About
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Roman Empire and build your own ancient metropolis! Pax Augusta is probably the most authentic city-building simulation set in the ancient world and puts you in the role of an ambitious governor who builds new cities along the Roman borders.
While Emperor Augustus expands the borders of the empire, capable governors are sought to found new cities in order to consolidate the Roman claim to the newly conquered land. You build a small settlement along a newly constructed imperial road. You attract new inhabitants to the city by building a harbor and a forum.
As your tax revenue increases, you start to mine raw materials and construct new buildings to meet the needs of the population. Baths, theaters, gladiator schools, slave markets, and more serve not only to keep your inhabitants entertained, but also to provide them with work.
Build impressive city districts, ensure the well-being of your citizens, engage in flourishing trade and erect magnificent monuments that will last for centuries. But the road to the top is full of challenges - fire, corruption, unrest and the whims of the emperor will put your leadership skills to the test time and again.
As a skillful governor, you will quickly attract the attention of the senate or the emperor. Increase your reputation enough and you can found new settlements. As you increase your private fortune, you will eventually be able to afford to apply for new offices. This gives you the opportunity to build monuments and unlock new building sites.
Will you become a skillful administrator and make your city flourish? Or will you fail and be deposed by the Senate?
Your skill will decide your fate in the most powerful empire of the ancient world!

Very buggy and lags a lot, unplayable
Another nice city builder Roman style. Combination of managing coin, forum administration points, other resources and reputation while dealing with some very constrained city maps made it a challenge getting started. Instead of a technology tree, technology advancements are driven by having enough people of each population class to meet the prerequisite for each advanced building type. Once you get the hang of how to build a city without running out of money, it gets a bit repetitive and it is a grind to build up your population to unlock even basic buildings like fishermen and farms. Once I understood that abandoning one city to found another was the key to continuing to add to reputation, I was able to get promotions to the highest level (Consul). Though it gets easier once you get a city organized and making adequate income, you can still get distracted building that new, expensive to maintain temple and suddenly run into financial problems just when you started to relax. So far I don't see any military aspect, but that doesn't bother me. Why I like this game? Has several unique features like having to go recruit gladiators and actors for your city from other locations, reasonably complex but understandable economics, and the combination of city, local region, and empire level interactions. What I didn't like? No warning that you are getting into trouble on several resource limits until "pow" your people's satisfaction goes from 100% to zero. You either have to monitor everything constantly or just accept the hit to satisfaction and react. Also some of the production buildings are finicky to set up right. Several times I had to delete and rebuild a set of brickwork buildings to get them to operate properly and I was never sure what the problem was. Finally, the city map areas are so small that building large entertainment venues like a medium arena are pretty difficult. This last element may be "the challenge" from the designer's viewpoint, but making physical land space the major constraint regardless of resources and money ... meh. Also I'm still not sure about some features of the game, such as what corruption level does, despite completing the tutorial. Overall, I'll give it an 8 out of 10 as a relaxing Roman city builder. I'm just starting to explore the story mode version, which might change my rating upward.
Urbs Aeterna
A lovingly crafted city-building simulator about Rome. The attention to detail is exceptional, and the buildings under construction are fascinating to observe up close. The hypocaust in the bathhouse is simply magnificent! While it is currently in beta, the project has promising potential. I would like to see more translations into various languages and further improvements.
I am really enjoying the game. Small bugs here and there but nothing serious from what I have run into. Also a nice little active discord community for any questions, suggestions or chats. Glad I picked it up.
A very enjoyable game! I had to uninstall a few games to get this one installed at 25GB, but it was worth it. Especially since I only paid $6.50CAD for it... :) (Apparently, the tutorial was crashing for some users, so I avoided it.) Edit: I successfully completed the tutorial with no issues! Once I left Sandbox mode and tried Career mode, there was also a lot of help. Plus the videos done by the Developer (yes, singular) were very helpful.
