> TLDR at the bottom. < I've only played so much of the game, but I've noticed there are no reviews and figured I'd be the first. This is a review of my personal experience, and what you get from the game may be different. Parse-O-Rhythm is a simple, yet deceptively challenging rhythm game that seems to be a mix of osu! and the more traditional scrolling rhythm game's most of us are familiar with. While the game has no lanes, "errors" (the notes of the game) scroll from the top of the screen to the bottom, where you time an input along a line after moving your character below it. There are two inputs, one for positive errors and another for negative errors. This makes the game have a surprising amount of difficulty while also giving off crazy dopamine if you hit a complicated combo perfectly. The soundtrack of the game is AMAZING. All of the artists are either friends of the developer or smaller artists hired by the dev(s? I'm not sure if I refer to them as one person or as a team, it's a similar situation to Ultrakill). each section of the game has it's own unique artist with their own style and music which leads to a wide variety of chart difficulty, speed, and music. From what I can tell, there is no community-driven content through either the workshop or built-in, which is incredibly unfortunate and limits the amount of content that can be enjoyed from the game. I'm not sure if this is planned but I hope this is something that changes in the future as the community grows. There's also a lack of controller support. This isn't as much of a negative as no community creation tools, but I can see huge potential in gyro support for the game. The dev(s) seem to be taking feedback well and interact with the community incredibly frequently over on the Discord server. There's also a sense of humor and not a lot of super strict professionalism over there, it's just people trying to make a good game :) TLDR: A fun yet simple rhythm game with a surprising amount of challenge and an absolutely amazing soundtrack. Some seemingly core features (community content and controller support) are missing but the dev(s?) are incredibly responsive and seem to be taking feedback seriously. All in all, the game may not be worth the $10 price tag, but is absolutely worth the cost when on sale, especially considering the funds go back into growing and improving the game over time. I really hope to see this game succeed in the long run, even with the rough start. I'm glad I could be here on day one (even though it may actually be day two, just pretend it's day one)
I do not play many rhythm games, likely because I suck at them, but this game has been incredibly enjoyable. I like being able to just use my mouse to play, as my small brain often gets too confused when a keyboard is involved. The art and music is good, the vibes are nice, and overall, this game is just pleasant to play. It has a good selection of easy songs for tone deaf failures like me, but some harder songs if you like pain. Somehow, even the hard levels aren't rage inducing, which probably saved my monitor.
I love a good rhythm game. Not because i'm good, i just enjoy them. This game is no exception. It comes with a beautiful and varying soundtrack as well as very smooth graphics. The core game play is unique from many rhythm games, and it works well and feels fantastic. The only "issue" i have is that the difficulty of levels escalates too fast, though this could also be done on purpose to show the player what to look forward to. The levels are separated into files, with the file immediately after the tutorial one being the hardest (for me at least). I would highly recommend you try this game, especially if you're a fan of rhythm games. Overall 10/10 will continue to attempt the level Dubious_Dessert
Quick Score: 4/5 Notes: Pretty fun rhythm game. Only complaints are lack of practice mode, and for some reason "escape" key is a fullscreen hot key, and the backspace button works like the escape button should. WARNING: The final song in this game is actually probably the most impossible "rhythm" game song ive ever seen in my life to S rank. And I've seen a lot of ♥♥♥♥.
It's a fun little rhythm game! The difficulty is definitely there if you're looking for it, however, if you want an easier time, there's plenty of levels for that too.
who up parsing they rhythms
It's a good one of those. I think a completionist would love the challenge here, and when you turn up the volume and get really into it, it's quite fun! Love the presentation. My only gripe is that I wish the mouse cursor would be hidden and locked to the center of the screen. Found myself moving the cursor upwards and out of bounds a few times. Fun game! Disclaimer: My music is featured.
WAIT, they kinda COOKED on this?????
I purchased this game not knowing what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at just how enjoyable and fun it was! I love rhythm games, and this is definitely a nice spin on the genre. The aesthetics are really cool, I love the pixel art computing-styled graphics. The music is great, and the game is fun but quite challenging. A fair warning, this game gets very fast-paced, it may catch you off guard if you're not expecting it. The difficulty definitely ramps up quickly, especially if you move right on to the "sweets" file. Those levels are pretty hard (especially the last one) and will definitely take some practice to master. Overall, it's a really fun rhythm game that had me replaying some of the levels just to experience the addictive gameplay loop of slashing glitches, all while vibing to the awesome soundtrack!
A beautiful rhythm game... WAY better than the demo. If you're looking to buy this game, BUY IT. The game is so addictive, and will always show you that you need to get higher than an F rank on a really hard level! You can customize your controls, which is something you SHOULD be doing. I've never seen a rhythm game this good in my entire life, and if you just want to spend a quick 10 bucks, here's what to spend it on!
