Opus Magnum is the latest open-ended puzzle game from Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem, Infinifactory, and SHENZHEN I/O. Design and build machines that assemble potions, poisons, and more using the alchemical engineer’s most advanced tool: the transmutation engine!

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Sep 10 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

My only complaint is that I wish it were longer.

Absolutely amazing game with a great community! This game is the perfect mix between sandbox creativity and rigorous puzzle solving. From every "Oh that was easy!" to each wanna-punch-my-monitor difficult level, this game has been a joy to experience and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to start out with Zachtronics games but doesn't know what to do first.
Absolutely recommended, especially if your idea of fun is spending an hour rearranging a perfectly functional machine because it could be smaller, faster, or simply prettier to watch. I’ve loved this concept since The Codex of Alchemical Engineering, and Opus Magnum develops it beautifully. Replacing the rectangular grid with a hexagonal one was a particularly good choice, opening up more interesting movements and intricate machinery. On the surface, the puzzles look simple enough. Then you start thinking about the optimal arrangement of components, shaving off a few cycles, or getting those arms to move in a perfectly synchronized choreography. Finding a working solution is satisfying; turning it into something compact and elegant kept me occupied for much longer. I usually chased smaller area and, where possible, fewer cycles, but visual harmony was a goal in itself. There’s something wonderfully satisfying about watching everything move exactly as it should. Most of the main challenges felt moderately difficult, with a few that made me stop for the evening and return with a fresh mind the next day. The post-story challenges are another matter entirely—I honestly haven’t managed to solve those. The visuals are a huge improvement over Codex. The story isn’t essential to the puzzles, but it provides pleasant little breaks between bouts of mechanical obsession. Controls were clear, the puzzles stayed varied, and I had no technical issues whatsoever. It isn’t demanding on hardware, either. No real complaints. Just be prepared for “it works” to become “but surely I can make it more elegant if I move this part here, whoops...”
