Great Multiplayer Game Grab 3 other friends and give it a go.
ORE is a fun way to spend some time murdering space bugs. They weren't kidding about those recommended specs, but I'm basically playing on a microwave with a screen, so you PC Master Race folks shouldn't have too much trouble. Grab some controllers and some friends and collect some ORE!

"ORE" is, well, quite an amazing co-incidence. See, three months after Deep Rock Galactic showed up on Steam, this very mediocre co-op mining game that probably took about three months to make (and that's being generous) showed up on Steam. Just wow. Amazing how completely unrelated things happen so perfectly isn't it. What do you do in the game? Co-incidentally, the gameplay is identical to Deep Rock Galactic except the graphics are much worse and it's a top down twin stick game because FPS games are really hard to make and not everyone can do it. Not that they would want to because this game is totally different to Deep Rock Galactic and all similarities are purely co-incidental. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately (and yes Deep Rock Galactic suffers from this too, I don't know why I mention that because this obviously has nothing to do with Deep Rock Galactic, the co-op mining game where you go sci-fi mining with up to three friends that came out 3 months prior to this). Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel almost as ripped off as Deep Rock Galactic.
It's ok. Most games nowadays (including AAAs) are basic generic clones of each other and given this was a school project at a game school that teaches how to make said copy paste clones, that's what you can expect. Well done for a test of student ability to do the bare minimum but not worth your time unless you just want to see what game design schools teach you.

notice: bear in mind i have yet to play past the tutorial. will update the review after i do i really like that this is a defend the payload local co-op twin stick shooter with a dab of RPG elements. that's one of the things the game does right in my opinion. it definitely has something unique going for it now, the game seems like it could be fun (and it is; the little i played was surprisingly engaging) but do bear in mind it's very light on content, with just 14 missions not including the tutorial. though, i do not know how long each mission is/could be. i wouldn't say no to an endless wave mode or something like that, but sadly, it appears to be abandoned i can definitely see it being a lot of fun with more people, and with the launch of steam remote play together, and the game going f2p, at the very least adding it to your library seems like a no-brainer to me it's hard to say i recommend the game so much as i don't not recommend it. fun game, just very light on content ps.: i got the game for like 0.99$, at the time i did, it had a major bug where nobody could move past the title screen, which is why i have 4.9 hours on the game, even despite only having played the tutorial. the bug has been fixed since then and the game is working quite smoothly(otherwise you wouldn't be seeing this review) tl;dr - solid twin stick shooter that's light on content but has nifty ideas that would be fun in local/remote play together co-op and, as far as i can tell, great optimization(although i am running on relatively high end hardware). did i mention it's free?
