Honestly, it's a huge downgrade from Pako 2. The 70's film aesthetic is gone. Yes, there's more modes, but the maps are tiny. It doesn't matter because you only have a few hits until you die and most of the time it's because you can't see where you're going. There's barely any options, either. It just reeks of "we don't care". The music is still pretty good, though. It's only a few bucks but I'd say play Pako 2 instead.
This game is fun in its own right but when you look at the other Pako games from the developer (Pako and Pako 2), it is poorly built. I have played Pako and Pako 2 on mobile for a long time, playing those games on PC and comparing it to Pako 3 is pretty disappointing. It has several game modes like Survival [ in a tiny space map ], Racing, Getaway Driver [Like Pako 2 but worse], and Zones. Still, I don't recommend it, better to stick with Pako and Pako 2. Im gonna rate it 4/10
What the hell, how is that game a massive downgrade from previous entry?
ENG: One of those games that I buy for the sake of buying and end up being pleasantly surprised. PAKO 3 is a great little action car game, highlighting its nice graphics, varied game modes, and overwhelming amount of content. There are dozens of levels and cars to unlock, definitely a solid purchase.
Story/Music/Optimization (7 / 10) :
The music is good, multiples songs in the game, and overall nice sound design (police car siren, crash, your car engine …) Good optimization (played on a i5; RAM = 8Go; VRAM = 2Go), don’t have problem / glitches / freeze during gameplay.
Final Note (7,2 / 10) :
🔶 [b] PAKO 3 is a good survival racing game, with many levels, but having shorter maps comparing of PAKO 1 & 2, worth the try in you are into minimalist arcade racing games[b] 🔶 💚💚💚 : - Solid content (+50 levels) for a cheap price (4 €) - Multiples camera views, pretty rare in this type of games - 4 Main gamemodes, pretty different gameplays ❌❌❌ : - Car are really too long to get, because of not many coins get according to there price (you win around 50-100 coins / game, when they cost around 5000-10000 coins each) - Some survival areas are pretty annoying because of many death traps. Hello! At the moment I have 182/182 stars and I additionally achieved my personal goal of having all #1 places on racing levels for now :) And what can I say? First of all, Pako 3 is fun. The art style is fancy, levels are cool and modes are interesting to play (well, mostly). In addition, this game feels the most completed out of pako series. Pako 1 had an idea, then pako 2 added great atmosphere and exciting mechanics to it, but both felt lacking of something. However... You need to understand that this game is much closer to the first part than to sequel. Which is a very unexpected turn after such a cool concept of pako 2 that asked for it's future expansion. This is not a problem, not a complain, just a thing to keep in mind while buying. I had a lot of fun completing levels I liked, seeing my progress and getting the best results I could. Until something evil inside told me to get every star! And oh hell, sometimes I was surprised with how inconsistent this game feels when trying to do your best (sea saw sea saw sea saw sea saw sea saw sea saw se...) Surely, there're some strange physics and bugs from time to time, but they're not too critical (but still noticeable). Verdict: with some nuances I do recommend Pako 3 for it's price . Get it for some fun!
Quite fun, but misunderstood. The devs failed attempt at expanding their playerbase resulted them getting a mediocre review score from the niche audience they already had. The previous 2 Pako games had this quite unique sephia-toned 70s car chase movie aesthetic. With the second one they more or less perfected the recipe, perhaps that's why they tried this completely different approach, out of ideas on how to enhance their game further. If you compare the store pages of Pako 2 and Pako 3 side by side you can immediately tell how this one is more casual oriented with a cartoony chibified look, and it plays that way as well. There are about 60 levels in this final build across 4 different modes, and except for 3 getaway maps all the maps feature rather small constrained closed areas. Unselectable dotted circles in stage selection screens imply there were originally more to come to this game, and despite its sidetracking and backtracking from the franchise's original premise, I feel a little bit down because this is not a badly made game at all. Had they named this as a non-numbered spinoff title from the first place intended to fill the respite phase I have no doubt there would have been better responses from the players. Good for what it is. Recommended.
This feels like a downgrate...
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3397800699 Ok i have to be serious. I went back to writting this review because i forgot about i had PAKO 3. Thats right, "had". Shortly after i played it, it really didnt click with me. PAKO 2 was a great game and feels compliedly different next to PAKO 3, it was just not the same...
So "bad"?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3397800622 First of all, gone are the "open world" like areas. Massive Gun-fights? Gone. Insteed of "all of that", you get basically a waterd-down version from an event-racer like game. Small areas, small levels. Srsly, i duno what the deal was but PAKO 3 feels way to different next to PAKO 1 & 2. I just cant recommend it, it hits and plays way to different.
DO i recommend it?
IF you enjoyed the PAKO series SO far, i would sure say no. Dont get PAKO 3. Its not the same, clearly not. IF you enjoy small action-car games and never even PLAYED one of the other PAKO games, than i "would" say you could try it. Its kinda a mixed bag and again, here i wish steam would give me the opinion for a "middle review". In one hand, its not "to bad" for what the game is but as for a PAKO game in its series, it feels not like one. So i have to give it a hard pass.
Not recommended, at least if you DO/DID enjoy the other PAKO games. As for myself i refunded it even, Sorry.
If you want to keep busy with an arcade driving game, you can’t get wrong with this one. The game is divided into four separate modes. There's survival, in which you have to flee cops and live as long as possible, racing, in which you drive laps around courses, gateway driver, in which you pick up thieves and drive them to a safe house, and zones, in which you capture areas. The gameplay is suited for everyone because you only have to worry about steering, holding down the throttle, pressing turbo that slowly recharges, and occasionally slamming the brakes or going in reverse. I prefer the top-down view, although you may switch to a third-person view. Earning stars unlocks both stages and cars. Although most take place in cities, the stages are quite impressive and varied. You drive on top of a parking structure, an oil rig, and even a pit with massive saws. I also like the several different types and color palettes coming after you. In addition to the standard patrol vehicles, there are tanks and attack helicopters. While stages become available as soon as you meet the star criteria, cars must be purchased first with coins. Regardless of which stage you play, you will always win money by doing well or smashing into things. Coins are slightly magnetic, so you just need to drive close enough to pull them all in. The best way to get money is to destroy police cars. You cannot do it by yourself because you take a lot of damage, so you either let them collide or get a random perk by driving through a gift. These appear at random locations across the stage and can include a bundle of cash, temporary slow motion, or even a drone that attacks cops. Survival could be considered the main mode because it includes the most levels, although racing isn't far behind. Each stage awards four stars depending on how long you survive (survival) or how quickly you complete a single lap (racing). Getting all four stars with the initial cars is quite impossible, so you'll need to return later with quicker and more durable vehicles. There are 35 cars with varying armor, speed, and handling. Each costs a few coins more than the previous one, although they aren't always better. There’s a choice to grind for money and buy one of the 15 unique cars. They all cost the same and aren't locked behind stars, but they're very expensive. Unfortunately, the grind is very brutal because it’s very hard to get coins. Stars reward is received only once, and all you can do then is collect coins one by one. If you want to get a unique car that costs fifteen thousand by grinding stages that barely give you fifty coins, you’re going to spend a lot of days doing the same thing. Sadly, getting all stars is almost impossible because cars aren't better and you don't get any upgrades. Other two modes are more like extra activities. Gateway also has four stars, however it only includes three stages. Zones is the only one with linear progress, which means you can advance to the next stage just by beating the current one. The goal of zones is to drive within specific areas for 10 seconds in order to capture them. This mode gives cops a futuristic appearance, but it is also fairly basic because stages take place in empty and boring areas.
