About

Eleven-year-old Iggy wasn’t sure what he was expecting when he dragged his friends out to the woods to attempt a strange ritual from a book he found in the dumpster at school, but his wildest imagination couldn’t have prepared him for the land of wonder and magic that awaited them at the bottom of that old willow tree.
Now, however, it’s twenty years later, and he and his friends are past the age of make-believe. The wonderland of their youth has become nothing more than a far-off dream—until one night, Bucks and her newborn daughter disappear without a trace. Soon, Iggy and his friends find themselves pulled back into that world of childish glee. Only their wishes and desires aren’t so innocent anymore, and the world has twisted itself into a land of horror and depravity that’s scarcely recognizable.

Our Wonderland is a horror-fantasy visual novel focusing on the struggles, issues, and deteriorating relationships between five childhood friends (amplified to horrific effect). I think of it a bit like an overwrought character drama that happens to include horrific and fantastical things. It contains five different arcs, each with its own ending, and your choices affect the amount of peril the protagonist experiences (hint: how many times Iggy violently dies), as well as the final ending (hint: who Iggy ends up with at the very end, because apparently in some messed-up way, this is also the world's worst dating sim).
As an extra note, this game also touches on a lot of LGBTQIA+ themes.
Our Wonderland was originally released episodically on itchio between 2021 and 2024. This Steam release is the newly remastered version with overhauled art, new features, and many quality-of-life updates.

A dramatic, emotional, and occasionally horrific visual novel told in five arcs, each with its own ending
Four possible epilogues based on your choices (1 neutral and 1 for each of the 3 LIs Iggy can end up with)
20 to 25 hours of playtime (around 288k words of reading)
Storybook-style visuals accentuated by a weird, colorful art style
Over 570 CGs/illustrations (that's a whole heck of a lot)
Some super sweet animatic-style cutscenes for important, poignant scenes (easier to cry to)
12 ways to violently die! (if you want to, of course)
A fun cinematic soundtrack and lots of dramatic sound effects for an immersive experience

Our Wonderland is generally recommended for mature audiences on account of its themes. If after reading the information in the Mature Content Description below, you have any concerns regarding the content, it's recommended that you read the complete and detailed list of content and trigger warnings available on the official site for the game. This list organizes warnings according to arc and type and includes specific details on all potentially triggering content in the game while trying to stay as spoiler-free as possible.
The game also includes a Censored Mode. This mode spot-pixelates elements of gore within the CGs, which may be helpful if you're interested in the game but squeamish about gore.

I just finished the first act and i'm CRYING OUT LOUD. This is amazing. I loved this game, the characters, and how everything is developing. I became obsessed this last week with genzo and iggy as I see myself and my boyfriend in them (physically) Now after checking carrot's twitter every single day i saw this game. It's my first time playing a visual novel and I basically loved it. I'd really recommend this game. PLEASE I NEED THEM TO BE TOGETHER.
TLDR REVIEW: STORY: 10/10 ART STYLE: 10/10 WORLD-BUILDING : 10/10 CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: 10/10 A fresh, well-crafted and perfectly executed idea. Stop reading this review and go play this ASAP. Carrot, I genuinely don't know where to start. Our Wonderland is, without exaggeration, one of the most powerful pieces of art I've ever had the privilege of experiencing. I actually played the game years ago, before Chapter 4 had even been released, and I became a fan almost instantly. Ever since then, I've been following the progress of the remaster, your posts on social media, and seeing the love and care you've continued to pour into this project. Playing it again now that it's been finally released on Steam , it only reminded me why it left such a lasting impression on me in the first place. What you've built here is something completely original. The story manages to be both romantic and deeply disturbing, weaving those two things together in a way that never feels accidental ,it's intentional, fearless, and brazen. It's captivating in a way that pulls you in and refuses to let go, even through its most unsettling moments, and boy, there ARE MANY DELIGHTFUL UNSETTLING MOMENTS IN OUR WONDERLAND HEHEHE :3 But what left the biggest mark on me are the characters. They are so human , flawed, complicated, and real in a way that fictional characters rarely achieve. I found myself genuinely caring about their stories and their fates, and even years after finishing it, they haven't left my mind, especially our main silly beans Gen and Iggy. That kind of lasting emotional weight is rare, and it's a direct result of how much love , dedication and craft went into every single beat of their development. Regarding the art of this VN; your style is so singular and unmistakably yours. It doesn't just illustrate the story; it becomes the story. The visual tone fits the emotional world of Our Wonderland so perfectly that I genuinely can't imagine it looking any other way. It's a style that complements everything , the tenderness, the dread, the violence, the wholesomeness , the perfectly crafted juxtaposition between the innocence of childhood and the horrors we're exposed to while immersing ourselves deep in the plot , but most importantly, the beauty and excitement of it all. Thank you for creating something so unique, so well-written, and so genuinely moving. Our Wonderland is a rare gem, and the fact that it came entirely from one person , one wonderful person who has been wronged and to whom life has tested so much in the past year , yet never stopped caring about this gem of a game, makes it all the more breathtaking. I hope you know how deeply it resonates with the people who experience it. Thank you Carrot, thank you, so so so sooooo much for the wonderful story you've bestowed upon us.

It started out with me just thinking "Oh, well, this game is free. If it's not any good, I've lost nothing." I was playing this until 3am. My heart was torn into a million pieces. Iggy and friends are as much a part of the fabric of my soul now, as my own breath. It's dark. It's malignant. It's breathtaking. It's beautiful. It's a lot like real life. I recommend you give this one a read. What do you have to lose? Only your heart.
Ok, in case anyone is reading reviews deciding whether to play this, YES absolutely you should! (unless the content warnings would bother you though, that's fair.) It's a great game, it's free, nothing to lose here. I played this game back when it was on Itch.io, I think I first played RIGHT after arc 5 was completed? It was before the whole deindexing nightmare, I still can't believe that they removed the best game from their own site like that. The original was unironically already one of my favorite games, and the remaster (Especially the Iggy sprite!!) is just incredible. I play a LOT of games so I don't say this lightly, but this is one of the best games I've ever played. I love the story and how it is presented in arcs, I love the art, and I LOVE that none of the characters are fully good or fully evil. I was in the middle of doing Art Fight when the remaster got released. I thought about fully dropping the fight so I could take the rest of the month to play the game lol. 'Oh I'll just play arc 1 during my break to rest my wrist' I thought- next thing I knew I had played all the way through the story, was crying, and it was 18 straight hours later and now 7am. Oops. I napped and then came back after I woke up because I remembered that there was the after-story stuff, then proceeded to cry again lmao. (I'll need to go back and complete the rest of everyone's endings another time, but I got the Genzy one and that's all I really wanted) (Also slightly unrelated, but my sister was watching me play for a while and said that Iggy reminded her a lot of me because I am "also an anxious asexual and have the autistic rizz that makes everyone love you for some reason" lmao???) Anyways, this game and these characters hold a very special place in my heart. It took me like a week to write this review since I am Not Great at writing and wanted to leave an actual nice review and not just like keysmash and spam emojis like I wanted to lol. Thank you very much, Carrot, for making and giving us this masterpiece. 💛
I only got through arc one by time this review comes out but... This is legit one of the best visual novel games I have ever played! All of these characters are so good and I actually feel how awful things actually are. 9/10 game.
orlam they could never make me hate you
wow guys.... this truly was.... our wonderland..... seriously though, I've been a fan of this game since about 2024 and I cannot get over the fact that the steam release exists. it's here. it's real. i can play it. on steam
Hi! I recommend this game deeply. I am keeping this short because i desperately want to play the remaster! But I played this game on itch.io and have been following the updates from the shadows! The game on itch.io is like a hidden gem! I cannot wait to see what the remaster has to offer!
I can’t recommend this game enough. I went into it a little bit hesitant, as most people do with free games, and was surprised beyond all comprehension. I had never seen the original release on itch and never visit there much. But don’t think this is just a port of a popular itch game; I would have believed a small indie team made this. The art in this game is phenomenal, but I don’t think it even compares to the writing. You could turn on the voice-to-text for this game and turn off your monitor, and still be able to envision what’s on the screen. Each character is fleshed out to a T; I feel for each one, and my emotions mirror how the main character is feeling. And even if you’re not a big fan of gore or anything of the sort, there’s a feature to blur it! I played with it off and was definitely surprised by some of the scenes, but don’t turn away from the emotional journey the story will bring you on.
Absolutely disgusting; 10/10. Some of the best writing I've ever read in video games.
