About

Eleven-year-old Iggy wasn’t sure what he was expecting when he dragged his friends out to the woods to attempt a strange ritual from a book he found in the dumpster at school, but his wildest imagination couldn’t have prepared him for the land of wonder and magic that awaited them at the bottom of that old willow tree.
Now, however, it’s twenty years later, and he and his friends are past the age of make-believe. The wonderland of their youth has become nothing more than a far-off dream—until one night, Bucks and her newborn daughter disappear without a trace. Soon, Iggy and his friends find themselves pulled back into that world of childish glee. Only their wishes and desires aren’t so innocent anymore, and the world has twisted itself into a land of horror and depravity that’s scarcely recognizable.

Our Wonderland is a horror-fantasy visual novel focusing on the struggles, issues, and deteriorating relationships between five childhood friends (amplified to horrific effect). I think of it a bit like an overwrought character drama that happens to include horrific and fantastical things. It contains five different arcs, each with its own ending, and your choices affect the amount of peril the protagonist experiences (hint: how many times Iggy violently dies), as well as the final ending (hint: who Iggy ends up with at the very end, because apparently in some messed-up way, this is also the world's worst dating sim).
As an extra note, this game also touches on a lot of LGBTQIA+ themes.
Our Wonderland was originally released episodically on itchio between 2021 and 2024. This Steam release is the newly remastered version with overhauled art, new features, and many quality-of-life updates.

A dramatic, emotional, and occasionally horrific visual novel told in five arcs, each with its own ending
Four possible epilogues based on your choices (1 neutral and 1 for each of the 3 LIs Iggy can end up with)
20 to 25 hours of playtime (around 288k words of reading)
Storybook-style visuals accentuated by a weird, colorful art style
Over 570 CGs/illustrations (that's a whole heck of a lot)
Some super sweet animatic-style cutscenes for important, poignant scenes (easier to cry to)
12 ways to violently die! (if you want to, of course)
A fun cinematic soundtrack and lots of dramatic sound effects for an immersive experience

Our Wonderland is generally recommended for mature audiences on account of its themes. If after reading the information in the Mature Content Description below, you have any concerns regarding the content, it's recommended that you read the complete and detailed list of content and trigger warnings available on the official site for the game. The game also includes a Censored Mode. This mode spot-pixelates elements of gore within the CGs, which may be helpful if you're interested in the game but squeamish about gore.

It started out with me just thinking "Oh, well, this game is free. If it's not any good, I've lost nothing." I was playing this until 3am. My heart was torn into a million pieces. Iggy and friends are as much a part of the fabric of my soul now, as my own breath. It's dark. It's malignant. It's breathtaking. It's beautiful. It's a lot like real life. I recommend you give this one a read. What do you have to lose? Only your heart.
I played this VN in full as it released gradually on Itch.io. It is a truly life-changing experience that I am thrilled to experience from the start again. Being a character drama, it focuses heavily on its cast and the issues between them as they have gotten older. You somehow sympathise with them, but go on to hate them at a later moment. They are all relatable in their own ways, and that is part of why I love them all so much. Their traumas, insecurities and desires are amplified in a way that makes it easier to digest, but much more heart-wrenching. The rest of the game is absolutely wonderful too. The writing is unique, highly descriptive, and engaging. The art is unique and highly expressive. The music and SFX are carefully curated to enhance the mood and tone of each scene. I especially adore how animated the sprites and CGs are in this VN, how they bounce and shake in certain moments. There's so many cool visual effects late-game as well. Our Wonderland is one of, if not my favourite game of all time. It holds a special place in my heart. It helped me gain enough confidence to make art and start sharing it with the world. I found one of the loveliest little communities on the internet. To think me playing a random visual novel I was initially on the fence about would permanently change my life... It sounds silly but I am being genuine. If you are able to endure the intense themes, I would 1000000000000000000% recommend you to play this visual novel!!!!!!

Amazing read! The story got me hooked and combined with the beautiful CG's i genuinely couldn't put away my steam deck. At first i had my doubts about some of the characters. During the first few hours, some of them were definitely pretty unlikeable, but by the end i absolutely adored every single one of them. If there was something like a supporter pack i would def buy it, this is a VN that deserves to be supported and is absolutely worth a price.
I once played the original version of Our Wonderland on Itchi.o so long ago, yet the memories of the game and the experiences I had still stick with me for so long. It's absolutely a game that explores so many adult topics in a gritty but needed way. I am going to leave this review to recommend that if you want to play it, if it looks interesting to you, do so without hesitation! I'm sure it will change your life.
everybody should play our wonderland. unless they like being happy. this is an entirely positive review i love this game so much
amazing story
This game was such an unexpected gem for me. I honestly didn't think I would end up loving it this much, but it completely exceeded all my expectations. The characters are absolutely amazing, and I quickly became attached to all of them. They feel so memorable and well-written that I still think about them long after finishing the game. (Genzou is the best yall) I first played the Steam demo, then completed the full version, and now I'm about to replay the remastered version on Steam. It has been such a fun journey, and I'm really happy to see these characters again(developer's other games are cute too tho!!) This game also introduced me to an incredible fandom that I became a part of almost immediately. I'm still following the creator, and I've really enjoyed playing their other projects as well. They have become one of those developers whose work I'll always be excited to check out I genuinely hope they continue creating more content in the future because I'll be more than happy to support and play anything they make. This game has become one of my favorite discoveries, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable story with wonderful characters. Thanks for your work and love you Carrot! <3
This is, genuinely, the best game I have ever played. And I have played. Many a games. It's a simple visual novel, not too crazy or complex, and certainly isn't like any big ol' triple A game made by like, Blizzard or something. It's a visual novel, made with Ren'py, originally posted for years on itch.io. BUT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!! I was there. I REMEMBER VIVIDLY the first time I played this YEARS ago, i think it was right when arc 3 came out? it was such a crazy experience that, even at the late hour of like 2am, i tried to explain to my older brother that i just experienced peak. I dont think a video games ever made me feel so seen before, the main character being asexual, working htrough ♥♥♥♥♥♥ circumstances. Agh. AGH!!! this game is so impactful and emotional and so beautifully-timed with all its scenes, the ending is more than everything i can ask for, the character development and realistic expectations make this game and the story feel so alive, it feels so real and genuine that i cannot stop constantly recommending this game to my friends. I got my boyfriend (i am iggy and he is genzou) to start playing this game a couple months ago, and I was finally able to finish arc 3 with him in the remastered version (he immediately regretted making fun of orlam for so long after arc 3 LOL) this game is everything i could ever ask for :) weirdly gruesome and realistic(?) horror, VERY queer romance with a bajillion ups and downs, crazy time-travel shenanigans, and a realistic happy ending where we don't just pretend the past didn't happen. this game will ALWAYS have a place in my heart<3 (You see, it says that i have played for ~6 hours on steam. but on itch i've played for roughly 50 hours. i like to reread genzy moments. a lot.)
I'm blown away. It's a insanely good game. I love the world, the characters and the vibe. I don't wanna say too much in case I spoiler something but it's so so good. The other four arcs are just as dark, just as messed up (if not more) and it covers Adult themes Also it's quite funny at some points I also found the rest of the story heart warming and it made me cry at points. I also scared me in a deep way So please check it out, it's free and worth your time This is my original thoughts from when I first finished the demo which covered Arc one So I have played the demo when it was out That covers arc one and I went in with a open mind. I had seen the tiktoks Carrot had made and the art style looked cool. By the end, I was blown away. How dark it can be, how messed up it can be and how adult it can be. But also how funny it can also be. And it's done by a single person over five years To quote a part of one of my favourite quotes "Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist *can* come from *anywhere*..... .......I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more." And I'm hungry to start arc two
I just finished the first act and i'm CRYING OUT LOUD. This is amazing. I loved this game, the characters, and how everything is developing. I became obsessed this last week with genzo and iggy as I see myself and my boyfriend in them (physically) Now after checking carrot's twitter every single day i saw this game. It's my first time playing a visual novel and I basically loved it. I'd really recommend this game. PLEASE I NEED THEM TO BE TOGETHER.
