Overlook Trail is an enjoyable and relaxing exploratory adventure which can be quite difficult in places which may well hinder progress. Overlook Trail is going to be quite difficult to explain which pays homage to its quirkiness, creativeness, and general oddness. There is a lot of exploration involved and it feels relaxing with sumptuous visuals and a wonderfully chilled soundtrack throughout. In this sense it feels a little like a walking simulator but there are puzzles and platforming elements that break up play and each level feels separate and disjointed rather than congealed to form a coherent adventure. I would probably describe Overlook Trail as more of a bizarre escape room game than anything else. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3470259718 At first, the game felt quite challenging and it took me a while to get my bearings and work out what was going on. There's no hand holding and you are dumped in environments and left alone to work out how to escape that situation. Sometimes, there are environmental clues to help you out and other times there is a lot of trial and error and experimentation to work out what you need to do to escape. There are no hints available so I can foresee that this might cause some people to get stuck because it's not always obvious what to do and sometimes the environments can be quite large and need a lot of exploration to find needed parts in out of way places. Also, to break play up a little, there are levels that require precision when flying through hoops or avoiding fallen debris and environmental hazards. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3470325726 If you do get bogged down in one of the levels you can quit back to the menu where there is a star map and you can skip around levels you have already visited. Each level contains a number of orbs which you can find and collect to award achievements and there are certain other achievements which can be earned on each level which are quite self-explanatory if you read them. On each level there is also a constellation to find which is just an object resembling a star system that can be found in out of way places and are quite challenging to find. The atmosphere is great and I especially liked the soundtrack which I can only describe as a strange mixture of Brian Eno and Pink Floyd. It’s purely instrumental but very relaxing and atmospheric and along with the colourful visuals, it brings a strange sci-fi feel to proceedings. I am sort of stuck at the moment because I'm just not sure what to do in one particular level and progression can be halted because sometimes you have to complete a level to be able to travel to the next one if they are joined together.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Overlook Trail is an odd game but very atmospheric and quite challenging to complete. I do worry that the difficulty may prove too difficult for some without a hint mechanism, but there are a few walk through videos online if you get desperate. Overall, it felt quite creative and imaginative to play with interesting level design and puzzles based on exploration and dexterity. If you enjoy strange games and like escape room mechanics mixed in with exploration then this might be a good fit for you.

Curator Info:
Thank you for reading my review. Хорошая игра, на один вечер. Приходится быстро, с хорошей атмосферной музыкой. 👍
Incredible! So many awesome ideas packed into this game. Also a lot more challenging (in a fun way) than I was expecting. I definitely wanna go back and try and find all of the secrets I missed.
Beautiful, stylish visuals and an amazing soundscape. I spent a lot of time just looking at things from different angles and enjoying the atmosphere. The game is like a surreal dream with unexpected but fulfilling gameplay. Relaxing in its simplicity, charmingly peculiar in its design, but tied together into a cohesive whole that I will keep coming back to.
Un gran videojuego valio la pena cada momento. muchas gracias por crear un juego tan lindo. Musica, Graficos, ambientacion increibles 10 de 10 me falta 6 logros para completarlo
I liked the game alot. and it's super peaceful and well done Longhand Electric!
Jeu de la poésie avec des casses têtes plus ou moins difficile que je recommande pour les amateurs du genre ;)
This is by far one of the best games I have EVER played. I couldn't stop smiling and having a great time because the experience is that incredible. It's hard to put into words how great this game is.
Brilliant game, although it felt like less of a traditional "video game" and more of an interactive audio visual experience. Not to say the gameplay isn't any fun, but the main things pulling me in were definitely the visuals and soundtrack. Loved the graffiti scattered around each level, I found so many charming little doodles! It'll take around 2.5 hours to finish the game if you take your time, and there's at least another hour and a half there for achievements. If a movie theater ticket costs 15 bucks nowadays, this is definitely worth it. Especially on sale, grab it!
Shocked at how much this game seems to have been overlooked (pun intended)! Fantastic first-person adventure experience, reminiscent of games like Journey or Sayonara Wild Hearts in some ways but as a whole it's unlike most everything else I've played. Surreal in the best way, can definitely see myself going back to get 100% completion!
