YOU CAN GET A CAT (also painting now a lot easier than the first) BUT KITTY
I was beginning to wonder where all my sold paintings went, so finding the art book inside the studio was a relief. I bought this game a long time ago and hadn't continued playing it 'til now, so this feature may have been mentioned in the first game or the tutorial (if there even was one.) The storyline is pretty chill. I did not feel rushed to complete it, so I spent most of my time spamming paintings for money. (That's exaggerated. If you don't try, they won't sell :p) A nice feature of this game is that it reminds you that the value of art depends on the viewer. It seems like a no-brainer, but the NPCs' reactions help isolate your artwork from yourself. One character will tut at your work, and the next one will adore it. I took a break from making oil paintings in real life to play this game. Surely that means something, like this game being spectacular, rather than a crude way of saying I have a crippling gaming addiction. This game is for people of all ages, artists or no.
(AWESOME ON STEAM DECK, YOU CAN DRAW USING THE TOUCH SCREEN!) Just the PERFECT continuation of the first game. It keeps the heart of the original, but expands on the world and the feeling of being a starving artist in the world of Passpartout. If you enjoyed the first, this experience is totally worth it. If you haven’t played the first, you really don’t need to, like I said, this captures the same core feeling but expends on it in multiple ways. In conclusion, it’s everything I’ve been dreaming of since the first game came out, It's so much fun. If you like the concept: a 10/10 buy it now.
I've played Passpartout since the original protoype version on itchio. This game has come so far, and pretty much all of my complaints of the first official game have been cleared up here. This verison has so much more creative freedom, tools, and more. The ability to walk around to different people and sell your art where it'd be a bigger hit or miss is wonderful, though I am heavily missing the ability to just save my art piece with the click of a button to my steam library (There may be an option I just haven't unlocked yet, but it really should be a from the get-go option). Finding art supplies in the trash, and drawing over other characters pieces is so much fun, and really allows a lot of creative exploration. I love using Passpartout 1 to help put me in a box to break out of art block, but this second one has already replaced it for just how much more versatile the actual gameplay of it is. As an art tool, there's no layers. No undo button. Limited tools, canvases, and colors. And yet, because of that, it helps you play with what you have and what they can do. As a digital artist I tend to heavily rely on copy, paste, rotate, and undo buttons. This makes me have to accept my mistakes and work with them in ways that really helps me grow. I see a completely different art style between my actual work, and my work in Passpartout 2, which helps me be a lot less precious with what I'm doing and just have fun. If you're looking for an art program with a game attached, this is wonderful. You don't need to be a talented artist to have fun, but if you are an artist it's a great exercise program. If you just want an art program though, out of free ones there's Krita, Fire Alpaca, Ibis Paint, Gimp, regular MS Paint now has layering tools even, and plenty more I don't even know of.
A little cozy game, is nothing special, atleast you are into drawing of course, to me served as a nice practice to get out of my confort zone, if you are looking for a little space to practice your skills drawing this is your game, no ctrl+z so mistakes count, but they can be good to, that's what makes handdrawn art authentic.
If you like drawing, gaming and open-worlds, don't look further. Everything is great with this game. There is a good amount of replayability as you can paint forever, the story is enjoyable and the humour is fitting. There's a Disney reference linked to the story that is both fun and smart. I appreciate that the fake languages the characters are talking are random words from real languages. On sale this is an instant pick-up if you want a great challenging or casual game you can hop into whenever you want.
MS Paint the game. I love the game and want more.
