Nothing about this game is interesting or worth the ridiculous amonts of time it forces you to spend waiting and doing nothing.
weird and worthwhile little vignette. 10/10 gun scene- amazing weight and impact behind the one shot; the revolver moment was the game's peak for me, with the rest being interesting atmospheric vibes. paratopic leaves you with a curious weird feeling without asking much in return. it's an uncanny fever dream, close your eyes and take the ride.
I had no idea what was happening.

Interesting atmospheric horror, I just wish it was longer and had more substance. The soundtrack was great though.
Paratopic feels like digging up some cursed VHS and deciding “yeah I’ll watch this” and then regretting it in the best way. Cuts make no sense, characters talk like something’s wrong, and you’re just there trying to piece it together while the game quietly messes with your head. No cheap jumpscares, just pure off-feeling that keeps getting worse the longer you sit with it. It’s over fast, but it leaves that nasty “what the hell was that” stuck in your brain way longer than it should. legit one of the best short indie horror things I’ve played. 8.5/10, feels wrong and works.
What in the David Lynch is this? And keep in mind, I say this as a Lynch fan. But real fans know there's a difference between Twin Peaks Lynch, which, for all its abstraction, is at least comprehensible in its fever-dream surrealism, and Mulholland Drive-coded David Lynch, which falls into the "I could watch this film a billion times and still have no earthly idea what the heck is going on" category. Yeah, this game falls squarely into the latter. I know there are contraband VHS tapes and smuggling involved, as well as... well... I don't really know. Entities? Aliens? (Maybe. Don't quote me on that.) Bird-watching, flower Demogorgon-esque monsters... do with that information what you will. The game is very short as well, which is fine, but the worldbuilding and plot development amount to a snack-sized dose of WTF soup.
Interesting experience. Worthwhile for the asking price I'd say. A lot of the reviews I've read since finishing the game are doing too much. The game's narrative is intentionally all over and wonky; it's what makes this piece unique and fun. It is not scary or unsettling; not sure why so many are saying it is so adamantly. Great music and sound design; probably the biggest pro to the game. Very nice aesthetic style too. I think you just have to take the 45 minute playthrough for what it is. Gather what you can about the story and then just think on it afterwards. Create the meaning yourself. I'll recommend it, but just barely. A normal out-of-ten score doesn't feel right for this game.
