Honk. (I'm not always one for puzzle games, but this one flows really well-all while introducing you memorable characters and leading you on a wild goose chase that's hard to put down.)
I'm only an hour and a half into this, but it is right up my alley! The plethora of diverse characters that I've met so far (there are a lot of them) have their own personalities that stand out. Each one of them getting me excited for who I would meet next. The tasks that the Part of You townsfolk give you are cyclical in the sense that doing one thing, x, typically requires you to have met and learned some information from another character, y, that requires you to have an item that you got from doing another task 10 minutes ago, z. But, as far as I've gotten, it's all handed to you in a very organized manner and it doesn't get overwhelming. It makes for a delightful loop of completing tasks, where accomplishing one objective often leads to another. The soundtrack is catchy, too! It's just a vibrant and whimsical as the rest of the game. There is a different song for every area that you visit. Vibin' to one song in particular? You'll be back in that area, don't worry 😄 Overall, Part of You delivers a charming and entertaining experience that is sure to appeal to players seeking a lighthearted adventure filled with personality and fun.
i love the art style and all the different characters !! interaction w/ characters is fun and engaging. i love that feeling when completing a task lol! looking forward to playing more!!!
This game has many goobers to meet - I will befriend them all. Art is silly, pleasant, and unique.
I'm really mixed on this game because I do love it a lot, but I do have to warn people before they get into it what it's like. First of all, the best part about this game is the humor. I found this game hilarious and even had a few audible laughs, which is an uncommon thing for me. Definitely a mix of awkward and absurdist humor. You get a bottle of googly eyes towards the start of the game, which I spent about 10 minutes just putting them on everyone. The characters are just so amazing, I loved that all of them had their own personalities. They felt really fleshed out, which surprised me a lot for a game like this. It actually drew me into the story a lot more than I expected because of the way everything was so well written. Everything was a joke but still felt so real. I have to talk about how much I love the visuals, too. The clash of the 3D backgrounds with the 3D characters made me really nostalgic for some reason. Reminds me of some of the older games I would play back in the day. It was actually the thing that pulled me to the game the most. I really love the unique look to this game. Unfortunately, there were some things that ruined it a bit for me. The first being just the amount of jank and bugs I experienced. There was at one point where I finished a task for a NPC, then whenever I would come back, they kept trying to give me the same task. There were also a few other things, like textures overlapping and flashing, that made it a bit rough sometimes. The game lacks clear directions, and so I ended up having to google answers to some of the puzzles. It's those kinds of puzzles that don't really make sense, so you're just left guessing what the devs were thinking when they made it. There weren't that many, but enough for it to be noticable. There is a hint system but it's more confusing and overstimulating than helpful. It's also pretty short. It was $20 for me, for just 3 hours, and some of that was just running around trying to figure out what to do. It's not that bad, it could be worse, but it is on the line of "is this game really worth it?". I would just wait until a sale to get it. It's still worth the experience just because of how funny it is!
SO FUN! Reminds me of Jazzpunk with its quirky puzzles and fun dialogue. Highly recommend.
I met the devs for this game a few years back at Pax East. They said that this game was inspired by Smile for Me so I left this game on my wishlist. I picked it up when it released and it sat on my backlog for a looooooooong time. However, once I finally decided to boot this game up I was greeted with a fun art style and a charming world. I really enjoyed learning about all the characters and goofy stuff happening in hacksaw springs. I really only needed to reference the community guide for about two or three puzzles but I was able to figure out the rest. I really enjoyed my time with the game and it was fun finally digging into this for a few days. Only things to mention is that this game is super indie so if you are okay with a few graphical glitches, achievements not working, or having to reopen a pathway or two when you reload your save then you are in for one heck of a time!
i think its good
An incredibly complex, interesting, and brain-scratching interlocking puzzle box dressed up as the goofiest, strangest world. I absolutely love this.
