Ortus Regni is a new and novel card game inspired by the late Anglo-Saxon period of English history. The Late Anglo-Saxon era in English history is a time of warring Earls. Minor kings all, they claim whatever lands they can. All the while, the Vikings roam not just the sea, but the land.

in 2 words: Great game. Pros: - not too complicated rules, but have variety of tactics - works smooth - its free..not that "free to play" style - completely free.,yes you heard me right Cons: - Tutorial not explain clearly some gameplay mechanics, but here are detailed rules and explanations in text format available from game client.
I have read in the reviews and on the forums that some dont get the game or that they think it is too hard. It isnt hard at all if you have ever played other card games like magic. It is simple yet deep enough at the same time. The atmosphere, the look of the cards and the sounds feel very medieval. Very.Medieval. You couldnt ask for more. Also the game is free not free with payment option but free. Yay. You dont unlock cards you have them all from the beggining. The tutorial is nice enough. It gives you a quick overview over the game mechanics. But you have to play some matches for yourself after to really understand. Though the story it told was nice enough. You can plot against other players with your cards, bribe their armies, control the church, call out tournaments and go to war. You can even conquer their lands kill their lords and much more. You can delay the vikings...make them come faster... try to bribe them or prepare to defend. Your lords can be taken prisoner in battle under some circumstances and you can ransom them. Also you need to make sure that your line doesnt die without an heir. Or else the game is lost. I wont explain how you do it here i just want to give you a quick overview. If you build a balanced deck and play your cards right then there is a counter for everything. Battles have a random factor but not in a annoying way. I understood the game in less than 1 hour... now i have not mastered it but i dont even need to read what the cards do anymore. Its sad that on one hand people demand for more complex and thought out games and on the other hand they turn arround and say a game sucks when its just what they demand in the firstplace. No offense if this game is hard to you you have the attention span of a goldfish... downvote me all you want but if you cant even take the time to read and understand simple card explanations then you should go back to.... DUN DUN DUNNNNN cod. Also if youre reading this and are looking for mp please add me :)

100% FREE CARD GAME (no currency at all). NOT a Collectionable Card Game, you have all the cards immediatly. TRULY ORIGINAL RULES explained in a really nice way on this page of their own : http://www.ortusregni.com/learn/ as well as on a in-game tutorial I didn't try. 2 to 4 players ! GREAT THEME with Faithful game interactions ! LIMITED randomness : There's always a way to influence the random aspects (even if you can never reach the 100% chance to win a random pull). Since there's not much different cards AND deck size isn't high, you quickly have an idea of your opponent's decks, possibly their draw probability but yours for sure ! The only downsides are : - Not a beautiful art on cards (still fits really well with the theme). - Requires patience to integrate the rules (no problem if you have patience or someone to explain :p). - Few cards (helps to read the game). SideNotes : Those who, like I do, enjoy challenging their brain, particularily when it is to beat other players, will enjoy the refreshing ideas this game brings on the table! I really enjoy the amount of possibilities despite quite a low amount of different cards, the way the vikings interacts with the players, the speed in which you can make a deck between games (I don't know if they added it but I read that in the phyiscal card game you can completely change your deck between games in Bo3 or Bo5 and that the winner may even have his deck locked so that the looser can adapt)! This game also implies "mind games" and I love it. My congratulations to the game Author, Jon Sudbury, and to the entire team !
Even though I haven't spend all that much time in the game yet(~5hours is, at least for me, not a lot), I feel like I can already give a fair judgement: -The graphics are looking good, and at the same time, every PC should be able to handle the game very well. -The tutorial is actually teaching you how to play the game(Note@devs: Neither me nor my friends unlocked the achievment for finishing it, can you check on that?). -No micro-transactions: Everyone starts with all cards the game has to offer, making the game fair and fun for everyone. -The AI is not just a placeholder to fight while waiting for your friends to finish the tutorial, it is actually challenging, for beginners even when set to Easy. -The game is free, and the download is small(folder size currently is 512 MB, not sure about the download size anymore). -The developers are actively discussing suggestions of the community, developing the game and giving some transparency on the development of the game. -The gameprinciple is great and easy to understand, but definitely not easy to master. This is basically the first review I've written, but I felt the need to as the game seems to be overlooked quite quickly as a rather new free-to-play-game. I can see myself spending a good amount of hours playing this, and I highly encourage everyone to do the same!
As someone who played the actual card game, I found this version to be a good way to test various playstyles without actually having to play someone. I liked the card game, in fact my friend went and bought both expansions so we could invite more people into our little wars. I'm giving this version the benefit of the doubt, as it has just released and as with every game things could be better. I have great faith that the devs will continue to tweak and fix any problem that may arise. With that said, here are some things I've seen that can be better: 1. The tutorial could be a little more explanatory and less role play. I like what they were trying to do but as others have mentioned some game mechanics were not fully explored. 2. I like the display and because I've played the game for hours I know which cards do what. However, others do not and while right clicking does show the information other players unfortuantely didn't know or immediately felt overwelmed. The real game comes with a "cheat sheet" for cards and their functions. Perhaps putting in a menu button for card info wouldn't be such a bad idea. I have not yet played multiplayer so as of now thats all I see that need some attention. Give the game a try, it's free for crying out loud. Nothing to lose but your time and or friendships. And heck if you like it go and support the team by buying the actual physical copy.
Game is really amazing, but they turn off servers soo game is dead now... P.s. the most fun way was to play with friends :(((
⠀
This game is amazing. It is completely free to play. you'll find it confusing at first but after 2-3 games you will get what going on. I like this game cuz "more skill play than RNG" Have fun
Amazing novel card game.
