ourea calls itself a cinematic puzzle game and sure enough, cutscenes with cinematic shots happen very often. too often, as a matter of fact, disturbing what little gameplay there is without providing anything substantial for the most part. you're controlling a floating stone thing that comes to life at the beginning and goes through area after area, trying to figure out what's what and why most of the place is in such a bad shape. there is no text in the game, no characters to talk to either, it's more about environmental puzzle solving to proceed to the next area and eventually reach the beam of light in the distance. there are 4 levels and no mid-level saving, nor checkpoints. rotating gears only indicate loading, so be on the lookout for a floppy disk icon to find out when it's safe to quit without losing progress. this got patched in right before release, until then it was only the gears and I thought the game saved after every location, as it should. the graphics are colorful and varied, but texture quality isn't that great. I was playing on a pc around minimum requirements and performance was often horrible, especially during cutscenes and in a few other locations (e.g. after the elevator ride), but I'm more tolerant of lower framerates and turning vsync off helped a bit, plus everybody has to have a better pc than my paperweight from olden times, so it most likely won't be an issue for anyone. still, some graphics settings, including resolution options, would be necessary to tweak the experience a bit. speaking of settings, there are separate volume sliders, but positions aren't saved between sessions. brightness works as it should, and level selection is only available after finishing the game. that's it. for something described as cinematic, camera angles are more often in the way than not and controls aren't that great either, you can get stuck on nothing and pushing boulders around is tedious. keyboard and controller both work, mouse only in the menu, can't rebind anything. space is to interact, wasd is for movement, arrows are used to pan the camera but it barely does anything, completely useless. it would've been better to offer arrow movement as an alternative instead, especially with no key rebinding, or actual camera controls to have a look around the environments. it's a 2-hour game with only a few very easy puzzles, sometimes drawings help you out with the next step (other times they fill you in on some of the story), but there aren't many things to interact with, so it shouldn't be hard to figure things out. cutscenes are unskippable, always a pain, as you have to replay the annoying final level to get the other ending. it's a very cautious recommendation on sale, nothing to write home or get excited about, but okay for a younger audience or people not looking for too much of a challenge (or any, really).

Really chill game with a nice ambience and awesome puzzle design.
Ourea is a fantastic game to sink a little time into. The visuals are fantastic. The hand painted textures fit together quite well and it is worth your while taking time to stop and look around at the world. The use of particle effects and other small bits really make the world feel alive. The games audio is also implemented very well which too aids in making the world feel alive. The puzzles are not too challenging and the game is quite a casual play. If you are looking for a challenge then you wont find it here, but what you will find is a nice, chill and pleasant experience that leaves you wishing the game was that little bit longer.
I was following this game for a little bit since a friend of mine was involved in the development. I finally got to try out the full build today when it launched and it's quite a nice little game made by some hard working people. The puzzles are fun and well thought out, the music was fantastic and sound design, environments are very nice too :) The camera angles were a little wonky but nothing too hard to deal with :) basically, the game is fun and people should give it a go cause there is too much shovelware on this platform that dwarves some genuinely hard worked projects!
I might be able to give this a thumbs up if it were a demo in it's current state. I had much higher expectations, sadly for me. Firstly, I absolutely hate not having control of my camera and not being able to explore. In this you are tightly driven to the end, after solving what round out to be very simple puzzles (and very few at that). The game has only one save point before the end from what I could tell on screen and is only a few short chapters. Most of which are cut scenes. Again, if a demo, I could forgive quite a bit, but in no way can I recommend this as a "game".
Very short, but with charming visuals (main character is so cute), a pleasant soundtrack, and simple puzzles that made for a nice casual experience
Interesting game. The mechanics are interesting and the gameplay is nice and casual.
This game is a great example for aspiring devs for the type of effort they should be putting into their early work. Too often I find that new devs publishing their first games just dial in broad swaths of their games. These guys clearly put a lot of effort into this game, but they're just not there yet. I'm glad they got so far as publishing because very few do, and this project shows so much promise for their future projects. For my full thoughts I made a video on this particular game: https://youtu.be/wcsqJBKjnMM
