About
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Roman Empire and build your own ancient metropolis! Pax Augusta is probably the most authentic city-building simulation set in the ancient world and puts you in the role of an ambitious governor who builds new cities along the Roman borders.
While Emperor Augustus expands the borders of the empire, capable governors are sought to found new cities in order to consolidate the Roman claim to the newly conquered land. You build a small settlement along a newly constructed imperial road. You attract new inhabitants to the city by building a harbor and a forum.
As your tax revenue increases, you start to mine raw materials and construct new buildings to meet the needs of the population. Baths, theaters, gladiator schools, slave markets, and more serve not only to keep your inhabitants entertained, but also to provide them with work.
Build impressive city districts, ensure the well-being of your citizens, engage in flourishing trade and erect magnificent monuments that will last for centuries. But the road to the top is full of challenges - fire, corruption, unrest and the whims of the emperor will put your leadership skills to the test time and again.
As a skillful governor, you will quickly attract the attention of the senate or the emperor. Increase your reputation enough and you can found new settlements. As you increase your private fortune, you will eventually be able to afford to apply for new offices. This gives you the opportunity to build monuments and unlock new building sites.
Will you become a skillful administrator and make your city flourish? Or will you fail and be deposed by the Senate?
Your skill will decide your fate in the most powerful empire of the ancient world!

DON'T BUY The game is too overwhelming for me without a proper tutorial. It is very unlikely that a tutorial will be made. The last and only update after launch was october 2025. There is not even communication anymore. I want my money back. DON'T BUY
I cannot possibly recommend the game in the current state. It's just too rough and unpleasant to play - really it should still be in early access. I played the demo back in the days and somehow the final product seems less polished than the demo. Just to mention one: you can't even remap the camera rotation keys are and are forced to choose from fixed pairs of keys (really?). That said, it has potential. It's the closest thing we have to a modern-day Caesar, but it's far from being a complete, accessible game. If you want a pleasant city builder, this one is not for you. If you want a tough experience, are a veteran of the genre and a huge fan of the Roman empire, then maybe you can gloss over the several imperfections and the harsh learning curve and buy it as it is - not last to support the (solo) developer. Otherwise, just wait and hope it'll become a better game later on.

An otherwise great city builder except YOU CANNOT REBIND KEYS. Instead, it gives you a handful of preset options, such as using WASD, arrow keys, or numpad for camera movement, but will not let you simply manually rebind keys to, for example, ESDF. Absolutely ridiculous design choice that hugely negatively impacts me as a disabled player.
Game is completely broken and won't work. Valve has refused to issue a refund.
Amazing butttttt canyou give us bigger map pleaseee, i love it but the space is limiteddd :(
Good city builder with interesting design, is most def still a WIP but has massive potential and very much worth giving a try. would recommend, i look forward to seeing how good this game will become
While Anno has Poor Reviews, and Nova Roma isn't even out Yet, this Game Shines above all other Classical Age/Antiquity City Builders, in Terms of it's Historical Accuracy, Based upon the Finding of Cities Like Herculanium, Pompeii, and Ostia Antica. While this Game does Cut Corners in terms of Animations and Routines, as an Example when You Place a Tabularum (Practically a Public Stage in the Forum for -News) People just Stand in front of it Forever, same with the Man Speaking. This Could be Me Simply being Picky, as I came from Cities Skylines 2, Manor Lords and Such. But this Game is Genuinely Amazing. It is Worth the $25 Dollar Price.
I didn't understand how to play this game and the dev just went absent.
A very enjoyable game! I had to uninstall a few games to get this one installed at 25GB, but it was worth it. Especially since I only paid $6.50CAD for it... :) (Apparently, the tutorial was crashing for some users, so I avoided it.) Edit: I successfully completed the tutorial with no issues! Once I left Sandbox mode and tried Career mode, there was also a lot of help. Plus the videos done by the Developer (yes, singular) were very helpful.
