I came to this game as a Taiwanese American who simply wanted to support Taiwanese developers. I thought I was just going to buy the game, try it out, feel good that I supported my people. I had no idea I was walking straight into a soul-searching journey that would hit me this deeply. What I found instead was a story that felt like stepping into my parents’ generation — their fears, their wounds, their hopes — all wrapped inside a haunting, beautiful world built with so much heart. The way this game handles Taiwan’s White Terror era… it’s not sensationalized nor preachy; it’s gentle, respectful, and honest in a way that somehow makes the tragedy feel even more real (and some Taoism horror along the way). It’s the kind of storytelling that makes you stop, breathe, and feel the weight of history that our families carried but rarely spoke about. I lost count of how many times I cried. Not because the game forced it… but because the emotions snuck up on me in the quiet moments. It felt like meeting the ghosts of my own heritage and finally listening to their stories. To the developers: thank you. Truly. You didn’t just make a game. You made a bridge for someone like me, born far away from Taiwan, reconnect with a part of myself I didn’t even realize I was missing. My only regret is that I bought it on sale. This game is worth so much more than the price. It gave me an experience I’ll remember for a long, long time. 我是一名台美人，原本只是想支持台灣的開發者才買下這款遊戲。當時以為自己做的只是一件小小的善事：買來玩一下，覺得支持到自己的同胞就好。完全沒想到，自己踏進的會是一段如此深刻、直擊靈魂的旅程。 這款遊戲彷彿帶我走進父母那一代的記憶──他們的恐懼、創傷，以及那些曾經熾熱卻被迫沈默的希望──全都被溫柔而細膩地置入一個有溫度、有靈魂的故事世界裡。 它描寫台灣白色恐怖的方式沒有誇張、沒有說教，而是以一種尊重、克制又真實的筆觸呈現。正因為如此，反而更能讓人感受到那段歷史的重量（中間還交織著道教式的恐怖氛圍，更讓人心有餘悸）。 這樣的敘事會讓你不自覺停下來，深呼吸一下，安靜地感受那些家族歷史中從未被說出口的沉重。 我甚至不記得自己哭了多少次。不是因為遊戲刻意煽情，而是那些情緒會在靜下來的時刻慢慢浮上來──像是遇見了自己文化根源裡長久沉睡的幽靈，終於願意停下腳步聽他們說話。 想對開發團隊說一句：真的，謝謝你們。 你們做的不只是一款遊戲，而是一座橋梁，讓像我這樣生在海外的人，有機會重新連結那個原本以為早已模糊的身份與根。 唯一讓我後悔的，是我是折扣時買的。這款作品的價值遠遠超過售價。 它給了我一段深刻到會長久留在心裡、久久難以忘懷的體驗。

Overall score: 7/10 First of all, I'll preface this that this review has a bit of spoilers, I won't reveal the story, but I may mention some of the mechanics or challenges inside. So basically, the setting of the game is in 1947 as said in the game description. Maybe Taiwanese would have extra feel when they see a certain someone on a poster 可能台灣人玩游戲時，看到某某一個頭像會特別 “有感” As a general guide, this game is not a game where you just rush ahead and just fight/bash your way through, there are some puzzles and stuff you gotta solve before you progress, but there's nothing in-game to stop you from rushing ahead. There is also no indication of when you are fighting a 'boss' level ghost. Sometimes you would reach there and... oops you're not well equipped. The good thing is that when your character die, you go back to the previous checkpoint which allows you to redo some challenges to be well equipped this time. Bad thing? If you're a bad gamer (like me) who die repeatedly to the same thing, the cut scenes can't... be... skipped. Overall, I would say this game is very well done, but the ending is a bit... abrupt? And the game play seems to be pretty short (it wasn't really for me because my character kept dying, but if you beat everything at the first go, it is). One big part of what dragged down the overall score is the challenges in space(?) where you have to jump on magic saucers/plates and land on another one. The one with rotating beams (kinda like Fall Guys) are also kinda out of place imo. Overall, I would recommend this game if you like the Taiwanese culture. The voiceover is 100% in Taiwanese (臺語). I'm Singaporean (in my 30's) but I can understand the voiceover. I still have English subtitles on though. P.S. I don't seem to be able to get the controller settings to work. At least not without getting into Big Picture Mode (steam setting). I have a PS4 controller and it doesn't work when I connect it.
