It nails that addictive, strategic gameplay loop that keeps you saying, “Just one more run.” For the price, the depth here is genuinely impressive - there’s a good balance of immediately obvious strategies, and others that only reveal themselves after a few hours of experimentation. The graphics aren’t flashy by any means, but they’re smartly chosen and functional. What really matters is the gameplay, and that’s where this Overdrawn shines. It’s an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys thoughtful deckbuilders or roguelike mechanics.

This is more like what I hoped Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers would play like. Great visuals, soundtrack is a mood. Enjoying my playtime so far.

Overdrawn takes inspiration from great card games like Balatro and Slay the Spire, then applies it to blackjack. Underneath the easy-to-learn gameplay there is a surprising amount of customization and strategy that goes into choosing your characters, DNA, and cards. The addition of reforge and upgrades gives even more options. I really like the simple, cute art style and how it combines with the chill background music, making for an experience that is enjoyable for 5 minutes or multiple hours.

Amazing game! As somebody who hasn't played a card game before, it was confusing at first but i quickly learned how to play it. The visuals and sound effects are also amazing. I would definitely recommend the game if you are into things like this!

Decided I wanted to try a random recently released game. Stumbled upon this one and it looked cool enough to give it a try. I'm a big fan of Slay the Spire and roguelikes in general, so seemed worth giving a try. Glad I did, it's brilliant. It's simple enough to get the gist of it quickly, but complex enough that it's going to take me a while to get the strategy figured out. Surprisingly well polished and so far feels well balanced. Very impressive!

This review is specially made for those who like to get all the achievements in games. Some spoilers ahead. Overdrawn is a short indie roguelike deckbuilding game with some similarities to Balatro but based on Blackjack instead of poker. To score 21 you’ll play up to 5 cards, but you’ll be playing against other characters and not alone trying to reach a score. Also, instead of having a normal deck, you’ll be playing cards with values ranging from 1 to 11, so luck will play a big role in every match you play until you can narrow down these values, preferably to an exact value card. Like in Balatro there are also “jokers” and packs with upgrades to buy, but only 3 antes, which is why the game is rather short for its genre. On the other hand, the graphics look very different from Balatro: instead of the retro pixel art, this game uses a more modern, streamlined look with bright colors and very small avatars for the enemies and player character. The mechanics and gameplay in general are fun, but the deckbuilding options are limited, and with just 3 antes, it’s hard to reach a build’s full potential. Personally, I think focusing on flame cards is the best strategy because it deals damage and messes with the opponents score as well. Having more cards in hand also seemed like the best option for jokers if you can’t get anything for your specific build. The achievements are also generously easy as you only need to beat each difficulty with one character of your choice. I played almost all games with the default character because the ability to be completely cured after scoring 21 seemed like the best one. From experience I also realized that having cards with exact numbers is better than unpreditable cards with good abilities if getting 21 frequently makes a difference. Some bosses are also harder than others. [b]Overall opinion:[/b] Overdrawn is fun but short on content roguelike deckbuilder that fans of Balatro will probably enjoy, but it does look different and it’s also played differently, depending more on luck and not on math score calculations. So much fun! It's simple, easy to understand, hard to master. I'd recommend to anyone a fan of deckbuilders, it's also 100% worth the price!
