THIS GAME IS CAUSING ME STRESS! IT CRASHED ALL THE TIME. I COUDNT ENJOY THIS. !
I cannot recommend this game in its current state. It has potential, though and I would love to play it when it is finished. it is very pretty with a ton of customization. But, the paras are flat out just not doing what I need them to do, rotating is very hard on a mac computer with a mousepad, and this drains my battery so quickly that my computer was burning me (albeit that is expected with huge open worlds, lol). I kept trying to get my para to just go to the bathroom and they kept playing video games. they both have too much autonomy and none at all, because on the other hand-- if I do not tell my para to do anything, sometimes they will just stand there for a good minute or two doing nothing.
In my opinion, some of the game’s biggest problems come directly from its main features. 1. Different character heights I love how the animations look outside of actual gameplay. The movements seem to breathe, and the characters feel alive. But the height system ruins it. If all characters were the same height, couples wouldn’t kiss the inside of each other’s heads, Paras wouldn’t brush their cheeks instead of their teeth, and sandwiches wouldn’t clip through their chins. This feature undermines all the amazing work the animators have done. A proper look-at system could make this problem less noticeable by having Paras focus on the characters or objects they’re interacting with. But right now, they don’t EVEN look at each other while talking, which is especially obvious when they’re different heights. 2. Free object placement and resizing I think these features contribute heavily to how often characters end up clipping INTO refrigerators, sofas, TVs, and other objects. When players can place objects almost anywhere and resize them freely, it becomes much harder for animations, routing, interaction points, and object boundaries to work consistently. My impression is that Alex Massé created and presented these features to the public before the team became heavily focused on live mode. By the time they saw all the consequences, it may have been too late to roll them back. Since the game is being developed by an indie team of around 15 people, I don’t believe they have the resources to fully reconcile these systems with the rest of the gameplay. That’s why I can’t recommend the game. “But it’s being made by an indie team of 15 people!” That’s exactly why I think indie teams should simplify their work and abandon some of the “cool” features if those features cause major problems throughout the entire game. Do less, but do it well. It would’ve been better to avoid different character heights and unrestricted object resizing altogether. The game might’ve attracted less attention or made less money, but players would’ve received a more polished, higher-quality product. (Still, I really hope that adding a proper look-at system will make the game less unpleasant for me to play. I follow every update and I’m REALLY looking forward to it)
This game is so buggy, even in Build Mode and Live Mode. It's honestly so frustrating. I spent almost 3 hours in building mode, and then my platform suddenly disappeared. Building platforms is already frustrating enough with one tiny mistake and everything gets messed up. Don't even get me started on the stairs... ughhh. My floor suddenly glitched too. So many bugs
I want to love this game so much and honestly, I do but right now, it is completely broken. I have already invested 20 hours into Paralives, only for my save file to become an unplayable mess due to game-breaking crashes. The culprit? A dirty plate is literally floating somewhere in my Para's house, and every single time the game tries to process it, the entire thing freezes and crashes. I'm stuck, and 20 hours of progress are completely held hostage by a piece of flying tableware. Please, developers, fix your game. I am desperate to keep playing, but I physically can't right now. I will gladly change this to a positive review the second these game-breaking bugs are patched, but until then, it’s a frustrating thumbs down. Fix the crashes!
Dislike because there is no gameplay. The characters just stand around the place and do nothing unless you directly tell them to do something, it feels lifeless in a life sim game. I really hope the devs will improve on life aspect of the game. And I hope that if they add more autonomy, it will also allow for characters to meet with new people on their own (there is literally a personality trait for that). It is early access, so there's much potential for various mechanics for the life mode. I really hope that it's going to be main focus of the updates for now, because that's the foundation of the LIFE sim game.
woke crap, skip it
