One of the best movement systems, and refreshing compared too the influx of non gravity movement. Oval is a game to fill the fast paced arcady shooter, a change of pace from the slower first person shooters out there.
Muy buen juego!!!! Rápido y sensación de acción constante. El editor de mapas es una pasada!!! Muy recomendable. Ahora a esperar las siguientes updates.
I have been playing the beta of Oval and feel compelled to leave a review (I don't normally review games!) The gameplay and weapons are reminiscent of classic fast paced games like quake and UT. I didn't think this was possible in VR due to motion sickness, but the movement system means I have not experienced any motion sickness - think echo arena style thrusters but with gravity and faster. This does take a few minutes to get used to and a little longer to master, but I find the movement more engaging than standard stick locomotion. While it's clearly an early access title (posting on the first day of early access) and there are bugs to be fixed, features to be added, the core gameplay is solid and the developer is actively working on enhancing the game with new modes etc. I have played several games with a developer and he has lots of ideas. There is a lot of potential here. The level editor as well has the potential to add a lot of longevity to the game. The game works fine on the rift
Amazing game! Even in the actual Early Access state the game has a lot more to offer than most of the other VR games out there. Really looking forward for all the new content! I know you can trust the developers as they are being really communicative and responsive during the beta. If you have any suggestion don’t hesitate to ask them in the Discord channel, the will solve it for sure!
This game is fantastic. I played throughout the beta and managed to clock over 6 hours even though at that point it was mostly against bots which show just how much fun this game is. This is one of those games that you can easily pick up and play if you only have a spare 15 minutes or you can play for hours. For me, it's a lot like rocket league in the way that it is easy to play but takes time to master so you can have fun with this no matter your skill level. Considering this is early access, it is at a very good stage due to the developers really sticking with it and listening to feedback. Anyway, enough of me rambling on, time for me to go and play a few rounds.
Disclosure: I participated in the closed beta for the game and was given a free copy for it. If you were a fan of shooters like quake, tribes and unreal tournament, and have been looking for a vr shooter that moves as fast - I highly recommend this game. Oval provides a really fun and fast paced first person shooter experience with quick fluid motion and high flying acrobatics. So far, the gameplay is pretty basic with a capture and hold game mode with a few weapons available. The main feature is the locomotion system which has you hovering on skates and using thrusters on your elbows to direct your motion. The hover skates let you move around pretty fast and with momentum and with the designs of the official maps, you can use this momentum to zoom around and even fly above opponents while you shoot them. Additionally, on your off hand, you have a booster which gives an extra thrust in the direction you point your controller, allowing for quick changes in direction or just more speed in the direction you're already moving. Together, this locomotion system allows you to go really fast, make really cool moves and get a great arena FPS feeling, without feeling motion sick! The developer has been very responsive in discord and takes a lot of suggestions from the community and implements them very quickly. At this stage, I have had a lot of fun playing and foresee a lot more fun in the future with more maps and game modes to come. The developer has also implemented a skill tree with different abilities. So far, I find that these give you a few options for different achievements and playstyle without giving players with more hours superpowers. So far, they are pretty well balanced. In all, a great little shooter with a lot of potential for growth especially with user created maps.
Game was cool, but multiplayer was non-existant. There was no building or creative mode available like in the trailer. Movement was similar to Echo VR. I'm returning it.
A really incredible VR game. Controls very fast response, fast action and I think it is not recommended to be the first game you try with your helmets because it can disappoint the rest. Team action, multiplayer and no dizzy effect, as promised. Really a #must if you like shooters. Waiting for competitions and events to start.
Oval is a different VR game from the rest of VR shooters. It has guns, a comfortable aiming system, a new type of movement system that is easy to use and hard to master, and intensive vr action. If i had to compare it with other games, this is definetly "Quake meets rollerblades in VR". Map variety is a bit small, but the custom map maker is a neat feature. Gun variety is good. Combat is also super interesting, and the movement system with boost is a total game changer. If you got the money, and want a different VR experience, Oval is the best choice.
More people should be playing this fast and fun game.
