A lovely minimalistic indie puzzle, with some interesting ideas. Developed in Unity, the game is based on drawing lines in order to pass or touch the colored dots that fill the screen. Sounds quite hard? Well, the game has 100 levels and yeah, it's hard! Just one advice - play the game in full-screen, since it has lots of issues on windowed (it seems it's a mobile phone port or similar things). Well, we aren't given a tutorial but the basics of the game are fairly simple to get in the first levels - we have colorful playing boards with balls on them, and with our mouse we'll draw weird black lines that we'll somehow "send" towards them. Our goal is to clear the field from all the colored balls by touching them with our lines. What are the issues? Well, we must not only avoid the top and the bottom of the screen (it's an instant reload-game over), but we must also stay away from the black balls that will block our line. The line will repeat the pattern we make, but you can't touch anything while drawing it. So.. the game gets really challenging - you'll be drawing "invisible" lines and you'll have to predict where they will go when bouncing off the left and right sides of the screen, thus avoiding the black balls and clearing out all the colored ones. If you're into small indie puzzles, this one for sure is quite nice. The concept is somehow new, and even if the game lacks a tutorial and better effects it's challenging and interesting. For its price I'd recommend it to puzzle lovers.

Outline is an interesting puzzle game with, at least from my perspective, a fairly unique mechanic of drawing slashes that you then send across the screen in some capacity to slice through various colored orbs. If you hit anything that is black, or send the line off to the top or bottom screen boundaries, the puzzles reset. However, you can use the left and right sides of the screen to bounce your line in an attempt to assist your angles. Additionally, you don't have to draw a straight line. You can squiggle or otherwise impact the shape to impact your trajectory. For me, I'll definitely never finish all one hundred levels, as I'm just not this sort of clever. But, the challenge feels fair, and the solution is always right there waiting for you to find it with a bit of ingenuity. If you enjoy geometric and motion puzzles, I think you will love this game and it definitely seems well worth a purchase. Draw a line that will repeat a pattern to hit all the coloured dots. Its quite a neat mechanic but ultimately it boils down to much the same method of completing each level. Trace out where the dots are offset from where you need to hit then start the pattern offset back again. There is the odd addition like dots that fire off dots, but they never really get smart enough to change the basic tactic. What it amounts to is just a series of those get a wire hoop from one end to the other without touching the wire its hooped around. I did finish it, but it was largely just keeping my hands busy while I caught up with some TV, and frankly a good ballpoint pen can reach that level. Its a nice proof of concept for a single mechanic, but that mechanic should probably be one small part of a bigger better puzzler. Edit: Also, the games UI is quite broken. Buttons will go off screen if you play it in a window, and if you pick the wrong aspect ratio its unplayable. It doesnt break the game, but it is very shoddy. Dont rely on its extremely repetitive single piece of music either.
It's very difficult to know what to do without any tutorial :/
Genre
Ein Puzzle Spiel
Gameplay
Achievements
Es gibt insgesamt 11 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man alle 100 Level schaffen
Simple concept : you have colored dots to clear by drawing a line that will touch or pass through them. The trick is that you can't touch anything while drawing said line, but you can let it go at anytime, and it will then repeat the pattern you just made. It can get quite tough (I had a hard time with level 45 for example), and at the time of this review, I'm still not done (at level 85 out of 100). The music is ok, but extremely repetitive, you'll stop it quite quickly (which is actually more complicated than it should : you get access to the options only after finishing a level). Strangely too, there's no possibility to go to the next level once you've finished one, you must go back to the level select screen. There's also a leaderboard, but I have actually no idea of what it is tracking (some time, but which one ? no clue). Apart from these little flaws, certainly recommended (if you have enough patience to carefully and repeatedly draw a pattern until you get everything right).
Warning: Asset Flip!
Outline is a Unity Asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", XiNFiNiTY Games, took the Blinking Line Unity Store tutorial/demo/game asset pack from the real developers, Onefall Games, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. XiNFiNiTY Games has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Infinity Escape" = Smash Way Hit Pyramids developed by Andrew Oleynik
"Lozenge" = Trigon developed by FMGames
"Infinity Trip" = Wavy Trip developed by SgLib
"Abscond" = Avoid game tutorial developed by Tommy Den Reijer
The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Blinking Line" is just a minimalist mobile app line art puzzle game template, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so a copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips are an insult to both PC gamers and to professional game developers who create genuine, high quality PC games. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from XiNFiNiTY Games.
