Orpheus: To Hell and Back is a mesmerizing action-puzzle game that brings the timeless myth of Orpheus and Eurydice to life in the palm of your hands, 80's chibi-anime style!
Armed with Orpheus' magical lyre, players will explore the labyrinthine depths of Hades.
Orpheus can push blocks and retrieve items, but more importantly, he can use his lyre to mentally control his enemies' movements! Push enemies into traps scattered throughout the levels and rise victorious from this challenge!
Using the power of music, you can enchant enemies, manipulate their movements, and even lull them to sleep.
You will have 3 skills to use during your adventure:
Song of Charm: enemies are attracted towards Orpheus for a limited amount of time
Song of Sleep: enemies are put to sleep for a limited amount of time, standing still in their current position
Song of Fear: enemies are repelled away from Orpheus for a limited amount of time

Every note played resonates with the game world, shaping the environment and altering the behavior of mythical adversaries. The lyre becomes your weapon, your tool, and your key to solving intricate puzzles, an harmonious blend of action and strategy.

Nice little game! Well worth the modest price. (My displayed playtime's not accurate since I mostly played using the included rom on a different emulator.) A few minor notes: - Remember that you have all three songs from the start, not just one (I found the puzzles and first boss a bit confusing until I realized this.) - The fullscreen worked fine for me (1080p), but for anyone experiencing scaling issues, you should be able to fix them by Right-Click -> Window size -> Fullscreen stretched. It'd be nice if this was the default. Or just use the included rom with your preferred emulator. - Collision boundaries with parts of the levels weren't always what I'd expect, which led to a few accidental deaths and minor frustrations when pushing boxes. - A little bit of sound effects would be nice. - It can get frustrating to get sent all the way back to the start of the level on every death (especially when you die at a boss), but luckily this is easy to deal with by using savestates (Right-Click -> State). - Running on linux (not steamdeck) I had a little bit of minor problems until I tried using GE-Proton. Likely to be fixed in future Proton updates I would imagine. I also needed to enable Steam Input to use my gamepad. - Sometimes the right-click menu stop working for me until I restart the game. Might be a Proton issue. - I'd love to see an expanded SNES-based sequel that takes advantage of the SNES's extra buttons to have a dedicated button for each song.
So cool to have a new gameboy game, and specially one where you can see the passion poured into it. As a greek mythology nut this hits home as well. Great game so far (It says 46 minutes here but I've played much longer on my GBC)
Very very light recommend, more as a novelty or proof of concept than an actual game. Its cool that people are developing things for retro hardware in this day and age. There's some jank to it that feels more like a general lack of polish than playing towards intentional hardware/design limitations so it wore my patience thin towards the later levels (I gave up on something that feels like the second to last boss). Not sure if skill issue or actually flawed design but up to that point it felt like it wouldn't overstay its welcome so I'm choosing to step away with a generally positive impression instead of sticking with it and malding. I wouldn't rec this to everyone but if you're a mark for a retro curio you can load up on your analogue pocket or equivalent device you could certainly do worse with 3 bucks.

Already backed this on Kickstarter (and played on my Analogue Pocket) but decided to also buy here to support the devs. Such an original, clever and nostalgic game! Hopefully it does well enough to fund more and more projects like this. We still need good ol' Game Boy games :)
Fun cute little game with a unique mechanic of using a harp to control enemies in the environment and try to solve puzzle and defeat enemies. Would be cool to see this kind of mechanics further evolved and used in more ways in a future sequals.
Cute little game made for the actual Gameboy, pretty cool! I love the soundtrack and graphics. The gameplay is relatively simple and easy to learn. The controls feel a little awkward sometimes, which makes the game somewhat difficult at times... for example, I accidentally moved a little too much over the edge and fell to my death, or when I get hit but an enemy that spawned where I was standing, I kept taking damage instead of having a few seconds of i-frames (invincibility), which caused me to die in an instant if I wasn't paying attention. But otherwise, it's a fun game and I recommend to anyone looking for about two hours worth of gameplay.
No entanto, ele sofre constantemente de bugs e alguns problemas de hit box em certos trechos, além é claro da falta de acessibilidade com a língua portuguesa, se limitando apenas aos textos em inglês em japonês. pretty solid so far. i find the game really cute and wish i had found the kickstarter instead of only finding out about this an hour ago. i have to buy one of these carts. really cute and love the kid icarus art style! i find it quite difficult with having to redo the puzzles but im still enjoying it. 100% worth 3$ every gameboy fan needs this game in their library or on their shelf proud owner of this game!!!
