Outlast 2 introduces you to Sullivan Knoth and his followers, who left our wicked world behind to give birth to Temple Gate, a town, deep in the wilderness and hidden from civilization. Knoth and his flock are preparing for the tribulations of the end of times and you’re right in the thick of it.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 6.43/day in the week to Aug 18 → 18.14/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 17 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,502 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Okay this one messed me up way more than the first game, and it's almost entirely because of the story. You're playing Blake, a journalist out in the Arizona desert with his wife Lynn investigating a murder, and things go sideways fast — your helicopter crashes and you wake up in the middle of nowhere surrounded by this cult that's basically been waiting for the end of the world. And the deeper you go, the more you realize this isn't just "crazy cult, run away," it's actually two competing groups of unhinged people who both think they're the ones doing God's work. What really got me was how the game splits the horror into two layers. There's what's happening now — Sullivan Knoth and his followers out in Temple Gate doing increasingly disturbing stuff in the name of scripture — and then there's Blake's own childhood trauma, which starts bleeding into the present the deeper he goes. You get these flashback sequences to a Catholic school he attended as a kid, and slowly it becomes clear that the horror you're dealing with now is tangled up with something that happened to him decades ago. It's not just "scary things are happening," it's "why is my own mind doing this to me right now." Honestly the religious fanaticism angle is what makes it stick with you. It's not cartoonish evil, it's people who genuinely, fully believe they're doing the righteous thing, which somehow makes it scarier than a straightforward monster would be. And unlike the first game where the villains were tragic victims of experimentation, here everyone's a believer, which makes every conversation and every ritual you stumble into feel like it's building toward something apocalyptic. By the end, the way the present-day cult stuff and Blake's buried past collide genuinely recontextualizes everything that happened earlier in the game. I won't spoil where it lands, but it's the kind of ending that has you sitting there afterward going "wait, so was any of that real." If Outlast made you appreciate horror with a real story behind it, Outlast 2 doubles down on that and gets a lot more psychological and disturbing in the process. Just know it's a bit more polarizing than the first — the pacing and some of the imagery are a lot to sit with.
