved, that would make discovering much better. This all been said: I would recommend this game if you are okay with WORK IN PROGRESS. If you like to explore and if you like cats - in my opinion, this indie game is quite entertaining!
Peace Island is not a game for people looking for constant explosions, combat, flashing quest markers, and dopamine every 12 seconds. If that’s what you want, you’re probably going to bounce off this pretty hard. What it is is a weird, slow, atmospheric mystery game where you play as cats exploring a huge island after all the humans have vanished. Think less “open world action game” and more “I found a strange note in an abandoned building and now I’m wondering if the USSR still exists and whether someone tried to encrypt a soul.” Yes, really. After the intro, the game mostly just lets you loose. No enemies rushing you, no timer yelling at you, no big glowing arrow telling you exactly where to go. You follow clues because you’re curious, not because the game is dragging you by the collar. And honestly? That’s the best part. I spent a lot of time just wandering around, reading letters, poking through buildings, listening to answering machines, finding tunnels, meeting other animals, and slowly piecing together whatever the hell was going on before the humans disappeared. There are snails who want music, deer looking for artifacts, other cats to recruit, and apparently if you have three cats you can drive a golf cart. 10/10 feature, no notes. The island is also much bigger than I expected. I tried doing one loop around it and kept stopping because I’d see a sign, monument, weird building, or random detail I wanted to investigate. It has that “I’ll come back here later” feeling constantly. There is a ton to read. Books, magazines, letters, fliers, calendars, notebooks, all kinds of stuff. I stopped counting after a while. I actually sat in the library and read several in-game books until one of my cats needed the sandbox, which is probably the most accurate cat game mechanic ever made. It’s not perfect. Performance can be rough, some of the dialogue is a bit thin, and the whole thing still has visible Early Access edges. Also, this is basically just a preview of Act 1, so don’t go in expecting the full mystery to be solved yet. That said, the devs seem to be updating it constantly, and considering this is apparently being made by a very small team, there’s a lot here already. Biggest feature request: please let us add custom notes to the evidence/memory map. Also radios in golf carts. I need island mystery NPR while cruising with the squad. Overall: rough, strange, slow, and extremely interesting. If you like atmospheric exploration, environmental storytelling, readable lore, and games that trust you to be curious, this is absolutely worth keeping an eye on. 7.8/10. I have no idea where this is going, but I very much want to find out.
I love it but i love cats so
Give this game a hand! People are giving negative reviews for no reason! The developers are on Discord, responding to all reports of bugs and glitches, common errors in a game under development, and are fixing these problems that we forward to them. There is no reason to give negative reviews the way they are doing. I bought this game because I love cats and I was moved by the story of their kitten that was immortalized as a "playable cat". In addition to a desire of the developers, Eric Blumrich and Laura Mackey, to create a "cozy game" experience focused on exploration and story, instead of combat.
i love this game its so wonderful fantastic and absolutely amazing game but theres 2 things its glitching and it doesn't run smoothly on my mac
beta-not finished - keep going
